Well having sufficiently rested and now inspired by the work you gentlemen.  I'm off to the LHS for some supplies and should start at 1400.  The Hurricane and the Spit remain unstarted as well so maybe the triple will be attempted.

WOW! Just waded through the 15-odd pages of updates from the last 2 days (amazing!), and there's some great stuff coming out of this GB...one question, though -

Why do any of you spend more than 48 hours on ANY builds? They're AWESOME! Make a Toast [#toast]

Ahh, cause I'd be divorced if I disappeared on my wife for entire weekends like that on a regular basis. Wink [;)]

EDIT:  Oh, and my Revell Snowberry might take a tad longer than 48 hours to put together. Clown [:o)]

Just checked out the first page, amazing work people those builds look awesomeBow [bow]. A special shout out to Matt for completing the Stug. I would have never been able to finish an AFV build in 48 hours.

I'd like to thank everyone for the comps on my first wingy thing. Got to admit I didn't think I'd be to into it, but I will be giving it a go with another one soon. I'm going to have a go at a 1/72 JU87 tank buster. Any thing that has twin auto canons defiantly deserves a tryApprove [^]. I'm looking for a decent kit so if anyone can give me a heads up on which kit I should go with let me know.

Thanks to our host Dave (Razordws)Make a Toast [#toast] for getting me to try some thing deferent and for me only getting about six hours of sleep this weekend.

Now I'm off to start Dupes 251 GB.

There was a good write in FSM awhile back that did Academy's 1/72 JU87 Tank Buster.  It sounds like a good little kit.  I could look for the issue and let you know.  In fact it may be somewhere on the FSM Mag website still.

I wish I had 48 hours to work on itWink [;)]

Steve, If you go to FSM's main page under How-To-Articles then Aircraft it has it under Subsriber only extras, Dec 2006.  You can download the whole article.  It's worth a look.

I can definitely vouch for the 1/72 Academy kit as I have built it.  It's a beautiful modern kit with great detail and well engineered.  It will definitely be a welcomed change from your Ju 88 classic.  The only thing with the Academy kits is the decals.  They are totally useable but they are thick, take a close look at the Comet I did for this GB and you'll see what I mean.

I have no idea what the best kit is in 1/48 but Hasegawa just released one in 1/32 though I don't know if they have the tank buster version. And there is always the Airfix 1/24 kit if you're up for a challenge! Mischief [:-,]

If you're interested in larger scales, Hasegawa makes one in 1/48 (kit#9054) and 1/32 (kit#8075).  HTH!

Thanks for the heads up on the Academy kit guys. Wow 1/24! I'd need a spare room just for it! I think I'll stick with 1/72. I‘ve been thinking about doing more of the tank buster variants and I don't want to loose to much shelf space.

Okay I'm off to the lhs to do some shopping.

Pictures of life have been posted and as of 1400 Central Standard Time my builds are underway.  Will post actual pics of progress as time allows.  Pics can be found at

http://public.fotki.com/lewbud/Weekend-GB/

Will our hero be victorious or will he be defeated by time and sleep deprivation? Will he put the individual blades of the Hurri's props on backwards?  Will the paint and thinner fumes drive him stark raving mad? Will men and boys stand and cheer and women swoon when he's triumphant?  Only the Shadow knows.

Not much to report.  Hours 1400-1500 spent dealing with apt mgmt, cleaning off workbench, posting proof of life pics and cleaning massive injector pin marks off inside of fuselage.  Hours 1500-1600 spent primering, diagnosing airbrush problem (clogged nozzle of paint bottle), getting new airbrush to actually shoot paint and then applying some interior green to cockpit area, seat and floor boards of the Buffalo.  Also cleaned up parts numbers and injector pin marks on cowling pieces and assembled cowling.  No work on Spit or Hurri yet.  Update pic at

It's 1700 and time for another episode of As the Buffalo Turns.  Installed the bottom glass, cockpit (such as it is) floorboard and seat.  Had to remove some more big honking ejector pin marks and the Airfix logo on the undersides of the wing panels.  Got some big honking seams to fill.  Will try to preserve as much of the rivet detail as possible.  More pics posted, now hearing some decidedly British voices wondering when they're going to get to come out and play.

Looking good so far Buddy. Nice thing about this GB is that it pretty much forces us to actually finish a build. Keep em coming. You too Guy.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pick at the babyface guy! Yer just jealous....Wink [;)]

No, you didn't miss the closing pics. I haven't shot them et. Since I am most decidedly not able to finish the deadline. I'm finishing the rest around the work schedule. Only gotta clearcoat, decal and afix the wheels and prop, and that's it. But I've got a 3 day weekend starting this friday, and I'll have it all completed (and posted here) before then. After all, I gotta SUper Hornet I gotta get crackin on!Wink [;)]

The new place is relly nice! It's actually a really quiet gated community (and no, it's not the funny farm!). A new place, and I'm the first occupant! Still kida in shambles, since I have a few pieces of furniture damaged in the move and need replacing. But other than that, I'm nesting quite well.

The new job? Well, it's been a real rollercoaster! Alot goes down s quickly, that it's all I can do to keep up with the pace! But it's going well. I even made my first apprehension today...Approve [^]

Warmest regards,

Roger

It's update time again. As of 1800 hrs, the fuselage is together, the hook is in, the wings are on and the horizontal stabs are for the most part horizontal.  The fuselage wing joint is somewhat south of square so the wings are kind of cockeyed.  Didn't realize it until the stabilizers were on and lined up square with the tail.  Have reached a stopping point as I'm waiting for the putty on the bottom of the wings to dry, as well as the plugs behind the seat.  Will I be bored waiting? Heck NO!  I've got two others to play with.  Now which one will be next?  Tune in and see.  A couple of more pics have been added.

Buddy, it's looking good.

I had a mishap with my P-40.  Doing some spraying trying to get it done.  So I have extra paint in the cup, open the bottle and think to myself, "With very low air pressure I could spray the paint in the bottle"  What the heck was I thinkingConfused [%-)]

Wow sleep deprevation Roy! A cloth or rag with a little lighter fluid or thinner and it will wipe right off. Even on paint that is dry underneath if done carefully!  My question is how much did you get on you?  Good thing you wear glasses!  More Rum! Make a Toast [#toast]

Roy - to get the spots of your pup tiger use a piece of Green Scothbrite pad and gently scuff them away. I buy one and cut it up in 1" sguares to use for such mishaps, or cleaning excess dried cement off a seam.... Rats, now everyone will know  Wink [;)]

Notice he didn't answer the part about how much he got on himself. I am guessing he looks like a bad case of olive drab chicken pox!

I am digging the P-40 though! I real upgrade from the P-36!

Would be cool to make one of those Night in the desert parties where you can go wild and not bother anyone but the scorpions, snakes and Tarantulas. ... what am I thinking? Geeze!

It's 1900 and time for yet another episode of As Buddy's Workbench Turns.  To recap, the Buffalo is on hold waiting for putty to dry.  Buddy was hearing voices and had a choice to make, would it be a Hurricane or a Spitfire?  All that can be said is that the engine cowling halves are attached to their appriopriate fuselage halves and the cockpit is assembled.  Primer has been shot and I'm mixing some British Interior Green.  Which plane is it you ask? Well depending on your point of view, it won the Battle of Britain.  Pics at next update.

Aaron,

I don't drink coffee, growing up in South Texas I never saw the need to drink something hot.
