Camo,

You might also try looking up Czech Masters 1/35 Iraqi Freedom Soldiers (1&2). I think these would be great figures for your dio and might work out well for you. Squadron.com has them both at a decent price.

If you want to see what they look like built up, go to CMK's website and look in their 1/35, US, figures. I think their website it pretty easy to nav, so you shouldn't have a problem finding them.

I was thinking of using them in my dio, esp. the #2 kit.

Do you have pics of the Warrior kit(s) you are looking for?

yeah, i looked at their site. the problem is i was searching yesturday and came across a perfect set for my hummer...the pics showed the guys unpainted (white resin) and there was a humvee driver, a passenger and a mk19-.50cal gunner (in shooting position)...and i cant "refind" those!!!! as far as warriors...what a trip. found sites saying go to their official web site....click on it...PORN!! my m-i-l was like what the hell are you looking at! Laugh [(-D] thank god the wife didnt see!!! Wink [;)]

but yes model, checked czech masters, along with many others...guess i just need to look harder. came across some nice looking figs...most arent what im looking 4 because there not really doing "anything"! i dont know...im home now, i can look for them as long as i need to and if u guys come across any others let me know. i'll find those other guys somehow...and someone that carries them!! thanks as always guys!

anyway came across stuff like this...while cool...hmmm...! also found my hummvee crew...they're out of stock for 30 days. Boohoo [BH]

Oooo.... I like'm! As far as the colors go ... Hmm .... you pretty much see everything over there. Some guys I've "dealt" with were wearing all black, but then again that was at night.

I'd just look up google images and search for "Iraq". I think you'll get plenty of good images from that.

Its a little hard to see from the image, but step back and take a look at it ... does he look at little too relaxed for an insurgent with US swarming around him. Not sure how he measures up to the balcony wall, but is there a possibility to turn the head as if he's sneeking a peek over the wall? Just a thought.

This one continues to come along nicely, camo. Great job!

he isnt able to look over the side. he is hiding "below" the sight level of the balcony. i can always make a different insurgent and "try again" and have him looking over the side. i also thought about the whole black thing but then i thought well, even though i've seen shows showing the fediyeen (?) in all black i wanted to give it some "color"! definately would be easier to do in all black!! Laugh [(-D] i have 2 admit i wondered how realistic it is to have an insurgent with an rpg so close to his "target"...although i suppose all targets can be close b4 the ultimately put distance between themselves!

ok, if i have a guy looking down...should i have a grunt aiming his rifle and looking up??

teehe! With the grin on his face it looks like he's got a toy plane running through some flowers Tongue [:P]

Now that's a nice looking kit that I've had my eye on for a while, little pricey for two figures and a base I wouldn't use though, sorry your kits OoS

And as for your fig- I guess model hit the main points, lol can I talk about the pants though? All I'd say would be the fact that those pin stripes either make him pretty fly, or you were going for corduroy- maybe over there that’s actually in style! lol jk corduroy fans, meant no harm! Tongue [:P]

I think if you do mod the head to look over the balcony, I’d just have maybe the top of the head showing and a hint at the eyes, like he’s in the process of just getting a peek and no one on the ground has seen him yet, although I’m sure someone will soon as those balconies would probably have quite a few eyes pinned on them if the Censored [censored] already hit the fan (?).

Yeah I think the only issue I have is this pose would have him looking upwards- maybe they have an Apache coming in? Or a Blackhawk or something, might be another use for that RPG- maybe why he hasn't popped up and sent it towards the HMMWV.

Hmmm, I don’t know now- maybe this pose is good, it’s already got me thinking of a 4th dimension to this dio “off screen”

Your call (also I can see how mod-ing a new figure when this one's pretty nice could be a little Banged Head [banghead])

OK ok so sorry for posting three times back to back, been busy at work the last few days. Then trying to catch up on all my builds, or make sooome kind of progress. Not to mention see some friends now that I’m back home. Finally going to see Star Trek for the first time tomorrow, anyway anyway-

http://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Scale_Figures/HFT00000578/product.php?s=0&t=5&pg=1&ppp=24&sb=stocknumber&so=a&kw=stryker

if this was the one out of stock and you were still waiting on it. About $26 w/out shipping, but if your in the market for multiple items, you’ll get the same shipping price (about $8) if your total order is under $40. Just a quick FYI, I’ve had good experiences with these guys, not a secret under cover salesman I promise.

i hear ya p.o. btw, wasnt going for a specific look on the pants Laugh [(-D] i was trying to use some oil paints and the result is as u see. it didnt want to cover for some reason...and i have a primer coat. so, i will let it dry and stick with my enamels.

anyway, i figured, if it was u or i kneeling down we would be looking up because we couldnt see what was going on over the ledge so the natural action would be to look and listen waiting to strike! however, its kinda generic after talking to model and i think it would be more dramatic having him peek over rather than sitting there. maybe just prop up against the wall the rpg. the rest of the figs im waiting to order from the mail. so it might be another week or so b4 i can do something more substantial. so much 4 trying to be done. however, its the figs that are the easier to do/paint!!

