well it dont look like i well make the 1700 deadline i set for my self for it to be my 48 hrs gb. it is storming here like cats and dogs.  i had to do a little respray on the mutt and it outs in the shop drying  with the heater on it to speed it up a little. i should be able to make th 0000 hour with no problems. i was going to camo the mutt but i am keeping the paint scheme simple just od green.  the only problem i see is spraying the furure on it. has anyone had any luck with it on cold rainy days? i do know how i can get it dry fast just put it up near the heater

Heat and any kind of paint thinner fumes scare me. All I do is elevate said model on a bx lid extc and put it on the back side of a fan. The air is sucked over it and not onto it so the lint , pet hair extc is sucked right over and not onto the wet paint and future. It drys pretty fast that way.

28.5 hrs in  Looks like Red was the choice, I had some Insigna red, I believe it drys to a duller finish. Well I am calling my Airfix Pe.2 with Polish markings done. I would of like to gave it an overall spray with some Dull~coat but none to be found in the household.  For a kit of its age it was as much fun to build as it would have been 30 yrs ago.  I'm finished! This has been great fun watching you all build and post and being able to post my own progress. It's great to finish a model- this is only the second I've finished and I've started many... Nothing like a deadline to get past the areas that bog me down!

I like how the sensor ball turned out:

shot of the tail:

Lots of issues but lets not dwell....Wink [;)]

Everybody elses stuff looks great- I'm really impressed with what everyone has done- with much more difficult builds than mine.

Anybody else ready to go again next weekend?Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Man, it's impossible to keep up with the super fast pace of the builds and posts!  So..... great work everyone!  I hope you're all having as much fun as I am!   Big Smile [:D]

Here are a few shots after I sprayed the RLM 79.  I use Tamiya Acrylics exclusively and used a mix of 3 parts XF-59 Desert Yellow to 1 part XF-64 Red Brown (then the whole mix gets thinned with a 50% addition of Tamiya Thinner X-20A... always thin Tamiya Acrylics regardless of whether you're airbrushing or hand painting).  After I got good overall coverage I added some white to the mix to lighten up the upper surfaces.  It's very subtle and difficult to notice in the photos, but it's there.  LOL  Laugh [(-D]

I think someone asked what color I used for the leather seats several pages back.... I used XF-64 Red Brownwith a little XF-60 Dark Yellow added to lighten it up just a tad.

Cooo eeeee, Boys. Its me. Its taken me about an hour to go through all the posts since i came home and bu@@er me if you lot havent done wonders. Aaron i cant believe youve done 2 models as well. Interesting subject as well. Apparantly it wasnt a suicide buzzn bomb, but the bomb wasnt flying quite right so they Jerry rigged a seat in it and used a test pilot to trim the bomb for level flight. I even think one of the test pilots was Hannah Riesh.

I feel a bit of a saddo having to wait till tuesday to start mine. Seems to defeat the main reason for the build. To build them all together.

Finished at 4:55 PM EST 11/30/08 had 5 minutes to spare. This was a really cool idea for a GB and I had alot of fun. Some great work going on to boot, and all the completed builds look great. One thing for sure I didnt have time to take care of a few seams the way I would have liked but it still looks like a Jaguar.

Well I'm back from work here, and just trying to get up to speed on everyone elses build! I'm impressed! Y'all have certainly turned out jewels in such a short amount of time! Andy, Scott, Jimmy, Aaron, and anyone else I may have forgotten (I've only had a chance to view pictures here) Hope to be to y'alls level somedayBow [bow]

Well, I know I'm far over time here, but I had a chance to pull all the clothespins off and (will wonders never cease) that upper wing is actually staying up!!!! Awesome! Since it was an early day for me (albiet pretty intense), I'm gonna hit the showers here in a minute and start on some of th touch ups I need to make. God willing, I'll be hosing her down with clearcoat this evening!

Not to worry, there are more pictures to comeCool [8D]

Oh, and someone brought up the idea of doing this again in a couple of months- I'd probably be down with that! I'll just put a little more realistic thought into the next buildWink [;)]

Warmest regards,

Roger

yeah - definitely Hannah Reitsch flew it . She also flew the Me 163 in testing and the huge Messerschmidt Gigant - if you see a series called the Secret War, she's interviewed- very interesting !

The Taifun has its spots!  Not my best work, but I'm happy with it.  If time wasn't such an issue I would have dealt with the gap behind the clear plastic canopy piece, but I can live with it.  I'm going to finish up the landing gear now and paint the propeller while the RLM79 and RLM80 get settled.  Then comes the decals and a flat coat.  Almost finished gents!  Tongue [:P]

Wow! Some really excellent builds guys!
Our oldest son just turned 16 this weekend so I haven't really had the time to check up on your builds until now, but I must say they look wonderful!

Next weekend I'm starting my build of the Corsair, and hopefully I'll get it done too!

Cheers,

Matt - The Stug is Incredible, I really like how the "red Skull" jumps out and means business. Fantastic Thumbs Up [tup]

Andy - That is one scary looking machine, those things just amaze me !

Racedriver - 5 minutes to spare, that was cutting it close. I belive it would have taken me a month or more to build that Jag - even if it had a prop Laugh [(-D]

Dave - I almost decided on a Komet myself for this build. She looks Great, your almost there no distractions ya here - quit thinking about that New Giant Full Suspension juice brake MTB for Christmas.....Wink [;)]

Scott - "Show~off" here I was in panic mode the whole time and your build looks like it has two months invested in it . Well Done - More - More  I cant get enough of this build I tell ya Bow [bow]

Josh - Nicely done, she looks Perfect to Me , I might just have to build one of these soon myself !Thumbs Up [tup]

Aaron -Incredible Finish  How did you manage to attach antennas ? I will have to wait days before I can attach mine as to let the paint cure completly. Who needs Future when your paint is still tacky Propeller [8-] Looks like to me you could knock out another. Whats fueling that 103 ? Left over coffee grounds Wink [;)]

Roy , Nam , Roger  where did you guys go  ?  sheese I need to take a break after trying to play catch ~up with this building frenzy Shock [:O]

Sean I'm still here.  I was trying to finish the sanding to I can start painting the gray underside.  Yet it is not to beSad [:(]  Had to use some more MR. S 500, small gap that will not go away.  I have less than 3 hours and it looks like I will not make my 2000 hrs MST deadline (8:00 PM for Dave Wink [;)] )  I will post pics of where I am at the deadline time.  My wife told me that if I didn't help my brother move yesterday I would be done by now.  Next timeWink [;)]  Well it's back to the bench.

I finished at Five but am posting now. 2 hours before my deadline, sorry if I dissapointed anyone with my snail pace, but this was a challenging build to do in 48 hours. The rigging was the killer, and I had a very busy weekend thats why I didn't talk much. Well here we go.
