Dan that is sweeeet! Your starfighter is looking great. I haven't really worked on mine for about a week. I've decided to use the least amount of kit parts I can get away with and it has bogged me down a bit. I'll try to do better. Wink [;)]

Anyhoo here is a couple pics of the two man crew module less the cockpit, which is being painted, and the neck piece where the latice work connects to the module.

I'll try to get pics of the drive section, less engines, up soon.

Freakin awsome dude! Damn, I just dont have time to do something like that! My family life is hectic, and the five year old going on 20 is getting to be a handfull. Anyhoo, what did you use for the engines, im not going to use them just curious.

Terran class C Fighter / "Stingray "

2098
First contact with extra-terrestrial beings from Alpha Centauri star system.
The Centauri system has 120 inhabited planets with 4 types of humanoid life
forms inhabiting them. All coexist in peace and have been that way for centuries.

2102
Promixa Centauri, a star system close to Alpha Centauri,
invades the outer ring of planets and begins genocide of the inhabitants.

Delegations from all affected civilizations begin to reach out for help
from neighboring star systems.

The Terran Space Federation, based on Earth, joins in with
the beleaguered defenders and begins sending aid.

Unfortunately, most of the equipment is antiquated and not cutting edge
technology, but is used to fill the gap until new fighters can be tested
and mass-produced. The advantage is that Earth’s factories and
materials are far enough away to be safe from attacks.

The fighter shown here is one of the earliest types sent to Alpha
Centauri with Star Class Centauri carriers; they were equipped
with hyperspace drive systems and were technologically superior to
anything Earth had at the time. It is a Class C fighter , "Stingray ".

Specifications:

* Drive: 2 -Ion drive/reactor engines capable of subspace speeds.
* Armament: 2-20/20 Mk I laser cannon fed by ion reactors.
* Crew: 1
* Displacement: 10,045 metric tons.

Weaknesses:

* This was a 10-year-old fighter when the war began. The Ion reactors
needed replacing every 200-300 combat hours because of overheating problems.
Its slow speed also affected its ability to escape in combat emergencies.

* Tactics were changed to suit the needs of the fighter. Even with the
ferocious tenacity and sheer courage displayed by the combined
forces, almost half of these fighters were lost during the first 5 months of fighting.

Outstanding build Dan, even though I did not understand to much of the story line, I think the ship speakes for its self.

Here are a couple in progress pictures of the drive section. There will be two chemical engines added to the end and two to four Ion drive units on the "wing" tips. Now where is that tube of putty. . . .

Me either woody I just started redesigning my engines as I was putting them out on the tips but I decided to to tuck them next to the fusulage so I can move the main gear there. Ive been trying to get ready for a show in June so Im working on a lot of other things besides this one but I hope to have this one ready for that also.

Ok here's some progress pics , I decided to make it smaller than I originally wanted too due to space restrictions but please keep in mind these are early progress pictures , also I decided to to make my starfighter off of the Alien dropship design , however while it will be the same basic concept it will be a true starfighter , and a ground support aircraft . Hope you like .

Ok here is a couple more pics of the back of the crew section of my ship. It looks better in person as it has just been shot with a thick coat of primer before final sanding.

I'm building the ion drive cruise engines and detailing the drive section. More pics soon. Wink [;)]

I'm getting excited although I don't think I'll be finished by deadline , work has been getting in the way of the project , but I work on it when I can , I'll post some progress pics soon .

How's everybody else doing ? Do we need to extend the deadline ? It would help for myself , how about anyone else ?

Well. . . . .I goofed up. I was in the groove last weekend and starting to detail my crew section when I made a fatal error. Let's just say that a space heater is not a great choice for drying paint. Dead [xx(]

I was very depressed and thought about dropping out of the build. I'm not going to though and I have rebuilt the crew compartment. I am only a little farther behind than I was at the last posting but I figured out how I'm going to mount the gatling guns. My stupid mistake may have helped my project to be better.
How is everyone else doing? Some pictures would be nice. Big Smile [:D]

I hope to post some pics of the rebuilt crew module this weekend.

Well between the killer tooth pain I was having , work , family and helping build models for an independent movie maker , I have made a little progress , I did however decide to see if my skills are up to par so I'm going scratch built all the way , I'm not going to kit bash anything , I just want to see if I can do it and what it ends up looking like , and actually having Alfred Wong join the forum gave me a boost of insperation ----------- Wow not sleep makes my spelling look like Censored [censored]

sorry guys , in the off topic forum you can read up on the war with a toothache I have had , I beilive I've been up just over 4 days now .................., seems my grammer suffers too , I think the worst is over , at least I hope it is , so as soon as the headache stops I'll be getting some much needed sleep and then start fresh on the project .

Nice come back woody I didnt have that kind of mishap but I kept changing my mind on details and although I am basically finished I am still decalling. I also started to scratch build an airfield defensive turret instead of using the tank as I felt it would be to hard to balance the scene out.

Hey guys , sorry I haven't posted in a while , I been throughly busy with work and another project and haven't had much time to work on the starfighter , I'd say it's about 45% complete give or take , I don't have any new progress pics to show off but as soon as I do I'll post them , I'm glad to hear that everyone is still in this build and I'm happy to see everyone still has everyone else's support .
