Well mine's done except for the base and this weekend I'm going to my brother in law's and have him take some pic's and download them to my photo site. I've decided to keep the base simple for now as I don't have time as on June 12th Im entering that and some other models at the MINICON 04 in Ontario. I've been helping my son's with their stuff and havn't had enough time for my own but I do have the base made and I will finish it eventually so wish me luck.

I'm afraid work, and commissions for other peopl has been cutting into my building time as well. I do at least have a design worked out, near-future orbital fighter inspired by the X-43 Hyper-X.

Cplchilly, I'm looking forward to seeing your masterpiece. Good luck at the show.Wink [;)]

Richard, Cool concept! Cool [8D] I've been interested in SCRAM jets lately, very interesting technology.

Will the forces of good be able to turn back this mounting evil? [:0]

Cool design Dan. Are you going to propose Sci-Fi Fighter Build part II? Cool [8D]

Here is a photo update on my "enemy" fighter:

Started RH wing carved out of 2lb. foam with brass laser cannons.

Woody, I think I'll just add this one to the existing build...I might be the only one if we had a part 2! Wink [;)]

Very nice indeed! Looks like a fearsome enemy. I've never worked with the foam. How do you seal and smooth it?

Thanks, Woody.

We have some stuff at work called RSP that works well in sealing foam. It is a 2 part mixture that cures in 10 minutes so I have to work fast with small amounts.

Well I haven't had as much time as I would like to work on my fighter. I'm trying to do something on it everyday but this last week has been a busy one. I tacked the main engine nacelles on this evening but didn't like the effect so I'm redoing their profile a bit and changing how they are mounted a little. I guess I have all of the main pieces ready for final assembly. Maybe this will be the week that it all comes together. Wish me luck.Wink [;)]

Yeah I know that one woody I changed my intakes several times til I found a look that worked (for me anyway) but that's one of the reasons I keep severalprojects going at once so I can bounce back and forth as I start to burn out. I actually have 2 projects completed and only 5 or 6 going (yikes!).

Right now I'm taking care of details on my finished stuff that I'm entering at MINICON then after I' going to finish my star trek GB. I was thinking of something larger for my next one some thing along the lines of a space going B-17 I've still havent thought that far ahead yet. What do you have in mind?

What about a build that starts with a model and we kitbash it's Sci-Fi equivalent?
For example you modify a B-17 into a space faring space bomber.
Or how about a Huey made into a dropship?

Now that would be cool!

What do you think if we narrow it down a bit and all use the same type of subject...in any scale. We could all do B-17s or Hueys, etc. I would like to see how all of us modify our models and how similar of different they would be.

Here is a progress pic. The new engine blanks are more angular and are just proped against the drive section "wings". Does the proportions look right? The crew module will be attached by a neck piece that is not in the picture. I have detail bits and pieces to attach but that will go quickly once I start final assembly. I have all I need to finish but time! LOL

Thanks guys. Do you see the notched sections at either side of the nose of the crew module? There is a trough inlet into each side, made from a piece of large styrene tube stock. That is where the guns will live. Hopefully they will be three barrel gatling type plasma cannons.

I'll have to get this fighter design operational before Dan's alien raiders make it to my sector! LOL
