Manny,

I would join the build if I had not already built it this year. I wish I would have had those pictures you have when I built my kit. They provide a pretty detailed look at the A/C. Thanks for sharing them.

If it makes a difference, this Mojo will be following along since I've already donated some sweat and tears to this project. 229 is interesting and entertaining so it'll be neat to see what you fellows come up with.......not to mention the plane is interesting too Wink

oddman is a 229 Groupie!

I have no idea which kit/scale yet, but I am thinking "long range escort" with my build.

If the wife said i couldn't take part, firstly i would want to know what she was doing in my house, and second i would stab the B***H. But seeing as those dates deffinatly count me out, i will just look in from afar.

Bish, where are you deploying to? Or are you a double-0, sworn to secrecy and addicted to martinis? Indifferent

Certain situations may mean asking for 2-29 day extensions, so long as it is cleared with the wife... Wink

I am off to the Falklands at the end of Jan and not back till end of April, then i have 3 kits for 2 other GB's to do, including my own. So i can't really drop out of that one.  maybe a 229 day extension would be better.

As for clearing it with the wife, i will ask my Solicitor to ask her's if i am allowed. But she would probably want even more off me for saying yes.

Wow, the Falklands? That's quite the commute. Glare at Argentina for me will ya? Angry I was just reading some background on the Falklands War a few weeks back thinking it is a subject that could prompt a group build of some kind.

This will be my third time there, i just got back at the start of August. Its an 18 hour trip if all goes well.

I don't think i have ever see a Falklands GB and i have a chinook with the right markings, which is good because in the UK that the type we mostly work with and are on the same base. Might be an idea for 2012 as it will be 30 years since the war.

I'll need to go with an extension too, I'll pick up a kit somewhere around the first of the year.

Currently planning on going with the 1/72nd Revell kit.

Will be built as a fictional license built Japanese 229 aka:

Nakajima Ki-229 'Koumori' (Bat)

I'll do the Revell 1/72 kit, now I need to go order one.

Wow, way to make me feel old, I remember closely following the activity in the Falklands war with my friends when I was in the 8th grade. If you get a Falklands GB going for the 30th Anniversary I'll join in.

Maybe you can do a paper Ho-229 for this GB, all you need is scissors, white glue and $5.50.

Me and Vance are arranging it. Look out for a post in the new year for a build starting next Octish.

So what age would 8th grade have made you. I was 12 at the time and remeber watching the daily updates on the news. Of course we didn't have news 24hours or the internet at the time.

Not a bad idea, i can take it with me and build it there. Maybe i can get a penguin to agree to take it for a test flight.

LMAO....

Oh, and one more thing:  Oddman, I hereby bestow upon you the coveted "229 Badge in faux gold with Fig Leafs, Crossed Forks and Rhinestones"...wear it with pride...

Er, before I dutifully accept this gracious award...which 229 Badge am I receiving? THE 229 Badge or the one from the build?

Glad that you asked, cause the be honest, we need an artist's rendition of just what this would look like ala the "Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds"...

Bish I would have been 14 during the Falklands war.

I've seen some of those paper models built up into very nice models, some I thought were plastic at first glance.

Aaronw Thanks for that link. I just registered and found out that firstly you get 3 free, unfortunatly the 229 isn't a free one. and second you download them and not have to wait for them in the post. I have got the 229 and the me 109, just gotta pick two more freebies. This will give me somthing to do next time i am away or even when home on leave. I think i am going to take a handful with me. If they get ruined, i can just print another one off and start again. Thanks bud.

Manny, put me down for a 1/64 scale Fiddlersgreen Ho 229. I bet you won't see that scale or brand on here often.
