Ill have to go with Beth, Lani, CBrain and the others on this.

Ive been building and, naturally, buying model kits since 1983 (I started young, hehehe). STC (it wasnt known then as such) was one of the hobby shops I went to. All that time the only discount I could remember was P3 slashed off from the price of a Hasegawa F-4K/M. No, I didnt make a mistake. Three pesos. But Im not complaining.

Slowly, over the years, I decided not to buy from STC entirely. Im not a rich man, but to me the discount is only secondary. Customer service is the prime reason. Its not very good. And to me this is important.

I have to disagree with some of the posts made apparently in defense of the store. Yes, the salesclerks are not authorized to give discounts, but is the store owner authorized to mistreat customers? Ever heard of stories where customers are told "di naman pala bibili, eh"? Well, this author was one of those on the receiving end.

Beth is right. We should talk about these things. Its called "Consumer Rights." If people have gripes about a merchant, he or she has every right to complain. The fact that there are only a few stores in the country does not mean we have to learn to live with the merchant's character; its just so sad. We have free enterprise. And the customer is always right.

Allan,

Smile [:)]"Consumer's Rights", as with the other rights we have, shouldn't be abused.

Hi sigman.... I'm sorry to have been perceived as starting or engaging in a healthy discussion in this thread you started. Big Smile [:D] I've no intention of starting one and if you consider re-reading those previous posts.... they clearly have no or in no way intended to "raise" someone's blood pressure. Sigman,
Neither was mine.

cbrain,
I think you you are one the level headed people in this forum, so let's just agree to disagree on certain points.

STC gives discounts to its customers, to those who deserves it and and not to those who demand it.
Personally, I don't asked for special discounts or deals with people or establishments that I do business with. It's one mark of being a good customer. Pretty soon, they'll be the one giving you the preferential treatment without you asking for it so that they can keep your business. And your going to be treated better than their regular customers. It's one thing to be frugal and thrifty , another to be a "barat" or "kuripot" (cheapskates).

Don't really know what JMN means Big Smile [:D]. It's in Harrison Plaza, 2nd floor, right above Shakey's. Last time I checked it was selling for around 200 pesos. The small bottle will last you a long long time.

Here's their website: http://www.jmn.cjb.net/

Wahahaha Big Smile [:D] So, ikaw pala yun! ehehehe. We have something to celebrate... we both got our Academy F-8E kits eactly on the same date. I got mine in JMN's earlier that day. Wow! I finally got to do that road trip I promised myself a week ago.... so to summarize what happened to me that day....

- left home (alabang) earlier as planned kasi nag-brownout.
- went to McDo ATC drive-thru breakfast
- searched for Harrison Plaza, found it, searched for JMN, circled the mall, found it, got me that Academy F-8
- figured it's still too early to go to UP so I went to Megasmall to visit Lil's sana.... damn! Parking's full.
- still too early for UP so I headed for Greenhills.... damn! Parking's full and it was so friggin' hot!
- had my tank filled in Caltex Greenhills beside that Forever Living Prod. building.
- passed away the time in the convenience store drinking Gatorade and thinking of Mang Nestor's fishballs and Zesto Cola.
- headed for UP
- * BAC Cup * time really flies when you're havin' fun.
- left UP, went back to Greenhills.
- found Best Toys selling ARII Macross model kit woohoo!
- headed for home.... passed by KFC to have dinner.
- got home (buti di na brownout).... i'm dead beat.... but satisfied and happy. Big Smile [:D]

Wow! Shop hopping a! Hehehe... as for me, after we left the scene, we went on to Megamall and to my surprised, it was 630 already! I came home around 9 pm and the good news is, the higher command ain't mad at me Big Smile [:D] (I said I'll be home around 6-7 Tongue [:P])

JMN sells Microset and Microsol. I have a bottle of Microsol and it works wonders on decals. Makes them look painted on. It helps to have a gloss coat on first but it's not a requirement. I've successfully decaled a Jagdpanther with zimm and no gloss coat.

One thing to remember with Microsol is to NEVER EVER touch the decal. The decal will wrinkle and look like it's ruined. Resist the urge to touch it. It will stretch out when dry.

what does JMN stand for? where is it located? sorry, really dont know.Big Smile [:D] By the way how much is it?

Hey Maxwell!

Here's a link to some PSG armor by Jeff Pizzaro: http://www.geocities.com/afponlinemuseum/Armor1.html

I'm also working on an OV-10A right now. I'm using the Academy 1/72 kit. I don't have decals for it yet mainly because I'm still researching a particular aircraft. I intend to make a tribute to Capt Mary Grace Baloyo who decided to go down with her Bronco when her plane lost power over a heavily populated area.

Very long day CBrain! We should have taken a pic of both our Crusaders hehe Smile [:)] Are you going to be building it with PAF markings? We'll have to ask the guys about the mods. As far as I know the nose has to be reshaped and the tail pod has to be enlarged.

Hope to see you again soon! Hope the ladies will show up next time Smile [:)]

Dear anybody,

Does anybody know where I can get PAF decals in 1/72 scale? I was able to get a couple of sheets for a PAF F-5 and a P-51 from JMN but that was like a decade ago. Do we have anybody here who can make his own decals using a laser printer and a clear decal sheet? I'm asking because it would be great to make models of AFP aircraft and armor but the lack of decals make it a little dicey. For the record. I've done PAF P-51, F-5A, F-86 Sabre and even the venerable Trojan(Tora-Tora) with Philippine markings. I even did the 1/48 P-26 PAAF by Hobbycraft and applied PAF decals on Hasegawa's 1/72 F-20. I've spent some time at the PAF museum studying and comparing the planes and their markings. The project that I would be looking to do is an OV-10 with PAF markings. I'm also interested in some M113s and giving them the Urban camo scheme used by the PSG. Suggestions would be welcome.
