I fear that website snafus may be a major cause for those to leave and never be hard from again.

It was at the start of the year, Feb or March i think.

I wish I had seen the post, I feed so bad about it. This is going to upset my wife, she's always asking if I heard from him.

He was doing some rappelling training and the line came loose. He was fatally injured by the fall. His wife posted about his death here some time afterwards.

Wait. what? I didn't know that, he used to email me on occasion. He was a firefighter in Montana, an d they were building a new house, do you know what happened?

His poor wife Jill, first they loose a baby then she looses her husband

Its all good,I moved and I currently am living in a very nice apartment,but really no place to work.Also my supplies and stash are stored.I am having a new home built and expect to be in it by May-June.It will have a large unfinished basement which I intend to set up snd get to work on my retirement stash.

Due to my living situation,I have not worked on models for almost a year,I still check in because I like to conversate with the regulars,see whats going on,and keep the forums going, which are a valuable resource.If you really want to post something,you can find the time.If its no longer important to you,then it just fades away like it has for many.

 

 

Hey Tojo. I seem to recall a thread that you posted about you living situation. I think you were moving or moved. Why can't you build? What's going on?

I miss TexGunner. He got tossed out unfairly IMO and he refuses to come back. We still email now and then. Doogs AT is another great modeler that left  and has his own website with lots of great stuff.

I too try to balance this hobby with my other ones, the grandkids, home stuff and general life things. 

Well i'm a new guy, hopefully that should count for something. 

PS: It's been great hearing from you guys on this. Some of you mentioned names that I don't know, and a few that I do.

Well as for me, between work, the wife, the dog, yard work, weapons cleaning and one thing after another always poping up, it's been rough trying to just get some quality time at the bench. Then bouncing around a dozen builds in progress with no end in sight have put me in a rut. And I got tired of trying to find a workable Photo site that I can use to post model pics. Be nice if one can just click and drag a photo onto FSM. But I'm hangin in there.

Maybe they just got busy doing other things. I am retired, yet for some reason I have been so busy lately that I have no time to work on models. If you ask me what I do all day I would say that I don't know, but it takes all day to do it. Lately I have gotten into cooking recipies that take hours to prepare like Beef  Bourguignon (French beef stew cooked in a bottle of Burgundy wine).

    I haven't seen Doog around here in forever. Subfixer, and who can forget Manstiens Revenge....Manny to many.

     Life has a way of moving priorities, this being a hobby for most usually gets put aside for other pressing matters. I would like to think that some of the old mainstays would be welcomed back if they chose to do so.

      It could be the demigraphics of the forums have changed over time too, some folksonly want details and facts about modeling, others, myself included at times, tend to share more personal and or private issues. That may make some uncomfortable so they move on to places that "feel" better to them.

     I also wonder about folks who have been silent for a long time....I wish them good health, and HAPPY MODELLING,. This is a small rock we live on most paths will cross again in time.
