Not right now, I'm still picking away at the -38. I should be laying paint down this weekend, meaning I can devote my focus on the wing again. You know, other than the paper version.

What can I say, I had to distract the inspectors with some tangible progress, just like the phoney US Army unit that was created prior to the Normandy landings.  This, I can crumple up into a ball & let the cats/spies bat it around the floor, keeps them occupied for hours!

This is the compact, lightweight version wearing a Northern Hemisphere "ghost" camo pattern. In the absence of aircraft carriers or suitable land bases, these were to be unfolded and deployed from u-boats. The specialised pattern is very hard to see if you are suffering from snow-blindness...

(But seriously, I'm up to my eyeballs in that P-38, takes up a lot of room on my non-existent work table. It's coming, just not quickly!)

Post-shaded Hercmech. The aerodynamic dimples (like on a golf ball) were also experimental at the time, and applied one at a time before painting, what a pain. That's what has taken me so long!

Canopy on backwards... I knew I should have used pencil instead of pen.

 

 

Dimples huh? Now you can call me impressed. Just be careful that the "dimple counters" don't look, I think your left wing is missing a couple.

Actually, there are the correct amount on the left wing... it's the fact that the left wing is, uhhh, larger than the right makes it look like there aren't enough dimples! And yes, it does act as airborne zimmeritt, lessening the impact of bullets & reducing the chance of getting hit by a rocket!

is that.....Zimmerrit coating on the wings??
