Sean- SOrry your Corsair is giving you fits.  Just a thought- any chance of taking a piece of heavy brass rod and adding it for support in the wings?

Frank - drop down into the Corsair GB, problem solved and moving forward. Gotta love Gap filling CA Approve [^] Just need to rescribe the fold lines and back to the paintbooth for touch~up Laugh [(-D]

Hey,

No hard feelings.  I am still attempting to build the kit in two days to prove or disprove whether it is a "weekend" kit.  I did decide to try something new with the pre-shading technique, and foolisihly used enamels (as described in an article on the technique), requiring 48 hours in drying time alone.  The rest of the work will be done with much faster drying acrylics.  Anyway, good luck to you and your group.

Sean, I went to the F4U GB after reading your troubles. Great building going on there!Thumbs Up [tup] That Trumpy wing trouble was just the weirdest!!!!!

You'd think some QC dept. would have built one up before releasing the thing! But it seems you have trumped the Trumpy!

Thanks , it has been the encouragement of the guys in the GB and lookers like you and Aaron popping in that has kept me motivated .  Yeah the little stuff like ill placed ejector marks is part of modeling. But that wing assembly - Wow...It must of been one of those things that looked good on paper but in real life .... The center hinge may have been closer to the prototype but to weak for the kit.It looked great with the wings folded, but down  as Aaron  said looked like a Goose in flight. Laugh [(-D]  The bad thing was I got wind of the wing issue about 2 weeks ago and it was like a slow leak on a tire. I dreaded looking at it every day (more then usual) wondering how bad it really was going to be.  Just goes to show you some rumors are true. If I had caught wind of this earlier I would have saved quite a bit of time and omitted a lot of PIA assembly.

As soon as that monster is off the bench - next up is a PBY Thumbs Up [tup]

I liked Frankie's suggestion....I'm sure I'll use it someday.....but on that gull-wing, whew! I was surprised in how quickly you got it all together! I would've been calling my roomie in for a third and fourth hand to keep it all straight!Laugh [(-D]

Nice job!

PBY..........

Hmmmmmmmm.....interesting!

Scott, thanks for understanding and I'll be looking for posts of your build over the weekend in the aircraft section.

Guy, welcome aboard.  I was wondering how long it was going to take you to find us. Big Smile [:D]

You can't!!!  Didn't you read the instructions on the pirst page.  You must build your model inside the cellophane like a ship in a bottle.  Wink [;)]

I've done two 48 minute builds this past week. Whistling [:-^]  No seriously, we have a foreign student staying with us for a few weeks and he was hovering over my shoulder when I was at the bench so I gave him one of my old revell kits (P-40E) to put together.  Then my own 8 year old who has NEVER shown any interest was suddenly 'like... where's mine"  Cool, maybe I'll make a modeler out of him yet.

Well, no airbrush yet, so it looks like I'll be doing this the second weekend.  I can't wait until it gets back here and I can get going again.  I am building a better spray booth this weekend, though...can that count as a 24-hour build?Big Smile [:D]

Cheers,
Alex

I just checked my camera and it has no date/time stamp option.  You'd think for $1500 it would have it, but no cigar.  Looks like ya'll are just gonna have to believe me.  Thinking about possibly moving my start time up to later this evening and running through Saturday night.

Ga. it's a rare day that I pray for rain! Wink [;)]  Good luck with the hunt if you do go! Thumbs Up [tup]

Everyone, I've said this before but the purpose of the picture is not to prove the start time.  If you really wanted to cheat there are ways to do so. Evil [}:)]  The reason I asked for a picture of the unstarted build is to see what you started out with.  Some kits have a dozen pieces and some two hundred so it's nice to have a reference of what your working with to see what you were able to do with it in 48 hours (note thats hours... not minutes... not days you people!  Ya... you know who you are Sigh [sigh]

NO TIME STAMP REQUIRED!!!

In fact, if you want to post your start picture early (as some have already done) to save more time for building by all means do so.  I trust you all... well, maybe not Aaron all the time but the rest of you are good eggs! Wink [;)]
