Luftwoller What can I say other than BEAUTIFUL BUILD!!!!!!!!! Worth waiting for, I really like the gunsight and the figure is very well done, adds tremendously to the model. Aint nuthin purder than a well done Mustang. Now I have a tough decision to make........ which picture goes on the front page. You used alcald II paint right Luftwoller ?

Wow, thx guys, you rock,

Fermis, the exhaust stacks were opened out with a brand new no#11 blade. Ive heard that the Hasa kit is a goodun as well, but seeing as ive never built one before, i couldnt advise. If i had to pick one bit i thought was a little dodgy was the guns. They really should have been an insert, just to make cleaning up easier.

Kermit, thx mate. I reaslly was in a quandry about the weathering. I too love the shiney look and it does seem sacrilidge to dirty it up. Im not saying i wont, just not yet lol. Cheers for the remarks on the 'Studio'. Ive seen some other modellers do it, and thought it looked cool.

Sherman, too kind.

Vetteman, thx my friend. It was Alclad II btw. Glad you liked the gunsight. Thats my bugbear with kits, they always seem too simplified LOL. Here the sight close up,

Luftwoller Thanks for the pictures of the gunsight. Now I will have to try and make mine look that good Big Smile [:D] Just cant figure out how some of you guys can make something so small look so good.

I finally finished my P-61 build so now its on for the P-38, I have had enough of a vacation from it. Heres where I needed a vacation from.

Half a tube of putty on this buildWhistling [:-^]

Omg, that's a LOT of putty... But it looks like you'll be able to make something out of that P38. Can't wait to see your progressWink [;)]

Can you believe my (Dragon 1:72) p38 took even more putty??Sigh [sigh] I must admit i have lost heart for the moment and put it away in the box again to, maybe, return to it once i have some more skills...

Geez that is a lot of Putty, Randy. Whos kit is it? It looks like the wing roots went together fairly well and the booms seem to line up?

Luftwoller Its the Revell 1/48 kit an all I can say about this kit is there is no easy part about it, its been a fight all the way to this point. Thats why I had to put it away it for a time. Took alot of dry fitting, fileing, filling, and sanding to get the booms on. Well the wings went togeather ok not too much sanding or putty was needed there. Hopefully it wont look too bad when its finished because foil hides nothing like paint sometimes will.

Yes yes, i'm still alive my friendsWink [;)]...

Last week has been quite busy at work so i did not feel very much like modeling once i got home... (i'm a warehouse guy so that means racking up miles and lifting stuff...deadlines...blah blah...you know the drillSmile [:)])

Today however i had plenty of time to really get serious so i managed to get some actual work done, meaning the pit of my Sabre.:

The inside of the exhaust (?) was treated in a similar fashion: tamiya smoke and the waterbased black paint wash after coating it with aluminum paint.

This time i have used a combination of enamel and acrylic (revell) paints. Once that was sufficiently dried up i used some tamyia smoke (x-19) for weathering up, completing with a wash of my waterbased el-cheapo heavily dilluted (black) paint (see my P47D log) you can buy just about everywhere for dirtying up the results.

Prior to that, all separate parts of the pit were drybrushed with white enamel paint. Interior green in the forward wheel well was provided by humbrol (226). Panels were accented with revell 330 semi gloss red, humbrol 24 matt trainer yellow and revell aqua 99 aluminium.

For this update i have been using a new camera by the way. The nikon L100. Really pleased with it. Also went out and bought a big sheet of white paper in a hobby store to have somekind of photo studio going, curling it up against the wall of my hobby room. Still need some better lights to work with but sofar i am not entirely dissatisfied with the pics i am getting out of itBig Smile [:D]

Any comments are very welcome. Too much? Too little?Blush [:I]

Kermit WOW you really have the detail poppin on this build, lookin good my friend. Hey ya do know we cant have work cuttin into our modeling time ya know Big Smile [:D]

Smokingun Very well done !! Love the markings ya dont see those often, and the finish is perfect. Another fine build goes on the front page, we are going to have to start passing out sun glasses for those looking at the page I tell ya.

Got some sanding filling sanding polishing done on the P-38 yesterday, just about ready finally for some foil.

