I think the CF - 105 Avro Arrow is by far the sexiest aircraft built

F14 Tomcat , no doubt.
The Tomcat with the old (circa 1978) VF-1 " Wolfpack" high visibility scheme.
Best looking plane with the best "operational" markings.
Amazing that the navy allowed such brilliant colors back then.

Without a doubt for me its the P-51D Mustang with the B-17G a close second!

F-106 A , by Convair. Its sleek, fast, powerful, " Delta Dart " at it's best.

F-105 Thunderchief.
As for most attractive, however, I'd say A-6E intruder. She had real subtle lines, nothing too sharp!

I think it´s Corsair F4 and in second place the Polikarpov I -16, both clean and smooth.

Actually, it was the AVRO Vulcan; Vickers built the Valiant and Handley-Page the Victor

I don't much care for much before WWII, but for that era, I tend to lean toward the Corsair in the Pacific Theater and it really is a toss up between the P-51D and the Spitfire. As for the modern era, I fell in love with the F/A-18 from the first time I saw an artists rendition, and having had the opportunity to work on them was a dream come true! Now that it's older, I really liked the YF-23 before it got bumped by the YF-22.

Prettiest, but not sexiest - 1049 Constellation
Coolest, but not sexiest - F-105 Any Model (B,D,F or G)
Sexiest - B-58 No Question.

Ok, it is hard to just pick one so I will go with some of my favorites. I like the Mustang, FW-190, bf-109, KC-97, Constellation, PBY, B-52 (don't laugh...I think it is beautiful in the air), DC-3, f-15, Britain had a Vampire...possibly a de Havilland, the Mosquito and Beaufighter, and I think I will stop there. Big Smile [:D]

Hey everyone!

Well, after going back through this thread, I'd say we've got an impressive array of answers. Choosing just one aircraft is difficult. My initial answer, the F-15C was a gut reaction (as are all of these answers, no?) but after thinking on it for a while, I have to add more. Picking one overall aircraft is too limiting.
So, I'm adding to my list.

F-15C (as previously stated)
F-105D (Ugly? maybe... but it has that attitude that everyone's talking about... gotta love that. Plus, the one here at the Texas Air Museum flew 292 combat missions over North Vietnam. Anything that can do that is beautiful in my book!!)
Fw-190D-9/11/13 Just a beautiful airplane! I've built about 15 of them in the past decade and never seem to tire of the possibilities! A truly sexy aircraft!

that's my $.02

THE BONE BABY! The B-1B Lancer is the sexiest! You should see how it looks as it slides gently under your tanker and you ever so gently extend the boom and the green "contact" light comes on as you softly engage her a/r receptacle... Yea, I was a air refuling operator!
A CLOSE second is the B-2A stealth bomber...

there are several I think that would fit this catagory....but after much brain crunching, I think for me it is the: P-51 Mustang (especially the later versions) this is one mans opinion. also like the B-58 and the SR-71...and there are others.

I would have to say that for WWII era aircraft, the sexiest is the
P-51 just gleaming in its natural metal finish! For modern jet aircraft, definitely the f-16 block 50 with the wide mouth intake. For sure!

Guy's that is the one and only Lockheed Constellation.
Those curves she has simply the best.
She is the Marlyn Monroe of the air.
No one close in beating her.
Those lines, perfect.

Fighter: Absolutely any P-38. My second choice would be either the Mansyu Ki-98 (Go to http://j-aircraft.org/xplanes/ to see a pic. In the Site Areas toolbar on the left of the page click army aircraft, then Mansyu Ki-98) or the Lockheed XP-58 Chain Lighning (Go to http://www.aerofiles.com/lock-xp58.jpg to see a picture). As you can see I have a thing for twin boom tails!

Bomber: VERY tough, as bombers are also my thing, but XR/XF-12 Rainbow (newly found through this forum) is awesome, as well as the XB-52 (with the bubble canopy) and the convair B-58 Hustler.

Remember you can be 14 and still like aircraft (look at me). They are for all ages and everybody who is anybody likes them, at least that's how I think it should be!

Yup, cmtaylor has got it right with the TSR2 (What might have been, *Sigh*).

Anybody mentioned the Space Shuttle yet? As it re-enter's the atmosphere, and by definition becomes an aircraft, the sight of that glowing airframe is incredible.

You can understand the sacrifices these pioneer's make.
