Andy- Ohhh, I love it!  That is such a cool looking bird.  A bit ungainly, but purposeful.  Wish someone made it in 1/48... Sigh [sigh]

I was at the Air and Space museum in September and, given I never really paid much attention, I couldn't believe how HUGE this thing actually was. It's amazing ....

I give up, I can't keep track of everything that is posted here.  How Frank managed to finish and still make 40 posts in the last 24hrs I'll never know.

I had a bit of a set back this evening.  I was cleaning up the armored glass plate and it fingerpulted off into never never land.  Not a sound was made after it left my fingers and 30 min. of searching turned up nothing.  Even did the sock over the end of the vacuum thing and still nada.  Add another 30 min. to manufacture a new one and I'm an hour behind.  Better get the Jolt Cola out, it's going to be a late night.

Scott - Wow, your plane is looking Mighty Fine, I have been wanting to pick up this kit myself . What color did you use for the seats ?

Bondo - I really could not even think about working on a kit after being on the road all day. I would be needing a "stress reliever nap"

Roy - a little Hay never hurt anyone - come on Cowboy Up Cowboy [C):-)]

Frank - Not only are you faster then the Flash, you have X-Ray vision. I still cant see the problem withs Jeffs landing gear.

Jeff - The 109 is Sweet Thumbs Up [tup] too bad about the gear , I wish I could say this has never happened to me before Whistling [:-^] Sigh [sigh]  It always amazes me how small that aircraft really was !

Matt - The Stug caught me by surpise being 1/48 ..I really want to get a Sherman of that scale to build. That looks like a pretty complex kit you got going there..Thumbs Up [tup]

Andrew - I was placing bets you would be the first one done, The yellow layed down really smooth. Looks like that bike ride in the cold was worth it ! Cant wait to see yours finished Smile [:)]

Panzerguy - I am speechless with your ability to work putty. Are you a body man or sculptor by trade ?  I really like your project, and to be made from scratch Bow [bow]

Andy - DieHard 4 is what came to mind seeing yours ! Great workmanship..

And Thanks too all who commented on my WIP Make a Toast [#toast]

Thanks Frank , luck of the Evil [}:)] I guess. If you watched me mix paint and the A/B I prefer to use you would need some Rolaids  Laugh [(-D] It will save me a few steps when it comes time to decal the bird  Propeller [8-]

Dave - Check your Hair, I spent half the day once looking for a MIA part . I had given up and low and behold I had it the whole time Blindfold [X-)]

Ain't that a pill? That's the beauty of these kinds of builds, the "craftsman" drifts over the centerline now and again. I haven't pulled a "Frank" just yet, but the tile monster took an elevator trim wheel from me for about 15 minutes before I found it stuck to my elbow.

The wingroot surgery went surprisingly well. I've got this knarly coarse sanding stick with big black granules on it that I bought at the drug store for very little money, but it shows plastic NO MERCY!!!

First coat of paint on, the pit is basically done, major assembly tomorrow morning and then Future/decals and we're finished. One big thing is it's got a vac form canopy and I've never made one so small before. luckily there are two to try. In hindsight I should have bought a plastic Me-109 for a canopy, but I'm gonna face it like a man!

Speaking of which, this is the first Messer I've built in a very long time- I could really like this a/c.

Off to bed, see you tomorrow.

Hour 6, end of day 1.

Sean, I'm glad someone is keeping track.  I'm going to need another weekend to sort out these posts to find out who did what so that I can post a group album at the end.

Checked the hair.  No luck but I think the home made piece turned out just as good if not better so I'm good to go.  I just need to mask and attach the canopy and I can start putting paint on it.

HI Guys

I'm back from Bendigo ) 2hrs drive ) , and madly trying to :

Apply Decals

Attach undercarriage and doors ( mostly now done )

Attach the flaps

Paint those odd pesky black panels ( nose cone and a bit on the fin)

Attach the drop tanks from hell

Attach the pitot tube

etc etc....

I've got four hours to go, and here's how she looks:

Still awake here too! Awesome work everyone is turning out! This is a mighty fun GB.

Got everything glued together, engine is in, pilot is in and canopy is on. Got the propelor done and the landing gear finished too. Here is the top coat of USN Blue-Gray M85:

I'm going to let this sit overnight and then unmask and spray the underside with Gull Gray tomorrow morning and then glue all the fiddly bits together. And hopefully have all the decals on before 5pm tomorrow.

WAKE UP DAVE!

Last post for today..err yesterday...um.  Whatever.  Got the link and length tracks on.  No locating tabs, so I tried to go with the sag to get a point of reference.  Guess they're OK.  Next up... filter wash on the upper hull, decals and weathering tomorrow!