The thought/ idea that I have in my mind with the insurgent(s) is that they ARE hiding on the balcony 1) b/c they RARELY engage forces that are so close (personal protection) & 2) b/c they highly out numbered. I was just thinking about one of the insurgents trying to get a sneek peek at what was going on .... seeing as if they're hiding out on the balcony, they're going to be trapped inside if the Troopers start searching. Tactically, the best thing for them to do would be to lay low, observe, and NOT engage. US would most likely move on w/o even knowing they were there.

HOWEVER, I know that you kind-of have a different idea for the whole feeling behind the dio. So, if you're going for more of a shoot out feel, I think that you should have the guy peeking over the wall while holding an AK above his head (over the rail ... in the spray and pray shooting stance.)

As posted before, 9 times out of 10, nothing really "interesting" happens on patrols. That's just the nature of an insurgency warfare. This all just depends on what you're going for.

Just throwing ideas out there for ya. Honestly, I'm not 100% clear on the final idea you're trying to go for, but I was rather just admiring the progress at hand. I have no doubt that once its done, I'll be able to tell what you were going for.

As far as dressing them in all black, I wouldn't. Those guys were OBVIOUSLY bad ... out in the middle of the night, dressed in black, AKs, duffel bags, shovels, picks ... ACOG sights on their chests ....

The only other people that I saw in black would be VERY traditionally dressed females.

Just my My 2 cents [2c]...

no, your right on model. and i get it. with everything changing like it is i dont even think I know what im trying to accomplish!!! Laugh [(-D] sometimes trying to commit to everyone's ideas (while great) is really more difficult in the end! however, i have a really good idea as far as what im trying to accomplish and i will use your idea of the insurgent for that more dramatic feel. i think him looking over the balcony at overwhelming odds will give that "trapped/urgency" feeling to the dio! so thanks 4 that model! it'll make more sense once i can finally get all my figs together and in their place!

Either that or just place all the figures down on the street around a plastic outdoor table playing poker .... and then change the title to something like "Your call", or "Straight Flush, B*TCHES!!!" and then have one of the Soldiers throwing some cards down! YEAH ... I like that one. Laugh [(-D]

model...spent way too much time doing that during "my time". Laugh [(-D] (the cards thing). anyway, went to michigan toy soldier co. today and purchased a couple of guys. they're from new world miniatures. really nice figures...they just didnt have too many to choose from. so i picked these three...

really nicely sculpted with alot of detail. expensive though.

I'd say start with a medium blue gray like intermediate blue, and then drybrushing with a light gray overall with some emphisis on the high wear areas- seat, knees, front thigh area...

well, thanks to stik i managed to get a good look for my insurgents pants. i really like the way they came out so thanks for the help stik!! Big Smile [:D] he still needs more work...i need to highlight areas other than the pants. also tried to "dirty up" his shirt a little with some gray. i think the highlights will blend it together nicely.

Shock [:O] ya here that model! Sorry he's in my scale range, I know he's a little tiny for you.

Thanks for the info camo, I've been looking for more 1:35 M-14s as the only one I have is from the "modern sniper" Dragon figure kit. That one has a scope, if I get the kit I'd probably swity the plastic one out for the resin, then use the scopeless version for in perhaps a Vietnan setting, sorry just brainstorming here Taped Shut [XX]

thanks stik...your idea! while i also agree with the "fila' and nike...i aint about to paint it. if he was wearing a t-shirt or something i might put it on the shirt! but thanks! Big Smile [:D]

chris: yeah all i ever had was the dragon sniper as well. only thing with this m-14 (besides no scope) is the hands are molded to the gun...although im sure with careful effort u could remove them!

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I wasn't going to say anything about the blue on blue, didn't think it was a huge deal and if you hadn't noticed it, didn't want you to have to paint even more if it was just my opinion, but since you asked, yeah it was a little too similar for my taste, I agree with Stern0 about the color, I mean it might not be a tac vest or anything, but I think a tac kind of color (maybe even an OD) would work for him.

And thanks a lot for that PM camo! That was awesome

Camo, I've been eye-balling those NWM kits. I like'm. Good choice. Are you planning on adding sleeves and a helmet to the contractor guy? Just curious.

You insurgent is looking great. However, yes, you're dead on about the head-to-toe denim look ... he'd be dead of a heat stroke before a bullet touched him, but before that he'd die of embarassment from his fellow insurgents laughing him back to the '80s. Hell, give him a "sea gull" hair-do!!! HAHAHA!!!!!

I was also thinking about the AK vest and the spare RPG rounds as well. Nice call Stern0.

I'm really excited about this one. You're staying on the ball and working slow and that's paying off HUGE! You're work is making want to get some done with mine .... I'm so behind....

actually model, the contractor comes with two heads...one with the ball cap and one with a kevlar! btw, what's wrong with the 80's?? ya notice i didnt give him a rock band patch on the back!!! (guess u had 2 be there). btw also, those points just seem to keep adding up!! your on your game this morning bud! Laugh [(-D] funny non the less!!! thanks 2 about the kits. only prob is there isnt enough to choose from.

although its hard 2 see this warriors insurgent has a rpg backpack! gonna try and make a mold of him and use different arms to get the pose i want....perhaps! as far as my work...well, i have good input from great people so...it should be good when finished! Tongue [:P]
