Dirk what you have done with that old kit is really astonishing and exemplemary!  Pretty good as well!  Actuallly unbelieveable even!   I see the pics but think Karl is still hallucinating!

Frank I have found that  if you can Get Guy into one of his sneezing fits with a bit of white pepper that I can copy that paint effect on your Zeke simply by stealing his hanky and holding the model up in front of him!  This is how he does his Mottleing but uses jalapino peppers for the color. Yuck [yuck]

Snot camo effect! Thumbs Up [tup]

Dirk and Frank,

Nice work gentlemen.

Razor,

I haven't noticed much of a difference with Mac since he got off his meds (been off his rocker for a long time).  Although he is much more active now, don't know if that's good or bad though.  Would have to ask Dee.

Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.

Great tip Aaron, thanks!  I used the coffee- overdose method on this one.  Drank a double espresso, then just pushed the trigger on the AB and let my shaking hands do the rest. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Frank I'm sorry I didn't make comment on your zero earlier, but it really looks fantastic.  Thanks for the explanation of that camo scheme I'll definitely be giving it a try.

By the way did you find that you had to thin your paint down a lot or was it a normal mixture?

All, Ok I’ve re-updated page 1 and now should have everybody on board.

Cheers

No worries Darren!  I know you are busy trying to catch up here. Thumbs Up [tup]  I did thin the paint considerably more than usual, probably around 70% thinner (Tamiya X-20) and 30% paint.  Sprayed it at about 15 psi.

LOL, yeah... gotta work on my coverage, don't I? Sigh [sigh] LOL...

Dork- Sorry I missed your SBD yesterday, wow!  Swede would be mighty proud of that one.  Nice touch on the damaged wingtip from the Zero encounter. Thumbs Up [tup]

You would think that Wheel Wells and a cockpit would be something to include in a model. Especially if you are going to include pilots.

If you remember I had commented on how disappointed I was when I opened this kit and almost scraped it. After I decided to keep moving forward on it Someone had asked if I was going to build wheel wells. My response at the time was that I wasn't going to put that much effort into a $7 kit. Next thing you know I re-did the twin 30's with some styrene and added PE gun site and ammo belts. Yet there is still no cockpit! After I did the twins I knew I could have made some kind of cockpit but the fuselage was already closed up. I VOW TO NEVER BUY AN 'El-CHEAP-O' Kit again...

for now.

Over all I have to admit I'm kinda happy with the end results.

Frank, the Zero is looking sweet. I love the mottled/wethered effect youve got. Really looks sweet.

Welcome back Darson btw.

Gary -  The P40 is shaping up. The kit has a few quirks but it does build up really nice.  I did not use the open canopy on the one I built. I will see if I can find it. Keep with it Thumbs Up [tup]

Frank -  Man, I am really envious of your Zero paint. You should be writing the How To articles for the mag..  Fantastico Approve [^]

Dirk -  The SBD sure did give you a lot of bang for the buck. I like it and you did a Terrific Job on it . Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup]   Heck one of the reasons I like old matchbox and Airfix kits as they might only have a stick and a easy chair. Once the canopy is on no one is the wiser... I have one in 1/48 scale to build (someday), I hope it turns out as nice..

well after a long time the Elves have completed the pit....took a couple of tries....they are worn out...I think they would have prefered working on another floatie..oh well...

now time to move on....get this Buffalo closed up!

and I got the wing tips fixed too...easier than i thought..

Thanks guys....although Im still not happy with the IP....I already tore it off once and re painted it...I still think the finish is too rough...the gauges aren't that clear....I might take them off again and use some old decals then the PE face over that...tell you this much, Im loosing faith in these Special Hobby kits...kind of reminds me of the old Nichimo kits...they try to make nice details but the finish molds are real thick and bulky...not as criso as the Haseg or Tamiya kits..Oh well thats just my My 2 cents [2c]
