War In The Pacific Group Build 2009 - 2010

After finishing off a self-induced rough Mustang build, I was hoping to build a quick, refreshing kit prior to tackling the giant Trumpeter Zero. I've got a nice A5M4 Claude by Fine Molds that looks to fit the bill...but does this qualify for a "Pacific" build? I believe the Claude's were used by Japan against China but by the time Pearl Harbor broke out, the newer A6M's were in the front lines.

What does our illustrious GB leader say?

P.S. I've got a few other kits in place should the Claude not be allowed, so don't feel bad.

Well I can't speak for the CO but, according to wiki it qualifies!!! Have a read!

Well considering I jumped the gun with my Serian (see earlier posts)...which is coming along quite nicely....my "official" build will be the Rufe...then I will most likely do a Buffalo I got sitting quietly in my closet...Boy that sure sounds strange!!!!!HAHAHAHAHA

thank god i saw this post.....SO KINDLY ADD ME,, i'm about done with a client's build and i checked my stash to find both a TAM A6M2 zero and a Birdcage Corsair

i'll just do 1 (maybe both, if not too lazy).....hehehe

Mucker I have built the Hasegawa ki 27 and am looking foward to seeing the fine molds version.

Jason, I may have mis-typed...I've got the Fine Molds A5M2 Claude (Type 96 Carrier Fighter). I've built the Hasegawa Ki-27 as well...very nice, especially for an older kit. I wish Hasegawa made some of the more obscure bombers (like the Peggy, etc,) in 1/48. There were some neat lesser known old IJA and IJN planes from WWII.

We cant have that now - Darren  put me down for a 1/35 M4A2 Tarawa Sherman by Dragon also. Anthony I am not a "Die Hard Armor " builder but I have been wanting to build this kit for some time..

After the "bad things happen to models in the heat" discussion I spent a few hours going through my stash. Everything looks OK (phew!) and I moved them into our storage unit - a nice, indoor a/c space.

I also got some build time over the holiday to work on the P34. I got about 30 parts prepped and painted (4 colors). Only two more colors to go, hopefully this week, then I can start assembling the rear suspension!

I never realized this kit was the first 1/20 Tamiya put out. It started their line of 1/20 F1 cars. It was also motorized at some point and has the separately molded AA battery lid in the bottom of the chassis. This will have to be mounted, filled, smoothed, etc. Sounds like a natural break point for this GB!

Well I'm building an ARH Tiger chopper for the Helicopter GB, a 1/48 Crusader (tank) and I'm trying to finish off my F4U-5N for the Corsair GB.

Just the fact that putting "Disco Stud" on your jacket was considered cool makes me laugh...and I'm a 70's and 80's child!

 I was considering a Sherman, but the kit in the stash is the Dragon M4 ETO version. I opted for the F4F-4, next best thing to a tank.

How broadly are you applying the war in the pacific?

I have an Airfix Gruman Duck (thanks Bondo how did you know I was looking for one?) and some decals for a US Coast Guard aircraft based in California. Its technically the pacific and it would have been looking for Japanese subs but its not the first thing most think of when they hear war in the pacific. If that will work I'll build the duck.
