Jd- I am really liking that catapult. Too bad there are not other kits out on the market that have them or available as just a kit itself !

Stu -  Great start - but bigger pics for us that are half blind after you get your P/B whipped into submission . Blindfold [X-)] Laugh [(-D]

I know.  I was trying but it seemed the only way the images would upload was if I made them smaller.  I'll give it another shot tonight.  Hopefully all it was was connection problems.

JD, I've always wanted to see one of those catapult kits built up.  Looking really good so far.

Stu, Great start also.  Looking forward to more and bigger pics.

Darren, you can put me down for Trumpeter's 1/72 LCM 3 for my build.  I wont be able to get started for awhile though.

Oh Man ~ I so want one of those kits that come with a catapult. The P/E kits look Fantastic also...

Richie - Most Exellent work on the engine. Approve [^] Thumbs Up [tup]

Still not got the "Myrt" on the bench. Was cleaning off the "shelf of doom" earlier in the month and Found a JU-52 with Floats I had forgotten about that was waiting its turn for the spray booth. Also have a Blohm und Voss 155-V1 taking up space on the bench... It is hard to spend time at the bench when the pool outside keeps calling me.  Whistling [:-^]

Hey Darren, Broke sprue on the Wildcat. I'll post photo's of progress, when there is progress. Just sanding and priming now.

I'll be throwing "Tora,Tora,Tora" in the DVD to get the motivation going.

Got some better pics uploaded, and these should be full size.  The first two are of the Pete the last two are of the Dauntless (Fuselage sides glued together last night, no longer available for photo ops)

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] You can never have too many floaty things that go with floaty things!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Thank you Bob and Sean!!!! Make a Toast [#toast] Hope to be putting the cockpit together and get the whole area painted up then close her up. I am really holding back the urge to go all out, but I am trying to make it OOBish. I am by no means rushing but it makes for a much quicker build that I am happy to have another completion when done!!! I have several others that will get the royal treatment though!!!!!

Disco that is very nice work!!!!!! Excellent detail!!!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Im already doing 2 floaties....Im a floatplane fan.....the Seiran is going to the painting booth soon(not really a booth but the box top as a screen to protect the overspray)...

Mucker...time to pick up the research and start some planning....I have more access to materials here than I did in CR when I first thought of it...I just need to get into the  mindset.

Hi all . ran into a problem with paint, used Tamiya IJN grey XF-12 and to me the grey looks a little yellow. Is that right for the Jake? Instructions call out for Mr Color paints. They are hard to get and I really dont care for them. Guess Ill look for a cross referance to Model master.

any sugestions?

JD I have the exact paints called for in the instructions as well as the Tamiya colors XF-11 and XF-12. Have never used the Gunze paints before so will give my feedback on them when used. Holding the two brands next to each other, there is a definate differance. The Tamiya being darker. About to shoot the interior metallic blue green so will let you know. I have a link to a very good cross-referance for paints!!!! Here you go!!!

http://www.paint4models.com/paintchart/paintconversionchart.html

if you are like me you will spend hours looking at this very well done chart with clickable choices as to what brands you want to cross check. Enjoy!!!!

Well got the interior painted. Went on really well! Should have thinned it a lil bit more but otherwise was a breeze! being a metallic color, had to keep it mixed. First time shooting Gunze, and thinned it as I do Tamiya, with alchohol. So here is a shot of the interior bits on the paint stand.

Simpilot34

thanks for the paint chart, its a big help. The cross refferance is xf-20. So I will try this am. It is darker gray.

Cockpit looks good. I have had pronlems with Mr Color paints before, I get stringss like cotton candy out of my airbrush. I even used their thinner. Also where I live on one hobbyshop carries this brand , and half the time they are out of the color I want. So I try to stick with MM or Tamiya paints

Richie - I thought with the Japanese aircraft Most pits were a bamboo or interior green color close to the RAF interior green.   Wheel wells and exposed metal had that "clear blue metalic" or "clear green" stained laquer goop.  Someone correct me if I am mis~informed...

Sean, did a bit of digging and you're right I believe! Actually remember a guy telling me that the other day when I got the paint. The metallic isn't metallic it's a clear blue laquer apllied over the bare metal. I had forgotten about that and was all happy bout using it and then realized it wasn't right after you mentioned it. Anyways like I said, glad it was before she was buttoned up. Here is a pic of a new build Zero cockpit side wall with the shade i think I will darken just a bit so as to contrast with the darker green used overall. Think that will look much better than what it is now.

Thanks mate!Thumbs Up [tup]

Richie:

STOP! Before you sew her up, peruse j-aircraft.com. I'm pretty sure I read that Aichi aircraft used a light gray or light ash color for the cockpits...

Thanks mucker!!!! Will do. I haven't repainted or buttoned up yet. I have to repair my cockpit floor, it broke in half. Must have pushed a tad hard on the seat putting it in and the liquid cement weakened the crack. Anyways will be hidden deep inside. glue it back repaint and go forth!!!

A photo of the progress on the Wildcat.

 DSC_0003" border="0" />

Was getting ready to install the PE, and discovered that the dash panel has went AWOL. I've alerted the MP's, but it looks like I'll be scratchin the dash. Funny thing is, I know I'll find it on the next project.
