8 Bucks?!?! were you wearing a mask? That's a steal!!! Nice pick up, S.A.R.! You've officially surpassed my record: a $16 1/48 Tamiya He.219 Uhu.

I've just done a bit of a check on the old stash to see what over candidates I might have for this build once the Zero is done and the results really surprised me.

From the shelf of doom I have found:
Tamiya 1/72 P-47D with PTO markings at obout 30% done
Hasegawa BN52 Type 97 (Kate) Torpedo Bomber at about 15% done
Tamiya Wildcat about 20% done with some very cool looking Cutting Edge decals.

In the not started yet pile I found:
Tamiya 1/350 USS Fletcher
Eduard 1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat
Classic Airframes 1/48 SBD-5 Dauntless
Specially Hobby CAC CA-9 Wirraway
Special Hobby 1/48 Spitfire Mk.VC with Aussie Decals
Tamiya 1/48 GAF Beaufighter Mk.20 with Aussie Decals

The scary thing is I had completley forgotten that I had these kits and believe it or not I was thinking of getting the Eduard P-39Q Profipack as a second build for this GB.

Does this happen to anybody else, that you forget what you've got in the stash when looking for a build so you go out and buy something new? Banged Head [banghead]

Yes, happens to me ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Wink [;)]Big Smile [:D] I see one I don't have and say thats just for a future GB!!!!!!!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!Whistling [:-^]

I have about 14 IJA/IJN planes alone, plus the US and Aussie ones I could do just for this build alone!!!! So, I do hope this build will last a good long while with many sequals!!!!!

I don't quite have enough in the stash for that to happen to me, but it's definately understandable.

If you're taking votes, I say clean up the shelf of Doom. You may be able to get a few of those kits salvaged.

Oh yeah.  Last winter we thought we'd get our house ready to sell so I boxed up most of my stash and sent it to a storage unit.  6 nice big moving boxes.  Can't wait to get back to them, it's going to be like Christmas when I open them again.

I've since started building a second stash, and I find myself staring at a kit going "Do I already own this??????  Oh well, better buy it just to be safe."  The funny thing is the kits keep coming out of every nook and cranny.  I had a 1/35 Tamiya Dragon Wagon in the garage I really don't remember buying.  Found a Trumpeter 1/32 Wildcat in a box full of blankets.  A Hasegawa F-14A in My wife's box of sheet music.

LOL. That's good!

We actually do this intentionally with the kids. I don't know how they've accumultaed so many toys but they don't even know what they have so we box some up and bring them out at later times. They think they're getting new toys.

thats great with the hiding thing.

I will be doing more than one considering that out of the 60+ kits I have 90% are pacific theater, out of that 85% are Japanese.

I've got 2 large boxes of unbuilt kits (about 60 total) in the attic (that I can see from below), about 15 filling a cabinet in the garage, and another 10 or so piled on the workbench. That's in addition to the half dozen in various stages of completion! The great majority is muscle cars and exotics, with some motorcycles mixed in. I've just recently caught the bug again for AFV so only about 5 or 6 tanks/planes/ships in the mix.

My brother in law just recently retired & told me he's been stashing kits since the early 70's. He figures he's got about 75. His biggest problem is deciding which to build first!

One thing I know I need - more cabinets.  Big Smile [:D]

Gary - Whats the temp been getting to up there ? If I would of stored kits in the attic when I lived in Vegas they would of became on melted together blob. Also High temps will yellow and dry out your decals...  Might be worth checking up on them..

Richie thank goodness it's not just me Blush [:I].  I've had real problems keeping up with my stash since I had to split it up into multiple stacks for storage.  Most of my kits I would never part with but I certainly found a few evilBay candidates while I was digging through the piles last night.

Charles I'm thinking the same thing as you, that shelf of doom is definitely where my next build is coming from although I did order a bunch of Quickboost gear for the Eduard Hellcat yesterday.

Gary I'm definitely with Sean on this one, you would be much better of storing your decals in a folder or box that's kept at a fairly constant temp with low humidity.

Hello all, just checking in. I heard there was a garage sale here at the PTO GB.Wink [;)]

Darson, I've got Eduard flaps for the F4 and picked up some color for it too. I've also been looking thru photos on the web of restored Wildcats. There are a lot of great shots of this bird and its kin. I hope I can do the old Tamiya kit justice. I've been looking at the HobbyBoss F4F-3 Midway Wildcat too. That looks like a really nice kit. I may have to call my freinds up north and have them send me one w'trimmings. Don't be surprised if I add an additional build or 2 to the roster. Just a heads up. Looking forward to starting this GB and learning a thing or 2 on building AC.

Hey Darren, PM me with a list of 1/48 stuff. Always interested in PTO aircraft.

Darren, can I change around my build list...Instead of the 1/72 B24 (the markings of which happen to be notfor an aircraft flown in the Pacific, but rather indonesia...)I would like to add the Tamiya 1/48 A6M5 Zero...to go along with the lightning...

Indonesia should fall under PTO, unless you are talking about the war for independence there after WWII against the Dutch.

afsf no problemo scale noted.

Mark I'll PM all the guys that want it a list of the kits that I'm going to get rid of, they range from WWII bombers, fighters to tanks, APCs and USMC attack helos.

Justin if you want to change that's no problem at all but as Carlos said The Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) definitely part of the PTO. The region was a major campaign objective of the Japanese in 1941-42 due to the large of oil resources in the area. Defence against the Japanese onslaught was carried out by British, Dutch, Australian & American forces.

Let me know what you want to do.

It be the Red White and Blew and beggin 'is Highness King Georges pardin but we kicked 'is arse, from one drunken clonial to another, here'tis:

a handful of blueberries an a hanful of rasberries and an andful of that wench Maria from Trinidad... but I digress. An andful of mint an a ration of clean water, muddle it up. The a triple glug glug of ethanol, perferably Barbados rum, a big spalsh (hic) o orange juice, stir, add Polly Prep and serve on her tummy, with ice.

The results

A fiend group o' men yer!

Darren, after a long contemplation about my neutrality I decided to offer my services to the allied forces with a Tamiya 1/48 Brewster B-339 Buffalo.

Hey Richie absolutely, I'm really hanging out for next Monday so I can kick start the Zero.  I've been gathering up all the magazines I've got with builds of the Tamiya Zero and (famous last words) it looks to be fairly easy.

The only extra that I've bought for it at the moment is a set of Quickboost exhausts, but knowing me I'll probably end up throwing more stuff at it.
