A 120mm fig!!! REALLY!!! Ok, now you REEEEALLY got me! Don't know if it really means anything, and I'm not trying to say that you were bad before, but its been fun to watch your progress, both in updates and in quality of work. Kudos....

Can't wait to see your updates for this one. Are you planning on posting your new fig on the other page?

btw ... you'll thank me, Rrrrr .... you'll thank whoever that was that gave you the idea for the HMMWV when everything is said and done.  :)

Measured the base, and it's about the same as yours, 8in x 7 in. I have decided the use the hummer. But cant work out which one! I am doing a S.F. Hummer and a USMC TOW hummer. Might throw in the Marine hummer and save the S.F. hummer for another dio i am thinking of!

As my building is half destroyed , what can i use to make rubble for around the base and interior?

The interior is smooth plaster, what could i use to make it look more realistic?

Cheers guys!

Grim,

If I may jump in ... I think it really depends on the kind of rubble that you need. If you need bricks and you don't want to take the time to make a few out of putty and then mold/ cast them, then verlinden and other alike make "rubble" kits. Or you can make them out of putty and mold/ cast them. There's always dirt/ sand from outside, sifted of course to add to it. And lastly, what I use .... plaster. Plaster is best for irregular pieces and even better for dirt and dust than .... well, dirt and dust. Just break up the plaster into pieces and use what you want. I have a small plaster "spares" box that I save pieces in for later just in case.

HTH.

Cheers M.C. I picked up some model railway stuff today, and will experiment before i put my diorama together.

Might be time to start my own thread rather than hijack this one!

while i appreciate the desire not to hijack my thread (something mc knows all too well Whistling [:-^]) i will help you any way i can grimmo.

i assume you are oversees...not here in the states? if you have access to celluclay (or even plaster) you could make small "clumps" of it around your dio then just imbed bricks, real gravel, kitty litter, wood, sand, and yes even real plaster into it (make sure its covered, sand etc.). this gives the illusion of piled rubble without having to "build it up"!

as far as your humvee, i was going to put my tow hummer into this but the guys said ("i dont think you see too many tow mounted humvee's in the city)...would've been easier for me as t was already completed!!! Whistling [:-^]. never mind they used them to take out saddam's sons (in the city) but whatever! Mischief [:-,]. so, your call on that one...not sure how much you care for accuracy. me, i just try to make it look good as it goes on my shelf, not to the local judging booth! hope this helps ya!

Cheers Camo. I am in Australia, where we still get some good kits, but bugger all of the good accessory shops and stuff like that.

I'll be doing a bit of experimenting before throwing in the rubble, dirt and other rubbish.

As for the TOW hummer, i will be changing it to one with a 50cal on it. Lot more scope for little details.

 Thanks for all the Help!

Make a Toast [#toast] right back to you sir! just as well you experiment with the rubble. it doesnt take much but im sure you wont have any trouble! i also agree with the .50 cal mounted on the humvee...was going to do that myself b4 i went with the mark19! anyway, good luck, let me know if i can help in anyway...and g'day to the mates down under!! I have seen them for sale, but have the kit version of the wooden stock M-14 and the Glock-17 too! Awesome kits, very easy and quick builds, and something different to build! According to the latest dragon catalouge, there are 3 different M-14's, and 4 different M-4's! I am hoping they do some 1911's, SLR's, anything really!

your right grimmo. just ran across them. mc is desperately looking for a 1/16 m-14 for his awesome figures he builds! didnt know anything about them until i came across it earlier today. so they're easy to build eh! cool! im sure they'll make some 1911's...they have too! how's the rubble thing going?

model, this is a kit from dragon..........................unfortunately, its not 1/16 but rather 1/3. Sigh [sigh] but i'll keep looking!!! i know kinda cruel... sorry no fowl intended!! just thought maybe it wet that appetite a little! i know its out there i know it!!! will look moe tomorrow!!

SON OF A Taped Shut [XX]!!!! HAHA!!!

Its cool camo, really. I just thought your last post of the beginning of God's second coming that's all. But seriously! This is the second 1/35 M14 from Dragon (the other comes from their older sniper kit). Doesn't anyone realize that there's not a 120mm M14 on the market!?! Some company could make a KILLING modeling this one particular weapon. Just think about how long a service this rifle has had ...

... SoapBox [soapbox] ...

For now, the M14 remains ... dammit, I wish my scratching skills were THAT good.

Anyway ... enough of jacking your thread. Where your figure? I need pics!!!

yeah, promised it yesturday...will have to get it out there today. but first the grass, the pool and the weekend yard work. the fig is done i assure you i just have to glue hime together!!! Whistling [:-^]

nope that m-14 isnt 1/35 its 1/3!!! guess dragon made different weapons as model kits to be put together! again, im sure u could pull it off as far as a make but your right, as long as the rifle has been in existance, i cant believe no one has modeled it in that scale as an "accessory"! Confused [%-)]

No worries on the fig. It'll be great whenever it gets posted.

Hey, wave across the fence when you're doing then yard ... I'm right there w/ ya!

...whuh...why not? lol j/k- I guess that’s me- “Update!! Painted a strap! Update!! Got those shoelaces painted up!!” Laugh [(-D]

sorry to hear that M14s in 1/3... I know Dragon does those 1/6 scale GI Joe style action soldier things, I figured it was that scale, what would one do with a 1/3 scale weapon with no figure to go along with it? Or perhaps a small child could use it for mini reenactments... Thanks for the congrats camo, I'll pass them on to my brother, sorry I've been absent, my work weeks are getting crazy, Fathers Day Golf Tournament, one of our bigger ones for the year, did some over time and will be making a large bonus, but other than that, just a lot of time away from the house, and a lot of sleep to catch up on. Glad you're still moving along, but I'd love to see a progress shot or some kind of rough outline of what your base is looking like with the new figures, even some unpainted/unbuilt figures as stand ins for their future selves would be cool just to get a sense of the action.

