good point boss-man I really havent thought about that...I was also looking at the front-sides of the pit that are open to the engines....I imagine there must have been some kind of firewall or something....I dont think you were able to see the engines from the pit...

Sweet...one thing to consider is that slot behind the pilot for the canopy is fiction...the canopy slid on conventional rails...might want to fill it in.  Great detail in the cockpit!

Looking great, Mike!  I always liked the look of the "unpainted" factory plane---if you go that route it will be really cool...I have the full article on how the guy did it if interested...

WIPs as promised:

All grist for the 229 mill, really, not a difficult kit and one with potential to be adapted to all sorts of possible marking schemes. I've a hankering to do a tropical scheme such as still used in Italy in '44...

I've been looking at plan sheets and comparing them to finished builds on the web, especially that unpainted one where you get to see the natural wood. The "panel lines" where the skin sheets met are awful interesting, but not reproduced by Revell. Would it be accurate to say the timber would be dressed to a superbly slick finish and the joints would essentially disappear, puttied and painted over? There's no point scribing heaps of lines if they're not accurate...

Just gotta do something with the see-through effect, then I can do the major assembly work. I'm looking forward to the camo...

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Hi all, I'm making some progress on the 229, and hope to have WIP pics soon. The cockpit is done, am working on the engine bays, looking at curing the see-through effect with something, and hope to have the fuselage closed up soon. Add the wings and gun bay panels and she'll be ready for masking. I'll be working in MM Acryls, and will need to order in the RLM 81 and 82 which would be a good bet for a Luft '46 scheme.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Carlos,

Manny posted some photos of the cockpit and a half complete airframe back on page 6 of this thread.

He also posted some photos of a fantastic bare wood build on page 1 and 2.

Funny I hope poor JeffW isn't now trying to figure out to get his wife to let him pay $229.00 for a stamp... Tongue Tied

Gave my Ho a nice warm soapy bath...after that have started with the engines....interesting...my first DML/Dragon kit.....nice detail...strange grainy surface...terrible seams on the engine halves... I hope it gets better as I move along.

Maybe now some of these "agents" will stop snooping around my house....my modeling elves are getting nervous....just in case they just rolled this off the production line to help them protect the home front...
