thank's guy's , I have gone back to the drawing board , aside from that , could anyone tell what hang's off of the criss cross ropes above the shroud top's , sorry for the terminology , I still haven't got it all yet , but it's been bugging me a lot , I thought at first it was the burton pendant's , but now I'm not too sure , thank's in advance

Thank you for the kind words there Steve, If I may make one suggestion that would be the rope for the gun tackle should be taken through the outter hole of the blocks, other then that she's looking superb!!

trying out the rigging , I didn't do coil's , because I reckon their would be too much rope on the deck . I think they would try to get it out of the way, to stop tripping over it .

just put the main gun deck cannon's in , didn't go to , too much trouble with them , you only see the barrel end's . but hopefully this should hold them in place .

A previous poster placed a reference for two books earlier on, Longridges book and the Conway book, possibly the best references available. There is also another book by Noel Hackney about building the Airfix Victory. This was published by Patrick Stephens a UK publisher back in the 1980s. It was part of a series of three books about building ships from the Airfix classic ships range. The other two being about the Cutty Sark and Mayflower. I believe that HSMO (Her Majesties Stationery Office) published a book about the restoration of the Victory many years ago also but have never actually seen this publication.

finally got the two halves together , starting to look ike a ship

the painting to the top of the hull is almost finished , a bit touch -up required , here and there , on the whole not too bad ,

is that the ship , that was wrecked in a wild storm , can't wait to see that one .

but don't you just hate it when you paint something , and then remember you were supposed to repair , where you moved the channel's from . 

No problem Steve. I'm already thinking about Victory 1737 conversion so I'll be around for awhile..lol

thank's for the tip , when I mentioned the yellow , it was more of a mental reminder note to myself .yes I am happy with the way the wood turned out , but the tip about dark yellow , sound's good for next time amigo .

Steve you're making good progress and it does look really good mate!. As far as one's work being better than someone elses is all subjective. My little secret for the sculptures is sculpy oven bake clay, shaping them individually with needles and small spatulas on aluminum foil before baking. Cheers.

Great work so far! Your wood looks great so if you're happy with it then move on. 

In the future, if you want a bit more Yellow to your wood effect, you might try using Tamiya's Dark Yellow as a base. I then use at least three to five colors of artist oils to get the depth and tones I want. I also do all the painting of acrylics before I apply my oils so that all the colors juxtapose. I only put a dull coat on after I'm done. I apply oils right on top of the acrylics and mixed them on the model itself.

I can't tell you to look at my old wips since the PhotoBucket debacle wiped out the pictures, and I've decided that I'm not going to do or post anymore wips.

Just my two cents. As I said, your Victory is looking great.

I have two of the Heller kits. One could be for experimentation.  I also have two of the 1/100 Mantua wood kits that I could use for scratchbuilding new features for the Victory.  You are inspiring me to delve into such a project.

thank's bill , I wanted to do this build after seeing michael d's beautiful build on pete coleman's site , I can tell you now mine will not be as good as his , for one I have been copying his effort , I am still trying to figure out how to do the bow figure's which he carved  . { I am no sculpter }  but as you can see , he has been helping me no end , along with dafi , it has been really enjoyable so far learning new skill's . it's like when I did the robert e lee build , and T.B. helped me improve it , that's what's so good about this forum , the help and education you get .

How did I miss this thread?  I have been intrigued by such a conversion for years but never felt comfortable doing so.  I will follow this thread religiously!
