I like to join with a Fujimi, F4U-5N Corsair in 72nd, but as we are celebrating our eldest son on the 30th! If I understand it right it's Ok to start the weekend after that instead!

Cheers,

Azgaron

Azgaron, family should always come first.  Dave already has a few guys that are building on different days.  The thing to remember is to do it with a two day 48 hour period.

Rather than washing parts in advance.....if you want to keep hard and fast to the rules.....use some alcohol wipes (drugstore stuff).....dries in seconds.....does the same thing.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]

Thats what I use from time to time. Also, if you can't get wipes, a little rubbing alcohol on a paper towel does the same thing.

Gotcha Roger!

When we had 600 grun.....er, Marines aboard our ship a couple times we donated a workbench in our tiny machine shop for the 'fixer' to work his magic on firearms. Great fun to watch!

But the constant stream of Marines into the shop interrupted our sleep!Laugh [(-D] (Usually a day after they made a couple tons of brass ashore on the ranges.

Naw, we generally got along with our charges very well! But that Armorer always came away as filthy as a bilge rat!

Wow! Wish I had been that good!Blush [:I]

Well, because of my scheduling here, looks like I'll be starting in roughly about 48 hours here!Big Smile [:D]

Warmest regards,

Roger

Dupes, I'll leave that up to you but is it really neccessary to wash them ahead of time?  I don't want to get all technical on the rules here but you guys keep wanting to get your paws on the plastic.  No touchy means no touchy!!!  Sniff and look only!!! Clown [:o)]

Azgaron, welcome to the GB.  Woohoo, a Corsair - HEY FRANK, did you hear that!!!  The following weekend would be fine.

Roger, looks like you'll be the first one out of the Gate.  It's up to you to set the pace Bro. Wink [;)]

Sorry I haven't been around much but I'm glad you guys are getting all geared up for this.  I have a situation at work that is commanding most of my attention at the moment and its been hard to focus on anything else.  I should be ready to roll on the weekend though.

I know it!

After a hard week out on the line and my family being in California on Thanksgiving weekend, I'm not gonna want to do much else other than cut a little styrene!Big Smile [:D]

I have been staring at the styrene bits through the bag (but have not opened it yet! Tongue [:P]), planning my weekend assault.  That lil' Typhoon is gonna put me through my paces.  Here's what I see so far:

1. No main LG bay- have to open the fuse and scratchbuild a bay for them.

2. No optical sensor on portside nose, must create.

3. WIngs look rough.  Appears to have grooves cut into them when they made the mold (to make sure the missle mounting lugs line up).

4. Cockpit needs sume extra detail.

5. Nosewheel needs some finesse.

6. Kit supplied markings are junk.  Have to mask and spray my markings.  Dry transfers for serial numbers need to be painted to tone them down.

7. Missles look so-so.  May have to fill and rescribe the wings to get rid of mounting holes.

8. Gear doors do not look right.  Gonna scratchbuild those too.

I bought two pounds of espresso a couple of days ago.  Planning to work through the night! Big Smile [:D]

Perhaps next time I'll go for the 48 day GB! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

You guys should have heard the silence on my phone when I told my sister that I really didn't want to go to the movies Saturday night........(this is the sister that's driving 400 miles for Thanksgiving at the OTHER sisters house). I will have to hang out, of course. But cutting it as short as I can. After all, I just saw her last XMAS!

Rog....a calming weekend with the kit.....a little bit of radio and TV.....couple pizzas......good to go!

Man I must be behind. My kit is still in the shrink wrap. Confused [%-)] Been staying busy with other models. Keeping my mind off it and the wrapped SS packages that are haunting my dreams. I was trying to entice Guy into joining! When you think of a fast great builder Luftwoller and his elfs are my first image.

OMG!  That is such a good idea!  I never even thought about that.  I always go crazy waiting for the parts to dry so I can get started painting.  Mischief [:-,]  Any particular brand?  Have you had any problems with it affecting your paint, or does it evaporate completely?

Cheers,
Alex

My method - I have some old worn out dish~towells (flour sack type material) - ( Aaron , one of your 20 yr old t-shirts would probably work) and a bottle of Windex. Spray the towell and wiper er' down. Flash dries fast and gets the Cheeto dust off Wink [;)]

OH! I'm Dyin' here!Laugh [(-D]

How one little word can generate such posts!

Shoot! Anyway...Alex....alcohol on P-towels works as well.....I just pay a bit more attention to the outer fuse and wings.......the rest I just wipe without looking. I prime most everything, but no paint issues. (I know from years ago how release agents effect paint).

Alcohol MAY NOT remove evrything......but it's working for me.

I saw your droopy Corsair Sean! Aside from the kit issues your work is fine. I mean once you work your solutuion to the flapping goose wings it will look excellent and that kit is a killer! I am betting that after you get it together it will give you quite a sense of accomplishment once the thing is finally off your bench!  Well off to work with me now! See ya'll tommorrow! Bow [bow]

Coffee filters.  Yep, if you don't want to give up your 20 yr old shirt use coffee filters for cleaning.  They don't leave any lint behind.  If they did, you'd get a little extra fibre in your jo everyday! Wink [;)]

Welcome Guy, you 109 fanatic you.  This speed building ought to be a walk in the park for you Mister. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Bulgarian markings?  Can't wait to see that.

Sean- SOrry your Corsair is giving you fits.  Just a thought- any chance of taking a piece of heavy brass rod and adding it for support in the wings?
