Richie It was a conversion I bought requiring two Monogram kits.  Here is an old picture and one of just the center wing with a 48th Me109 for scale.  You're right it is huge 28" span

Thanks Jason!!! When you get around to building yours just be weary of the gaps under the wings at the aft join line. Most of all just take your time and you will be rewarded, as with most kits lol. Other than that it's really not a bad kit at all, could stand to be modernised though. Hope yours doesn't have the brittleness mine has, of course mine has been around a bit in the 20+ years i've had it though.

thanks Mucker!!!!Make a Toast [#toast]

I made a few mods to my cowling this afternoon. I did not like the blank way the chin scoops ended, so I scratch built a couple ducts from sheet plastic for the side intakes and some screen across the center intake based on some walkaround pics on cybermodeler. I'll get some before and after pics posted once I get the mods painted.

hey Gents,

I will be gone the rest of this month till after New Years due to my fathers passing. He passed away in his sleep from conditions caused by his cancer. I am rushing to get tickets home. Unfortonatly all my modeling supplies and kits will be left here in Japan and I will not be able to resume until early January.

My 1/48 Kikka was coming along... had the basic colors applied(need a few touch ups), waiting on the yellow leading edge stripes, then future for deacals. I hope to have this finished before the group build ends.

Sheesh Karl.. Tamiya must love you for all of their tape you use! Laugh [(-D]  Excellent work my friend. Thumbs Up [tup]

OK, Tamiya Corsair tips!

First, in the cockpit (I built mine OOB) I took a piece of Tamiya tape and fashioned a map case out of it.  A little time spent detail painting the office yields a very nice finished product.

On the tailwheel, the triangular blob on it's backside is actually a wire loop to tie down the AC on the deck.  I ground it off on mine, and replaced it with some wire.

On the main gear, I added brake lines, tie downs at the bottom of the gear leg, springs, and anti-rotation cables from stretched sprue.

The back of the cowl flaps are devoid af any detail, so I cut some tiny triangular pieces of sheet stock, drilled a little hole in them, and added a cable to open/close the flaps.  Also scribed in the details between the flaps.

Another big thing when modelling the kit with the wings extended, is NOT to follow the directions on assembly.  I learned this trick from Drew H.  Instead, assemble the inner wing stubs first.  Then, assemble the wing rib/gear bay side with the spar and firmly glue it to the wing stub.  Next, take little squares of sheet stock and glue them to the inner surface of the wing halves- with some sticking out approx. 1mm.  This will support the outer wing halves when attched and keep them aligned with the inner halves.  Next, glue the top outer wing half to the inner and to the spar, making sure to keep the top wing halves even.  Then install the bottom wing half.  This aligns the wing halves top and bottominner to outer, and any errors are on the leading edge where it is much easier to fix.  Sounds a bit complicated, but unfortunately I do not have any photos of how to do it.  Hope my description makes sense!

took me forever to find this....i was looking at the inside of the cowl and see what you mean...my resin cockpit is coming along nicely...waiting for a book i bought to get some better pictures for painting.....once again thanks for the tips...

Well I got some color on the Jake at last. Going to have to clean up the aft fuse bottom. I was waving the AB back and forth and a bit sloshed out and ran down to the tip and PPPPPPPTTT SPLAT!!!!!! Not bad news just a bit frustrating. Even out ok actually, just ran down to the lower extremeties. Will clean it up and respray the area. Luckily I'm using acrylics. Here's a couple pics.

Finally got my entry done over the weekend. It is Dragons M16 Multi-Gun Carriage. This vehicle belonged to the 209th AAA Auto-Weapons Btl.based on Luzon in the Phillipines,1945.Assembly presented some problems,as I had only built one half-track before, but I got thru it to complete my campaign entry. It is OOB painted with Poly-Scale olive drab, washed with enamels, and weathered with Mig Pigments.I also attempted a light application of textured mud, mixed with plaster,Mig Pigments,Resin, and clear gloss. Thanks for looking, and thanks for running a great campaign, Darson

Ok I've updated page 1 and it was a little more of a challenge than I thought, it's going to take me a little while to get used to this new format.

Have been at the AB again and touched up some of my sloppy AB handling booboos and created a couple more @^!@$!^@#*#!!!! Tried the highlighting technique and think it came out alright. Might have to tone it down just a ____ hair, what do you guys think? Comments and critiques welcomed.

LOL had a few last night and posted it in the FAA GB by mistake. OOPSIES!!Embarrassed Anyways here's a few more pics.

LOL now it's in the right GB.

Thanks Mucker!!! This build is really giving me some AB practice so I am not going to complain much about all I have done wrong and the close-up crappy finish. I am having fun with it and ain't out to build a contest winner,  just want to build something. Isn't that what most models are? A constant learning curve to improve on the next one.
