The Jake is looking excellent Richie and I know what you mean about some models being a royal pain in butt to paint around the details.

Happy New Year ToastToastToast right back at you.

Mike, the canopy took a few hours spread out over a couple days, just had to be patient and not rush it.

Richie- Looking VERY good my friend!  If it wasn't for those paint bottles in the photo, I would swear that was 1/48.  Excellent stuff!

Charles- Thank you very much, I'll be looking forward to seeing that 262 in a bit! Wink

All,

Just a quick note to let you know that I'm taking the family down the coast to the beach for a week, so I'll be out of contact for the duration.

If there are any new starters or completed in that time I'll catch them up when I get home Cool.

Cheers

Hey Darson,  The thermometer is reading 18 degrees F outside, We are expecting 8" of new snow, the winds are gusting, and your taking the family to the beach? That aint right, just because you live on the other side of the planet doesn't mean you have to flaunt it.... Have a great time and enjoy the weather.

Folks living in the southern hemisphere are a wee bit closer to the sun this time of year than we are.  We're fishing this time of year up here in the Northern Temperate Zone too, but it's on the ice. Hope your having a wonderful New Year and enjoying the fun and the sun! Not complaining, The ice is nice too.

 Happy New Year

Well this part of the northern hemisphere is just too nice. I am not sure if its spring or winter. It is sunny and gorgeous out, and the afternoon high was 69*. T-shirt and shorts weather while I was taking down the Christmas lights and chopping up the tree for the recycle bin. I'm sure todays sunset will be as nice as yesterday's...

Yesterday I pulled out the F6F and finished up the cockpit area. I made a lens for the gunsight from some old acetate sheet left over from some tank kit, and tehn I attched teh armored glass that sits between the windscreen and the gunsight. I also attached the pitot tube and landing gear doors so the lower surface is ready for painting. All I need to do now to the uppers is touch up the head rest, attach the antenna mast, then mask and attach the canopy. Here are a couple close ups of the gunsight and the armored glass.

Hey stikpusher, that's a great idea using the acetate for gunsights, I always seem to get them frosted over or paint on them.  Looks like your getting close to laying some paint on the Bearcat. Looking forward to seeing updates on the F6F.

Have a great trip, Darren (and don't forget to put me on the roster when you get back! Stick out tongue ).

Very nice work on the office, stik! Yes  Sounds like you're just about ready to get some paint on her.

Man, I really need to get crackin' on my Zeke (and I think tonight's the night).

Stik, when I first looked at your pics of the pit, I thought that armour glass was the gun sight!

Sort of gun sight for the short sighted amongst us!

Looking really good.

Oh, and it is cold and sunny here, definitely not shorts & T shirt weather.Sad

I wish.

Winter hit here in the Bay Area too. Today it's going to be in the low 60's and next week it might even rain!

I got my P-40 finished on New Years Eve. I'm planning on building a photo booth to take the final pictures but haven't made it to the hardware store yet - too busy OD'ing on football the last few days and going to another game today! I should be able to make it one night this week and have something posted.

Finally, I've got around to taking pics of the Ki-44.

This is the Hasegawa 1/72 kit, and despite it's age it's not a bad little build......

I've also started on the Hase 1/48 Raiden this afternoon, with the wings glued to together and the pit going together nicely.

I'll post some pics of progress later in the week.

No update pics to post today, ButI did get a base coat of flat white on the lowers and teh canopy masked up. I am gonna do a coat of satin white over the flat white to make it really look white. I prefer that texture for the finish. Once I get the upper blues on more pics will be posted.

KJ200,

Nice job.  Always nice to see the work of a fellow divine scale builder.

Darson,

Please take the Houston off the build schedule.  I'm just not in a ship building mood, will let you know what I'm gonna build.

Hi all,

First a very good 2010 to all of you, let it be a good building year!

Tonight again time for an update on my 1:700 IJN wharf. The Akagi has to wait untill some other models are finished. Otherwise it is goint to look like work...

The I-400 dio is allmost finished. Today I made the waterfront and placed the buildings.

For the building I found a guy who lives in Japan for 20 years. He had a few pics of Kobe harbour in the late '30s what he send me. The color of the buildings has not changed since then. I place the diorama on a piece of the harbour what is now a museum part with trendy bars and restaurants. In 1945 it was the harbour where subs and other small ships left for war. The big ones where mostly in Hiroshima and Kure (as my new Japanese friend told me...)

In the dio there will be 2 small tugboats, one pushing the back of the sub to the shore.

The other is bringing a floating harbour to the front of the sub.

now I only have to finish all... put water in.. paint the crane...

Cheers for now!

Paul

Hey duiker, Looking pretty cool. I like the layout of your dio with action occuring on both sides of the frame. IMO,Well balanced. I really dig the reference material you mention. That's cool in Mobi's bookYes. Looking forward to seeing updates, especially the water area's.

Hey KJ, very nice work on the  -44. If you hadn't mentioned it, I'd swear it was at least 1/48. Great looking build! Yes

Paul, I really like the way you've layed out your dio. Looks busy without being overcrowded. Since I can't do a dio to save my life, I'll be watching your project with a keen eye. Keep us posted!
