Larry, where abouts are you in New York. I am from Syracuse and did not know of many Sci-Fi modelers there are. Of course due to work and wife's work schedule, and income I have not been able to start my project. Do you ever put your models on display at some of the IPMS contests? Nice to hear of a Sci-Fi buff from New York.

Well Larry you could always pack up your project and head to the nearest grocery store. Set up a little card table in the frozen food section. Now the trick is you need to take a pizza with you all chopped up so that if the manager asks you what your doing just hand him a piece of the pizza and ask him how he likes the new flavor and then point to the frozen pizzas. I am all done with the refitted D-7 (it's got some added features the standard D-7 doesn't, but it's not nearly up to the standard of a K'Tinga), but need to add some pastel powder to weather it a little, and I can't! My air conditioner broke down, the repairman can't come til tuesday, and it's 90 degrees F in New York. So I need to have the fan on, and you can imagine what that does to pastel powder. Laugh [(-D]

Frustrating but true. Hopefully it will cool off before Tuesday so I can get this blasting thing done. Smile [:)]

I hope to finish tonight. It's gone over the due date mostly due to waiting for varnish coats to dry. The last coat should be dry tonight, maybe tomorrow, and when it's done I'll post a picture or two.

I'm still here- The Torsk class cruiser Le Redoutable is being decaled (round 2) today. I just need to mount the warp pod domes and paint the stand and it will be more-or-less finished! It's about time I got something done... Pictures will follow ina day or two.

Down to the wire! I think I'm actually going to trip over the wire a little. Wink [;)]

I put the decals on last night -- most of the kit decals with national insigna made the model look toyish, so I took them off again. The windows are not half-bad though. If I feel the motivation, I may paint in the clear circular windows, because they look a little fakey -- the color of the hull is inside the window!

I'll hopefully finish up in the next few nights -- tonight I'll paint the forward torpedo bay and some battle damage I put on the cruiser, on the port side. Then I think it needs another glosscoat, then a dullcoat, and finally the pastels to show the rust and wear. Voila, a Klingon battlecruiser.

When you guys portray battle damage on these ships, what colors do you use for the damaged portions, besides black?

Yes, I'm going to weather the ship, to honor the image of the Klingon D7s on the Museum website -- they appear to be rusted or covered by some kind of dust in places.

Well the deadline was to be June first but I'm all for an extension. I'm very flexible and I'm way behind myself.

I could definately use an extension, how does December sound? Woody, just like you, do to over-time, family time, and looking into moving I have not anytime to work on my Daedalus Class ship at all. I am still working on getting the materials. Now Summer is almost here and yard work takes precedence. Any type of extension made would be appreciated:)

Oh well. Hopefully the seams, which are to say the least imperfectly filled, won't stand out too much.

I was hoping to paint the windows on in the blue-white color of the windows on the K'Tinga from ST:TMP, but I don't know if I'll have the time, or the inclination to do all that masking. I may just use the cheesy window decal from the kit.

I don't remember seeing any markings on the Klingon ships in TMP, so I may not put other decals on.

Hey guys-
I normally prowl the aircraft section (as well as the techniques and other general interst sections of the board), but I've been watching this thread from the "cheap seats" for a while now. I watched quite a bit o' Trek in high school (early 90s for me) and even dabbled in Star Fleet Battles once upon a time, so I've enjoyed seeing both Masao's work and everyone's modeling. Keep it up! Finally got the Klingon D-7 from Polar Lights built up and the many seams filled, and added a few details here and there. Its coat of blackprimer is drying now -- here are some pictures I took earlier today of the kit, awaiting its primer coat.
