Frank lovely work on the prop that masking work is really nice, how did you get the spacing so exact?

Stu that Devastator looks awesome just how big is that thing going to be when it's finished, its 32nd scale isn't it?

Mick nice job and talk about quick work, I've marked you as complete on Page 1.

Cheers

Thanks Darren!  On the prop blades, I measured how far down the blade to begin, then placed a strip of Tamiya tape there.  Then put a spacer the width of the red warning stripe next to that, then another piece of tape the width of the stripe.  Then, another piece of tape.  Remove the two pieces where the red should go, and voila!  Perfect spacing. Big Smile [:D]

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Now onto finishing of my nearly complete 1/32 Hasegawa Komet for the Endgame GB.

Was going to decal it tonight, but the decals are yellowed. Going to throw them in a baggie and leave them in the sun for a day or 2. Stupid vintage kits :) Bought this on ebay 5 years ago and it was about 15 or so years old at that time.

Anyways, thanks again for letting me play :)

Well got the blue and grey down...now time to put his beast together. Still not happy with the seam at the cowling ring but I think i can tone it down a bit with weathering. The headrest and liferaft platform is just placed down..I need to fit it better and glue down...looks like it might get in the way of the rear canopy.

Now time to decal and weather. I hope its smooth sailing from here.

Carlos the Buffalo is looking GREAT!!!!!! Very nice paintwork!!!!!!! Looking forward to more pics!!!!

Deeve, it actually will take longer than a couple days, trust me. More like 2 weeks. Just let them sit and check as you go till they are at an acceptible level for you. The yellow NEVER actually dissappears but reaches a point that you can work a lil modelling magic.Wink [;)]

Very Big!  The Avenger was a big plane to begin with in any scale.  This one will definitely have its wings folded.  I'll try and put up some pics comparing the 1/48 AM Avenger to the 1/32 Trumpeter.

I also paid the price for not doing my research.  I loaded a torpedo in the bombay (All my previous Avengers had bombs) and the decal scheme I'm doing is for the Yamato attack.  Turns out that the Avengers used in the attack on the Yamato were all armed with AP bombs.  Oops.  No one tell the rivet counters!Whistling [:-^]

Golly I was looking all over for a 1/32 Devastator!  Man  bummer!  Wanted to chime in on the Avenger and the Yamoto attack. This was a planned attack that actually worked  as it was suppossed too.  I am thinking they actually did carry torpedos cuz something sure did! What else would it have been?

Hell divers carried the AP Bombs dropped at a high altitude  while Avengers concentrated torpedo attacks on one side of the ship  concentrating on the bow and stern where the armor was the thinnest. This was to enduce the ship to capsize which it did as planned. WoW.

The Fighters straffed the decks to suppress anti-air fire all like clock work. The Massive mushroom explosin of the Yamoto was caused when the 18 inch ammo dropped  when the ship capisized which tore the giant apart!  Think it ranks very high on Sea disasters with the most loss of life.

Long story short!. I'd say your safe with a torpedo!

Smooth looking Buffalow too!

Looking good, Carlos!

I've rounding third and heading home...I have to paint the wing tip lights and the gun barrels are on order. Other than that, I think this nice Arii kit is done!

EDIT: Wing tip lamps have been painted. Now I just need some gun barrells.

Based on my snails pace of building, I think the next kit will be a 1/48 Hasegawa A6M3 that I'm building as a crossover with the Guadalcanal GB.

Would any of you have any pictures of a Zero from Guadalcanal? I'm pretty sure they were the green camo scheme, but I'd like to be certain.

Mucker, I found one pic from my Zero In Action book HTHThumbs Up [tup] From some of the profiles, at that point in the war the green was hastily applied so had many varying shades of bleed through from the gray underneath.

Excellent work Charles, love that maw!  Those are my favorite Hellcat markings, keep the pics coming- you're almost there!

I patterened my A6M3 Model 22 after the ones flying with the 251st Kokutai over the Solomon Islands in 1943.  Here's a look at Nishizawa's AC from there...

HTH! Big Smile [:D]

I did a little more on my Zero tonight, adding the engine, cowl machine guns, cowl, and tires/wheels.  The landing gear is in place, but not yet glued.  I also removed the masks from the canopy and temporarily attached them.  Also stuck the prop on for the photo.  Almost there! Big Smile [:D]

Looking real nice there Frank.....tell you one thing the gear looks strange without the doors....almost like a girl with skinny legs.....

Charles....you should try my tecnique from my Rufe for your zero....I think it will get the effect from Franks pic to a tee..and would make sense since most of the green in was field applied and not to high a quality paint either so it would naturally wear down.

My Buffalo....well decaled and started with some silver pencilchipping....so far so good.

Carlos: great idea, my friend. I need to go back and study your Rufe.

The Buffalo is coming along nicely. You are really mastering the fine art of chipping.

Hopefully I'll be getting a new tip for my airbrush which I dropped on the floor soon.  Then I can start spraying the Kingfisher.

Thanks fellas!  Was hoping to finish it today, but had a minor setback.  While positioning the gunsight, it shot out of the tweezers and behind the seat into the rear of the fuselage.  I had already applied CA glue to it, so wherever it landed- the glue held it fast.  Tried to shake it looks, but didn't want to wreck the model trying to dislodge the gunsight.  So, found a spare from a Tamiya Zero and painted it up today.  Need to detail it, weather it, and then can install it.  Besides the canopy bits, it was the last piece to install.  Figures, doesn't it? Sigh [sigh]

Bummer, Frank. Let me know if you need any more spares...I have several built and unbuilt Zero kits. Your build has inspired my A6M3. If I can paint it half as nice as yours I'll be a happy camper.

Frank, I can just imagine that happening. Hate when that happens!!!! Glad you had a spare though!!

Had some bench time on the Jake. Got the headrest and ADF anttenae glued in and started masking the canopy. I had originally planned to use a vac-form canopy on this build but it doesn't fit worth a flip so am going to use the kit supplied piece. Noticed in pics the kit canopy has a set of frames in the wrong bay. However the kit canopy fits decently so just gonna make it look as good as I can and get this thing going again. Got engine and cowl on as well. Will post pics when I get the canopy sitcheyated.

Hello Everyone,

Well I have been slogging thru my Dragon M-16 kit,it hasn't been the easiest build, and I am really not feeling it for this one,but I am making some progress and things are coming together slowly.I have this week off,so I should be able to get some painting done. There has been some real nice builds going on here, and I'm happy to finally post something.