I did however make a grave error while waiting for putty to dry, and opened the box for my next build for the group, and did a bit of dry fitting. The fits arent bad at all, in fact I was suprised they are quite good really. There is one small problem with the kit though, but with a price tag on sale of 6 bucks I shouldnt complane too awful much. A huge lack of cockpit, landing gear, and burner detail. So if anyone has a stright up the pipe tail shot of the burner on this Jet it will be very helpful to me as there is no burner oin this kit. Also this will be my first kerosiene burner build ever !!!

The 1/48 Testors F-104C Starfighter. Markings will be from the 497th TFW from George AFB, California. The reason I chose this one is my Dad worked on some of the systems on these jets at Lockheed, and George AFB because they were so friendly there in the tower. During my first solo cross country flight I requested flight following with them, LA Center wouldnt even talk with me. Shortly after getting flight following the tower called telling me of traffic at 12 oclock, 3 miles at 3,000 ft. I spotted the traffic, 2 F-16s playing tag with eachother below and ahead of me, by the time I told the tower I had traffic in sight they were outta sight, it was a pretty sight seeing them from above. So I told the controller to send them back I wanna drop down and play tag with them in my little Cessna 152, that got a laughBig Smile [:D]. A few minutes later I get another call for traffic, 12 oclock at 3 miles, and 3,000ft. This time there were 5 F-16s playing tag, before I could call traffic in sight the controler called and asked if I had any of them in my sights, told him yeah right they are gone already.

Smokinguns3- Beautiful job. I'm with ya, while the yellow bands really set off the 86, it is a nice change of pace to see one without them. She's a beauty for sure.

Vetteman- I guess you really can't beat $6 for a kit, but, if you can find a good deal on the Hasi. 104, you won't be disappointed. The thing practically puts itself together. Lookin forward to seein what ya do with her, and the 38(gonna haveta get me another one of those and do the 2 seater)

Try dog fightin with a flock of geese, them guys are pretty darn manueverable!!!

Vetteman, great story there and thanks for the compliment by the way. Must be absolutely awesome to be allowed to fly in a real plane (by yourself that is LOL). Interesting little model by the way. The dutch airforce used to fly em as well. Maybe an idea for a next build? Would want to do a dutch Brewster Buffalo first however...Dinner [dinner]

Hey guys....I signed up to do 2 aircraft (B-58 Hustler & B-29 Superfortress).....I'm going to have to back out of the second build.  I thought I would have plenty of time being unemployed, but I don't. Plus I've got 3 kits started and I really need to finish them before I move onto another.

Sorry guys......Sign - Oops [#oops]

Hi all I am back< and I hope I never have to have a surgery again, the first 12 hrr were the worst in my life.. The pain was overwelming, they just kept pumping me full  painkillers. I spent 4 days in intensive care unit, because of a spinal drain. then 2 days in a room. But so far NO PAIN IN MY RIGHT LEG. The Dr removed all the hardware, 12 secrews, fused lvls 2,3 removed scar tissue from all the main nerves frpm l2 to s1 and removed old scare tissue from my spinal cord. He looked wores than I did after the surgery. Still have a lot of pain in my back so siting longer than 20 mins is the order, and the boss grounded me and took my car keys. So its good to be back, Thanks all for the kind words

Wow JD, that is looking very promising indeed! well done for your doc and i hope your revalidation will be swiftly and without much pain and discomfortWink [;)]

Now that i am here anyways i wish to make an announcement to everyone in the group that i am going to continue my sabre build on a lower priority in favour of some other models i am working on. I must admit i am having a hard time concentrating on this model since it is not a WW2 subject therefore inhibiting my motivation to continue on it.

Hi all,

With my 109 finally finished and in the display case I have a chance to clear the decks and turn to other projects. I got a start on my Tamiya F-84G, at last! I've assembled the seat, done a round of liquid masking on contact points, painted the exhaust parts, and sprayed all the gear bay and bay door interiors with Chromate Yellow of my own mixing (Tamiya acrylics). I've added 2g of weight (crushed air rifle slugs) in the recommended space and by gluing lead inside the fuselage halves.

Next up will be the cockpit, and to pre-paint the areas inside the nose intake.

This is a sweet lil kit and looks like it'll fall together. I put it off a long time partially because the canopy masks on back order from Squadron never turned up, so I'm reordering them and hopefully they'll be here in a week or two.

Sherman1111, I've followed the story of your medical battles and modeling triumphs all the way through and wish you genuine recovery this time. Maybe with all the hardware out of your spine you can heal properly!

Cheers,

Mike
