Manstein's revenge:

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Vance.. alas...
maybe Irene blew in Vance's new friend...
Nope - I had several evenings last week, and lots of time over the weekend, to spend on the Horten project. I'm at a point with it where I can't make my fingers do what my brain envisions. To be honest, I may have been better off starting with a solid block of basswood & going absolutely old-school & carving the bloody thing. I think my expectations are likely too high on this one. It needs to be out of sight for awhile so I can focus on a couple of items that I can complete to my satisfaction... then it can come back out at a later date.
That's surprising---the last pics of it showed great promise...although, that was so long ago my memeory probably isn't accurate of what I actually saw...Can you repost pics of where it stands now or has it turned to dust...
mid-wing skinned over, outer wing panels solid basswood. The biggest problem right now is the leading edge of the wing, trying to get a profile that is close to correct. Maybe if I cut the existing structure back 1/4" or so, I could add a basswood strip & sand it down to the correct contour??
You can see the gap I'm fighting with here...
Also having no fun trying to get the (insert giggle here...) engine pods to settle in as I'd like them to. Maybe I need to go at those the "other way 'round"... get the pods to fit & align first, and then make room for the cockpit??
