Mike, I am heading over there today to check out the bookshop, I'm not sure if photos are allowed, but if they are I will borrow my bro's digital camera and head back in to see what detail I can capture before my holidays finish. If I can get some good shots you will have to guide me through posting them as I am computer challenged and have never posted a pic. I can see myself having a great excuse to get a digital camera very shortly. Wink [;)]

P.S... is it OK if I use someones' URL link to put the Aussie flag in my posts?

Cheers.....Snowy

Um, I hate to interject here, but the scores are level!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was one match that was played between the Queensland(Yeah!! [yeah]) and NSW(Yuck [yuck])
teams that was a muck around match.
Naturally NSW want it counted, but those in the REAL world know if it's not 3 Origin games, it aint nuttin' at all.

I could ramble all night about the less than acceptable umpiring in the last Origin, but we already know that!!

Snowy G'Day mate, havn't seen you in a whileBig Smile [:D]
Here's a Pic of the Hasegawa Spitfire MK-8 i did for the 2004 Aussie GB
The decals are the Shark Attack Series made by Aero Image Works and are a fantastic set covering a wide range of Aussie Spit8's, good value for $25:00Thumbs Up [tup]

I also have the ICM MK-8 which i'm doing for this GB, in my opinion the detail in the ICM kit is a little better than the Has kit but the Parts fit isn't as good........
The good thing about the ICM kit is the option to open the gun bays and engine panels....
Cheers Jules........

Jules, that is one mean looking Spitfire......

Mike, can you refresh my memory on the decal disaster with your Mustang?

cheers:

Great pics Bandha, especially the U/C and flap detail. I took a trip in there today and was gettin really psyched up when a guide told me photos were allowed and even encouraged, so I started imagining how much of that close up detail could be captured in some shots but you've done well. I did pick up a Squadron "Spitfire in Action" book while I was there and also a reproduction of a genuine Mk VIII "Spitfire Pilots Handbook". It has some good clear cockpit shots and control layout pics for instructing pilots, so that should come in handy at some stage.

Cheers...Snowy

I sprayed pledge one go on the mustang and left it for 24hrs at least , Then I put one of the decals on and applied the decal solution , this was all ok so I left it to dry .The next day they were wrinkled so I applied some more decal setting solution on and left it .I tried this several times but this didn't remove the wrinkles . so after that I decided to remove them and try again. ready for round twoBlack Eye [B)]

Well I got the decals on my Kamov, and tonight saw a sludge wash go on, which has really lifted the overall finish.

Here is a quick look....

I am expecing to get this little chopper finished by the end of the week so I can start the BoB and the Aussie05 GB's.

Here is hoping anyway!

cheers

It is the Ka-27 ASW version. I think the stumpiness really adds to the character of the model Smile [:)]

As I like the esoteric and strange, this suits me perfectly. The wash I put on last night has really taken the blandness out of the grey finish as I hoped it would !

cheers

Hi all

Here is the Ka-27 with the sludge wash applied.

I chose Aeromaster UK Ocean Grey with a little Aeromaster Tyre Black added just to darken the mix a tad more. One think I do not like is too dark a panel wash as it makes a patchwork quilt out of a model. A appropriately chosen and well applied wash draws the eyes to the panel lines without overwhelming the "look" of the model.

I am a great believer in scale effect...

Next up is adding the undercarriage and application of flat coat.

Doesn't the wash make a BIG difference to the finish?

before wash

After wash

Hope you like it

cheers

Take a break of 22 days over the holiday period, and what do I find.

[:0]5 pages added to this thread[:0], Wow!! [wow]Tweety, nicholma and pingtang reach their 4th star with Jules closing behind themWow!! [wow]. Party [party]Tweety and Darson have birthdaysParty [party] and three new members join this thread.

Congratulations, Tweety, Nicholma and pingtang on your 4th stars, keep the post comming.

Happy B-Day [bday]Tweety and Darson, even though it may be a little late.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]Andrew, Nenad and Doc, good to have you on board, hope to hear from you on a regular basis.

Hope ever one had a happy holiday period, enjoyed themselves, and managed to get some modelling done, I didn't (modelling that is) enjoyed myself though.
Was hoping to spend today modelling but with 42 degree temperatures and a failed airconditioner it just didn't happen.

Found a Trumpeter Kits 1/35 "Mórser Karl-Gerát 040/041on railway transport carrier" under the christmas tree this year from the same person who left the Leopold rail gun there last year. This person still thinks that my main interest is model railways.

Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

Why thank you for noticing Tweety. I've been working on that fourth star for a long time, and you're the first to notice that I'd made it.

It was my birthday on Sunday, and I got some good kits. First I got an Accurate miniatures SBD-3 Dauntless (Awesome kit that). Then the new Trumpeter P-40B warhawk (which I'll do for the Aussie GB). And finally, the new Tamiya Yamaha YZR-M1 '04 Rossi Bike. I'm set for a few months, or until I see something I want to build (I'll have to stay away from the hobby shop).

Just had to share my haul with someone.Smile [:)]

Was it an acrylic wash, or enamel/oils??

Looks good now!

Jules

It is a really easy method to use and was featured in FSM some time back.

This works on a gloss finished model

Sludge wash ingredients are;
2 parts - Acrylic paint of appropriate colour (I use Pollyscale or Aeromaster)
3 parts - dishwashing liquid
5 parts - distilled water

Stir mix, do not shake it!

Use a brush to apply the wash to recessed/raised panel lines, etc and let alone to dry for 20 minutes. The detergent will slow the paint curing considerably.

Then, using a soft moistened (not too much water) cloth and some cotton buds remove the excess wash from the model surface.

The great thing about this wash is that it will not damage the model's finish in anyway and if you are not happy, just repeat the process!

cheers

Why, thanks chaps. Jolly good show.

Tweety- mate, there's 4 of us over on the F-14 tomcat GB with birthdays from the 7th to the 17th. There must be some link there, maybe we are more creative. But more than likely not (talking about myself here).

Jules - I'm 20 years old now. You're not far off your 4th now either. The Aussies are taking over the forum.Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

madmike - The wash turned out great. Before it looked like a toy, now it looks like I could jump in there and fly away (after sticking some rotors on there). Great work mate.

Ohhh, someones a tad hostile eh Mike.....

So how old was this twat that rear ended ya Mgbriggs???
I'll bet the fool was SMS'ing some wally!!

I hate people who sit there and text message everything, even when your having a conversation with them!!!Banged Head [banghead]Grumpy [|(]

Then they get the bill and realise it's cheaper to phone than text.
Strokers, the lot of em I say.

Jules, I didn't want to bring up the 33 thing, cause I feel REALLY old now.
When ya think about it, we're at the Midway (good movie that Wink [;)]) point between being born, and retirement.
And to think, my Dad turned 58 on the 8th!!!!
(There ya go Daniel, yet another modeller in January Wink [;)])

I reckon Capricorns are creative, and 33 year olds know how to unstuff things better than most.
How Zat??

Must agree with the opinions being expressed in regards to mobile phones andCensored [censored]Censored [censored]who insists on using them whilst driving. IMO they should all be shot on sight to prevent them from breeding and poluting the gene pool.

Glad to see you are ok Mike

Hope you have not got whiplash, I had a couple of bad accidents when I was younger and the whiplash is really giving me the gyp now!

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the Kamov, I have just attached the tires and twin oleo legs and she is really taking life now. Once they are set I will weather the undercarriage and get ready for flat coat!

cheers