Glad to hear that $15 figure was worth it, I want to invest in a few now that you’ve got me hooked lol- can’t wait to see the paint job!!

well well well...look who made an appearance. thought maybe you got lost somewhere! Whistling [:-^] progress has been slow chris...not that i dont want to finish it...i do. only painted one figure at the moment just to see how i'd like them...well, u know what i think!!! Thumbs Up [tup]. cant speak for the germans but the modern figs...awesome! i'm tellin ya chris, dont know if it was me or the figure but the paint just melted on this figure...i was really really impressed!! also been working on a 120mm fig and will post him shortly too...although i might "redo" the paint on the face...again!! Whistling [:-^]. anyway, now that im making time to paint again guys, things will start to move again. next paint job...the n.w.m. sniper! saving the insurgents for last! then when that's done i'll spend more time on the humvee! ok...i promised an update and here it is. this is my new world miniature figure (saw gunner). i've painted other figures from plastic to resin but this figure for some reason just was an immense pleasure to paint. seemed like everytime i applied the paint it just covered beautifully. i havent looked at these pics yet so im not sure if they give this justice or not. anyway, all comments welcome and more figures to follow soon...i promise!! Whistling [:-^]

enjoy and thanks for being patient with me!! Big Smile [:D]

NICE ... really nice. Good job, camo .... and BTW, the painting was all you. I doubt that the figure painted itself. I just wanted to make sure that props were given where deserved. Again, nice job! ...Thumbs Up [tup]...

THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!! (I'm pulling our conversation about the czech figures over to your thread ...) I can't believe how expensive those things are. That means that basically, if you shipping is 10-15 bucks, they're charging almost 10 bucks per figure. Of course its completely up to you, but I think you'll feel better about them if you scratched them. After painting, you probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference.

btw ... didn't I see psst somewhere around here? He's kinda like that litte knat that buzzes into your ear, but you never see him!!!

PSST!!!! Whatever we did, we're sorry!!! ... Your mom said it was ok to come over and play!!!!

yeah, that is expensive. Censored [censored] so i probably wont buy them...still out of stock anyway. trying to get some more insurgents from a company...they want $8.50 for shipping...only cost me 4.50 for all three boxes from verlinden!!! Confused [%-)]

yeah that little annoying buzzing in your ear is him saying....iiiiimmmmmmmm hhheeeaaarrrrr. j/k chris!! Wink [;)] guess he's out making the big bucks right now so maybe after he has his animal crackers and milk he can come play! Laugh [(-D]

hahahaha glad you guys missed me. Yeah yeah, here I am. Nothing I've done has been updated in forever. I don't know when I'm busier, at school or at work. I was making the big money, but I just dropped about $350 on a Remington 870 over the weekend, so now I'm back to not so big money. lol so much for my recent bonus haha easy come easy go. I really like that figure camo!! Turned out really well, looks like he’ll blend in with your other figures as well, so nothing lost by painting them all in different stages, sometimes I find I get noticeably better, or forget the colors I used and something just doesn’t click.

...I don’t know though, he looks real enough if you tell me he has a little 1/35 paintbrush and he took care of it for you- I might just believe ya.
I find his pose pretty interesting. He’s got that huge SAW, but it looks like he’s doing some shooting and scooting- maybe have his ammo carrier yelling at him from behind some cover to hurry up and cross that street! haha jk
He doesn’t look like the box art though, glad to see you making some custom figures for your dio camo!

he's just like the box art except i cocked his head to make it look like he's scoping someone out before he shoots! wanted a shooting saw gunner rather than pay alot for one so he worked out!! besides, that "huge" saw is only what i forget 12-15 lbs! not really heavy. never fired one (just held one) but i assume there isnt much kick...at least less recoil than an m-60 (which i fired alot). who knows chris...im off to paint my sniper (and in case u didnt see it i posted my 120mm figure in the figure forum) Big Smile [:D]

Yeah- it also looks like you brought the gun up more to eye level, hard to tell by the box, but it looked more like he was still in the process of shouldering it. I guess yeah, 12-15 lbs on a shorter compact weapon wouldn't be as bad as on a longer weapon like a rifle. At least it keeps the balance more inward. But he definitely looks like he’s shooing! Good work. How much of the figure did you glue on prior to paint? Was he fully assembled? Sometimes in 1/35 I have a hard time getting into spots if that’s the case...

he came all assembled  (molded) except for his arms, weapon, and head. in other words the packs, ammo pouches were premolded so i painted the arms painted the weapon, then painted the head...really nothing to it. the sniper comes the same way! no "hard spots" to reach on this figures!!! was on my way to michael's the other day to get some new brushes...noticed a new store that just opened...a hobby lobby...much to my disappointment...not a model store Sigh [sigh]!! more like michael's!! anyway, found some real nice brushes in there that will help out my figure painting! anyway, yeah i "lifted" the gun up a little more to eye level for the shooting look!!

Camo, not sure that HL is going to be to your taste ... they don't carry Humbrol paints ... Still, they are pretty decent with some of there modeling supplies. Especially b/c they have decent "sales" on certain things in the store, to include their modeling supplies, with 30-50% savings. Last time I was in my local HL they had 30% off on models. Not too bad if you're into what they carry.

However, I actually have a REAL modeling question for you .... I've decided to scratch my own building for my BoM build. I was wondering if you had any under construction pics of your building? I've never scratched a building before and it would be nice to see how you started and finished your's.

I feel your pain on the LHS issue. My nearest is about a 20 minute drive into down town. However, I'm still jealous that you're within driving distance to Mich. Toy.
