Hey guys there is an outfit on Ebay selling the 1/48 Dragon Ho229A kits for 29.99 with free shipping, got mine from China in about a week. A great deal in my book considering most there are going for close to 50 bucks with shipping.

Did someone here say they are going to reissue the kit ?

Well, started on my Revell kit last night. I was happy to notice that the kit can be built up as a series of sub-assembies that can be painted and then assembled into a whole. I put together about 75% of the kit in two hours. Then I airbrushed the cockpit, tonight I'll try to add a wash and then drybrush it Friday. Hopefully everything will be dry by the weekend and I'll be able to paint the seatbelts and other details as well as put on the decal for the instrument panel. At the same time will be spraying the interiors of the engines with Alclad metallic paint. Will try to have photos when everything is painted and just before I close the model up- probably this weekend.

Only problem noted is I found the directions on where to attach the retraction struts to the main gear struts a little vague. No locating hole or anything, I think I got them in the right place though.

For those of you wanting a little inspiration and can get the channel...National Geographic Channel is starting the show on "Hitl*rs Stealth Fighter" in about 20 minutes. Good show with some good close ups of the 229.

SP: When I think of the 229 and superheroes I tend toward Batman (wonder why!?!) but the Punisher sounds cool too. The Revell kit seems pretty common so hopefully you can find one.

Guess not but I did not know...some places censor it so it is completly unreadable so I figured I would beat the bot to the punch...guess I just punched myself.

I think I might be in... I have the excellent little Revell kit which I opened for another GB about 18 months back but never had the chance to finish. Here's a perfect excuse! (If I can  find the time... again!)

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Herr Field Marshal here you go:

I'm not that good with 1/72nd cockpits but I think it will do. I ended up with a bad case of eye strain just from this:

Exterior of the engines painted Alclad jet exhaust with a little aluminum dusted on the tops:

Interior of the engines and the aft landing gear bays. I'm assuming they were metal and not wood too:

Overall shot of the Alclad aluminum painted gear legs and wheels plus the gunmetal cannons. Also I went ahead and painted the wings with the yellow leading edge ID stripes, masked them and painted the white home defense bands:

Very nice build so far. I've used a little putty but everything seems to fit quite well.

I'm liking what I'm seeing here (for the most part)...

One thing you may want to consider before closing it up is blanking off those exhaust areas with paper or thin styrene stock so that you can avoid the "see though" effect once you close em up...many reviewers have noted this to be the only shortcoming of the kit...instrument panel decal looks decent...Yes

Hey folks,

Started my own Mannymobile from Revell last night and here's where i am at.

Pit:

Forgot to mention that the IP is a flat piece of plastic so you are forced to use the decal:

Guns... Still needs a drybrush of white and then gunmetal. Also added a light black wash to dirty it all up:

And for some obscure reason i just used a piece of cigarette wrapping paper (the thingy you pull out) after just opening a fresh pack. Ah well it was lying there and the gold looked cute. Will be all blacked out ofcourse once i glue everything together. It's closed and that's all it needs...:

The afforementioned "gap" (NO,... my hands and other parts are not green in real life; only when i get mad...) :

Hope it reaches the standards expected..Smile

Thanks Kermit. Glad to see I'm not the only one here. It's good to be backed up by my fellow mean green machine.

Don't smoke so I took a piece of alumium foil and wrapped it over the bottum of the engine but it was too shiny. Sprayed the foil down with Alclad dark alumium and think it will work.

Not familiar with this term Manny, in accordance with Wehrmacht directives I'll delay starting anything until the term has been clarified... Wink

BTW Thanks Vettman and Vance!

P-38: Wow - looking forward to seeing the 1/48 kit. I was suprised how large the a/c was in 1/72nd, the 1/48th should be quite impressive.

And I call Manny Herr Field Marshal since I was brought up to respect my elders and Manny is what- about 120-130 years old now? Wink

PS I thought about asking Manny to replace the term MOJOs with HOHOs considering the Christmas season. Then on second thought the idea of having Manny refering to me as his 'ho' is somewhat disturbing... Indifferent
