I'm going with the DC-10, any natural metal B-17, and the Spitfire. The reasons, Sometimes a woman that a man finds sexy, not only has looks, but attitude, or a certain strut, that goes along with their looks to make them sexy. this is the same for aircraft. all of these have a certain attitude, and they seem to have a strut to them when they're flying, and even just sitting around. WHen these sit around, it's like seeing a sexy woman with a skirt when she's sitting on a chair with her legs crossed. by the way, when is spring going to get here? You know the potential for greatness, or are just imagining being behind the wheel of some thing great. Just like a woman, you can imagine fufliing your fantasy for some thing great that you want to do, but you may not be able to. Unless your married, and or are flying with the Confederate Airforce, or some airline...!

Alright guys end this P-47 fiasco we all get the point.
As for my choice for sexiest plane ever, very simple, the sleak, fast and brightly colored X-1. It was the first time the sound barrier was ever broken, and with Chuck at the controls who could argue. It even looks good hanging from the NASM's rafters. Go baby go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sentimental favorite is the F-4 though. Call me a hypocrite, but at least I don't bash other planes.

As far the SR-71 goes, I finally saw on in person and was not impressed by it's size I expected it to be much larger. I did not expect to be able to touch the underside ot the wings as I was able to do.
Phantoms rule the skies!!!

Without a doubt I'd have to say the P-51D Mustang. It was sleek, beautiful and deadly. Just ask the Luftwaffa!

A question like this was asked on another message board and the response given by a former Vietnam veteran in my opinion was the best I've ever heard, "it's the plane that rolls down that runway that will take you back home."......Amen to that.

Take care

The nicest kit I have seen is that MiG15 farmer wich comes with the clear fusealge and transparent decals... you can even see the highly detailed jet engine and internal feul tanks inside

the douglass A-4f also have some nice lines.... just completed an Italeri 1:72 of it.... (btw. it was my first serious attempt since i took up the hobby again a month ago.) still using spray cans as the airbursh just stays out of pocket's reach here in south africa

I am AMAZED to see that NO ONE has mentioned the North American P-51D Mustang as sexiest plane!!! But, with me, it's a tie between it and the Chance Vought F4U Corsair (any variant). Two of the best-looking aircraft ever designed. Also, the F-4E Phantom II...............
Oh, and the Grumman F7F TigerCat........
Oops, I almost forgot the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk.......
MAN, this is TOO hard for me to do!!!!!!!!!! There's just TOO many I like!!

By the way, the Vigilante was made by North American and was designated the A-5 and the RA-5C. I think that it was originally designated the A3J (but don't quote me on that) before McNamara decided to revamp the military in the early 1960's.

B-24J.. see it in flight it is really an under appreciated aircraft, I have flown in the Collings foundation Liberator and watched it fly and the plane is soo dam brutal looking its downright pretty ..especially coming at you head on at 50ft with the throttles wide open.. what a sound!!

First I would like to thank corrie for acknowleding the F8F Bearcat. I voted it as the best prop fighter in that first poll. No one else agreed with meSad [:(]. This has to be one of the most overlooked aircraft that I can think of. I would consider giving up a semi-vital organ for a chance to fly that beast.

As for the sexiest plane? That's easy! Beech Staggerwing. Followed closely by the Stearman. There's something about flying in an open cockpit that is difficult to understand unless you've done it. It may be a tie due to the open cockpit of the Stearman.

Hi everyone! I read all the responses and was saddened to see that no one got this right. The correct answer, of course, is the P-61B. This, naturally, is closely followed by the P-61E/F-15 Reporter and then the P-61C. It was big, sleek, and you didn't want to be on the receiving end of it. Glad I could clear up the confusion.

:)

So I've been told, flying the F-8 Bearcat is *better* than sex, according to Steve Hinton and Jeff Ethell.

But for looks, you just can't beat the Connie. Most beautiful airplane ever built.
