Can I build a Constitution class ship. I saw them on the site but have no time to scratch build and no space to set up so the Polar Lights kit will have to do. Or a Klingon bird of Prey. By the way does anyone know the color in Tamiya paint to use on a Bird of Prey?

You probably had Franz Joseph's Starfleet Technical Manual. I decided to use ships that appeared onscreen so that even people who had never seen a Trek book or game could still enjoy the museum. Franz Joseph's actually did appear onscreen, but only as background schematics in STII (and maybe in TNG) and not as actual models. So, althougth they're onscreen in a way, they're also sort of in Starship Limbo. So as much as I like the SFTM, I decided not to make those ships part of the museum, except for including my revised versions: http://www.starfleet-museum.org/fj-sftm.jpg

At 1/1000, this station is ONLY 85 cm wide and 1 m tall. Not that much bigger than the 1/350 Refit E at 82 cm long. :) It's also much smaller than a Doomsday machine (2.6 m)

Very cool station Masao. I keep thinking about building a 1:1000 scale station with ships docked...but where to put something that size hmmmm.

Everything else was designed by me, except Hyperion and Asia, which were designed by Paul Cargile and Bernd Schneider, respectively.

Hey, what a great job! Awesome work and very thorough.

Say, when I was younger, I had a book by the Star Trek folks that had all kinds of other Federation ships, including a destroyer with one warp engine that the dish was directly attached to, but otherwise looked like a Constitution class ship. Has that storyline since been discarded, or did you just decide to go your own way?

I may join the build, depending on what I can conjure up. I'm not a fan of the Federation (too nicey-nice for me!), though the ships are ok. I'm more a Klingon guy myself, though my spine does not reach over my forehead. I'll look around a bit for a kit and duly update. Thanks.

Try this one: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/Masao/VanguardArt.jpg The link at Psiphi seems to snap back t the thumbnail.

Sergeev: It's 1/1000, but what are you using for the life-size length of Daedalus? 104 m?

No, thank YOU, guys. I'm very honored that you all want to build models of my ships.

For you 1/2500 modelers, here's something else I recently designed:

Hey, Capt. Mills! Welcome aboard.

I've alerted Bernd Schneider, the guy who actually runs "my" site. He's says he'll set up a special museum page with all the models on it.

Thanks for the wecome, Woody!

The Oberth is from Sci-fi Spaceship Miniatures a few years back. The decals are mine. The scale should be 1:537th. I made the kit a few years back with the original decals. This last November, I redid it, filled seams, repainted, and re-decaled.

There are other ships in that gallery I've done. Lemme know what you think of all of them... :)

Hey Captain Mills, Welcome to the build and FSM.
Christian, on a side note, who's kit is that Oberth class and what scale?

The kewl thing about this build is that we may see some kits come out of it...

I had already started a Daedalus class. I'll keep doing it. It's a modified scale, but will be as accurate as I can make it. I may change the decal markings.

http://www.teachanddiscover.net/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=User-Albums&page=7 (Photos 038 thru 042)

I will start a Wasp Class. It should be pretty easy, and just about the same size as my modified-scale daedalus class.

I changed the scale on the Daedalus 'cause I wanted it to be more impressive next to the 1:1000 PL TOS E's I have.

Also, as a hint to others more talented than I, I wouldn't mind seeing someone do some of Masao's small cruisers (Torsk, Amarillo, etc...)

You always do great work Steven. Wink [;)]
I have finished the scribing(less a couple small corrections) and I'm working on those conduits(?) and bumps on the upper side of the saucer.

Everything else was designed by me, except Hyperion and Asia, which were designed by Paul Cargile and Bernd Schneider, respectively. I wrote the ships histories to be consistent with only facts presented on screen. I didn't use any material from FASA or other liscensed works or material from works of other fans.

Where do the ships in that website come from? It seems there are several Star Trek ship design histories floating around out there, pardon the expression. Is this some kind of official one from the Star Trek creators, or is it something cooked up by a fan, or by some gaming company?

If I recall correctly, Star Fleet Battles and the official Star Trek game, which I think was produced by FASA, had different ship designs and histories and the whole thing!

It's not the size of the hull that matters but rather how many torpedo tubes and phaser banks you pack into it!Tongue [:P]

I thought I'd post a couple pics of the Avengers saucer section. I have the top part of the saucer half scribed and it occured to me I better take some pics in case I mess it up. The parts are pretty much in a raw state in these pics but I think the shape looks ok.

You realy shouldn't give me more ideas MasaoBig Smile [:D] Now I'm thinking about transports again. That is some cool stuff thanks for sharing that with us.
