It was one of those "surfing eBay " finds.. It is a neat kit to... Looks like a fun easy build..

I'm adding wire pins to where the wings attach to the main body..

Wow, that's a rare one! It would be fitting to end this GB with thge first of the line! Go for it! (Though I still fully intend to get Red 13 onto its landing gear before long, having now finished that Abrams. Some Phantom tails to do, and knock of this Isherman, and she's my next scheduled completion...)

Not lost, on hold. I think I need to file for another 229-day extension. Embarrassed

 VanceCrozier:

Yep, that was the Dragon kit, including my first real use of PE in the engine. It took roughly $30 worth of paper, plus supplies, iirc! Wink Good detail all around but poor wing-fuselage join and really finicky main landing gear - complex to start with & Dragon didn't make it any easier for me either.

You didn't mention the Dragon kit plans................

I take it that the "paper wing" has been lost to the ages?

 the real red baron:

Why not just make a luft 46 GB?

HO-229's… Meh.

Horton hears a who?

HE-162's are better

Not sure I can say that the Salamander is better... but at least I have one off those completed!

Vance I haven't seen any WIP pics in a while?  My last recon flight over your workbench by an Arado 234 revealed no progress...

Well there is a local group that started up this summer in my area. They meet at the local Legion, which I could walk to in 15 minutes if I wanted to. Once a month on Thursday evenings... Thursday is a scheduled softball night for me in the summer; and a scheduled practice night for my daughter once I'm wrapped up for the season! Bang Head

I'm on an update list for a group in Fredericton, an hour+ drive away. (more for contest updates & LHS specials than anything.) I saw one of the guys offer up his place to "the group" as a kickoff to a big group build they are doing - hmmmmmmmmmm..............

One local IPMS group used to meet in the local library.

Any chance of that near you rather than driving an hour or more?

the update is: I'm bloody well kicking everyone out of the house on Saturday so I can take over the whole kitchen table without people trying to (no really) eat there! The nerve of some people!

You may need to join a local IPMS Canada chapter just so you can get away .............

Turned out there were ten more piecesof stencil data and some more clear to do... Couldn't get my head round the following bit so worked on a tank instead for a while...

M/TB379

Sometimes if the stencils seem excessive I just leave 'em off...

Decals finishd and sealed with a heavy clearcoat -- panel wash done. Flat coat next, then I can remask and spray the gear bays, and assemble the landing gear...

Nice looking build Thunder Beer.  I must say, that craft was WAY ahead of its' time.  What an amazing concept given the time in history.  Of course, look at a lot of the German WW2 inventions, jet and rocket propulsion, V1-2 pre-ICBM's etc.

Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom.  Peace be with you.

Thanks, guys! A few more decals to go, then on with more clear. I use the Microscale finishes and they have a great self-leveling ability, so if I flow them on as smoothly as I can, well-thinned, they'll fill in the roughness. The paint layer is the culprit, and the worst part of it, I'm sure, is that I need a new needle, I've reground the old one about as many times as can be...

Nice camo scheme and decals...like Vance mentioned---hit it with a few gloss coats to level it out then hit it with a coat of flat and she should be smooth...

As requested, a pic of progress:

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn48/MikeTheModeller/RevellGo229/DSCF0811.jpg

More stencils to go on, then onto the sealant coat. I'm not happy with the pebbly finish, I really must get a new #3 needle... MM paints are less forgiving than Tamiya, it seems... The insignia are Microscale, everything else is from the kit and they seem to carry a milky residue...

M/TB379

Pebbly finish - just watch where the light source is in your photos, and nobody but you will be able to tell i nthe pics! Is the pebbling in the paint layer? A couple of gloss coats should have helped that level out some.

I really had to lay on the future to get my decals from silvering.
