                        Tweety1 I use to use brake fluid when I was in model railways, but a club member recommended the use of oven cleaner as it was less likely to damage the plastic. Since using it I have had no damage to any plastic or resin model, can't say if it would damage metal models. Have used it to remove acrylic and enamels, don't know how it would go with laquers as I do not use them.
                        To use it you just spray it on the model, wait a few minutes then brush it with a tooth brush and the paint comes off, occassionally it might take two or three applications to get all the paint off. Then just wash the model. A word of warning wear a mask, eye protection and gloves.

                        It is possible to overspray and dust fiqures for effect.

                        SUBMARINE AE11 the aussie sub that forced a passage through the Dardanelles in WW1 in 1/125 scale not in the 1/700 scale thats available.

                        HEAVY CRUISER HMAS CANBERRA sunk in iron bottom sound during the Guadalcanal campaign lets say in 1/350 scale yeah 1/350 would be tops.

                        i have an aluminiym barrel on the way, a verlinden photo etched detail set and the AS1 converstion ... there is even a Leopard 1 engine i might get, and put that in with the back taken off ... still looking for tracks tho, i have seen them before, but the place doesn't stock them any more Sad [:(]

                        i'm gonna take real care building this, i want to make it my best yet Smile [:)]

                        Moffat's Falcon GTHO Phase 3 and the 1980 Commodore that Brock and Richards used to win the 1980 Bathurst both in 43rd scale and in resin or white metal.

                        I assume u mean a Collins in scale other than 1/35?? (LOL). There's a resin 1/350 by an Aussie Builder called Fleetline Models. Rumour has it that the builder did these a few years back (including an Oberon) and stopped production, then has recently started up again due to public demand for the two subs he builds. Here's a pic from one of my LHS website:

                        Not a problem. Biante manufactures a 1/43rd diecast of the original red, white and blue cars and also the red Winfield car albeit without the "Winfields" script. Go to www.gatewaymodels.com.au they also have thumbnails so you can see whats what.

                        Several years ago Roodecals also manuafctured 1/24th decal sets for all the works cars which fitted well over the Tamiya Skyline, although there are some changes required to the Tamiya kits to accurately replicate these Aussie cars. These decals sets are now extremely difficult to find.

                        I tried to qoute youre message iLuv3eggs but i stuffed it up AGAIN only had this computer for a little time and joined fsm forums as soon as i had some one else set it up for me,ill figure it out oneday .
                        I like your spirit mate i want my Sopwith camel to be the best ive done yet so thats why i like the November finish date it gives me plenty of time to stuff around,the Acadamy 1/32 Camel was not what i expected from an acadamy kit,only 2 sprues and most parts have ejector pin marks all over them.Ive just finished the engine iit took 5 hours to build the 4 parts of the engine.
                        Vickers machine guns,cockpit and wing struts need some serious mods to bring them up to standard.THE FUN HAS BEGUN.

                        [PS] ILuv3eggs try springwood mr toys toyworld for those tracks ask for Brenton he might be able to help and im pretty sure he stocks aftermarket tank tracks.

                        South Aussie is taking care of that minor detail - I dont know where I would put it - but some others in these forums have requested FSM to have a 'Grp Build Only' Forum.

                        Ive just gone back to the drafting of the group build rules by sth aussie and im not sure if my choice qualifies,firstly i was doing Caldwells spitfire but ive changed my mind now i want to do Littles camel but he flew with 203 RAF so the model would be in british markings.
                        My second choice is Cobbys Camel now he did fly in the Aussie flying corps but all AFC aircraftwore British roundels.

                        I'm not very knowledgeable on the AFC, but I feel that if it was an Australian plane flying under the British banner, then in my mind, it should be ok.

                        Lets face it, given our short history of a unified fighting force, it really is difficult to find wholy Australian craft, especially if you wish to do something older, and classy.

                        You can see only so many F-18's anf F-111's till you get bored.Disapprove [V]

                        cheers for the heads up J.S harrison, i might have to go down to spring wood in a few weeks so i can stop by there and have a look !

                        Sounds like you got a bit of a mission there Black Eye [B)] 5 hours to build the engine ! i would of had a fit by then Tongue [:P] Hope it turns out good for you tho !

                        And yeah, computers can be very confusing and annoying ... most of my stress properly comes from this machine Angry [:(!]

                        Tweety1, the intention is to put it in this folder (General Modelling discussion) due to the wide range of subjects, this will be of course subject to the approval of the FSM Forum Admin staff. The thread will be titled Aussie Group Build.

I can't see a problem with either choice as they are both basically Aussie subjects, as for the roundels, if I remember correctly we where still using the British type in the early sixties, in fact when I joined the RAAF in 1969 our ensign carried the British roundel, it was some time in the 70s when we adopted the Kangaroo type (better known as the skippy badge).

                        [PS] Aleksander its got me stuffed why the gov doesnt want a surgeon here considering some of the people they let in to this country,i was just reading in the local paper the other week that the transport dep allowed a Muslim woman to be photographed for her licence wearing full headress you couldnt even see her eyes,so next time i have to renew my licence i might wear a balaclava,if its good for the goose then its good for the gander.

                        Dai,
                        If the aircrew of this aircraft were all Australians that were flying as part of the Australian contingent to the RAF, I can't see any problem, the Lancaster labeled "G of George" would also be in the same boat.

                        If anybody has has any problems with this, lets hear from you.

                        No problems here mate sounds like a great subject,Australian airmen were heavily involved in bomber command missions over Germany and occupied Europe.
                        Are you doing the Tamiya 1/48 scale Lancaster?

                        I'm not sure if it will be in 1/48 or the new 1/72 model. I hit the big 60 tomorrow and my children have offered to get me a Lancaster or a Sunderland plus an airbrush with all its bits and pieces including a compressor! The idea is that i will be able to use some of the presents on my secret vice. A Garden RAILWAY!
