Sean- The photos don't show any evidence of trouble, looks perfect to me!
Dave- Sounds like you'll be painting in no time.
Roger- Sorry you're having such trouble with yours. If you don't mind, here's a couple of things that might help on the next one. Some are things I knew, others I have learned here.
1. Have a plan. For instance, I knew I had to let the glue on the fuse dry overnight so I started the build late enough to allow for the gluing session, but also gave me enough time today for decalling, Future coats, final coat and assy. Needed to have paint done last night and Future overcaot for decalling session first thing this morning. Needed to overcoat decals this afternoon to allow time for final coats.
2. Pick a subject you're familiar with, and a kit you are comfortable with. Less shock later in the build process.
3. Acrylics for speed of painting, Future for clears as it sets up quickly.
4. Learn when to say "that's as close as I can get in the time allowed".
Not trying to be a know-it-all, just thought I would share.
Just sprayed the satin coat (8 parts Future to 1 part Tamiya flat base) and when that's dry in an hour or two, I can add the final piece (generator prop on the nose) and I'm finished. I decided to go with a satin coat as these aircraft were built, then sent off on their one-way mission. Not much time to sit around and weather.
Pics soon!
