Hey simpilot...you are supposed to let the 'set' and decals dry before using the 'sol'?...whoops...i have never let it dry and it does wrinkle up and then settles down...i guess i have been lucky...i am glad to know that now...

got some work done on the wheel wells...i am pretty happy with the plumbing...need to get some wiring done in the pit and then get some paint down...heres what i got done...

thanks guys...i am having fun over here...got some more stuff done...

test fitting the cockpit...the seat hits stuff on both sides...i will have to figure that one out...

got some work done on the side consoles...

drilled out the gear door actuators and put in some wire...have to figure out later how to attach to the doors...

drilled out the engine for the wiring...now i need to do the center wiring harness..i think i have a good idea where to drill there...

did some plumbing in the fire wall...

found this great wedge plastic for the actuators of the cowl flaps...

then ran some wire in there...perfect...

need to get some paint down as soon as i can figure out how to make the seat fit...we shall see...

Put down the NMF on my Jack....looked good......hit it with the sealer and now I have spots in my NMF what the  &^$%!!!!

I used the sealer from the rattle can...but its MM metalizer non buffing sealer...HELP!!  should I strip down to the plastic or can I just hit it again with the aluminum and then sealer again..i dont want too many coats either...i still have to add the green and then dull cote....

Carlos, is the NMF going to be the final finish or is it just the undercoat? You say you still have to add the green. If the green is going to be the overall color than the spots I wouldn't think would matter much. Unless LARGE areas are going to be exposed during the weathering process, then we might have a problem. Could always say it's corrosion starting.Propeller Maybe a light coat of silver to tone it down and reseal? Wish i could help more. Hope you don't have to strip.

Dave, fantastic work on the Corsair.

Ritchie, I've had Hase decals do that to me before now.

I've just plugged away with the softening and setting solutions until one us gave up!

Carlos, I'm sure the spots won't be visible under the top camo, and will add some variation to the chipping.

Not made a lot of progress this week, just painted the rear cockpit deck, oil washed and flatted ready to allow the canopy to be attached.

This is a truly awesome pit OOB.

I used the Eduard mask for the cockpit armour glass.

The belts are Eduard again, from their IJN PE set.

As you can see from the pics, I also attached the forward engine cowling.

The canopy is now attached, so next step will be primer.

Not sure I'd go with Laquer thinner, may lift or soften the paint. Might try lgithly wet sanding with 1200 or higher paper.

What a beaut, Karl! THe Jack is coming along nicely.

Carlos, bummer about the spots...I'm not a big fan of rattle cans, simply becuase I can't the see the consistency of what's inside. Hope your rub down works...

Stikpusher, Nice work on the white, the leading edge seam of the wing looks pretty good too. Looking forward to the HellCat Blues, the paint that is.

Mobious

Hellcat Blues applied... unfortunately there was a mishap... the tail antenna mast was damaged sometime before beginning to paint, the first burst of Intermediate Blue in the area sent it flying into never never land of my garage paint area. Otherwise things went fairly decent considering the moderate humidity while I was airbrushing.

and since I have seen some Grummans with the Sea Blue wrapped around the leading edge of the wings, I decided to give it a try here.

Once I get a new tail antenna mast scratchbuilt and installed I will do touch ups and get her ready for decals.

Hey Stikpusher, Nice work with the blues. Looking good, specially like how you've kept the white nice an clean. I'd had several fingerprints in that by now, and a ton of overspray. Looking forward to seeing updates on the F6F.

Stik, nice work on the F6.

Those little aerial masts are just looking for an excuse to go AWOL!

Carlos, I'd definitely avoid the lacquer thinner too, as it may well damage the surface of the plastic.

I'd go with a light sanding instead.

Put the canopy on my Raiden on Sunday, and there is a pronounced step either side of the front of the front of the canopy. Not sure why, as the rest fits perftectly.

Still nothing a little Mr Surfacer won't sort out.

The I-400 diorama is finished!

But first this, a few weeks ago our leader Darson did send pictures about his new modelling hobby, made on the beach. He did it scale 1:1. I did the same, 1:35...

and

Probebly not seen during WW2 in the Pacific, but you never know..Cool

OK, now the real thing, the I-400 diorama is finished!

First there was just  a waterfront,  crane and a sub. I did put a feul storage tank to it, and some `rubbish` what could represent some vessels or storage stuff. The water is done with Vallejo water effects. Hard to get in the correct form, but luckily I live near a harbour, so I know that water can go everywhere in a closed cirquit like an harbour.

The last things I added were the people. They are Eduard 1:700 Japanese navy figures. To place 4 men, 3 tried to escape. Blue clothing on a blue carpet... Not funny.. 2 never found... At last I made some "mud" at the places where I spilled some glue... A guy gotta do something...

I hope you all like my work, I'm enjoying yours!

Cheers,

Paul

Well striping the finish off Jack was easier than I thought.....regular alcohol did the trick....rubbing alcohol that isStick out tongue...got the elves to really get into into it!! I think they all came out wasted from the fumes....Dead

The sealer came off pretty easily with some a paper towel and qtips for hard to reach places....granted it took off more than just the finish but at least the spots are gone. The one thing I did notice as i was removing the sealer is that the areas with the sealer were more dull than the cleaned areas,......Charles you are right...no more rattle cans...I rather know whats going on my bird. After another coat of alum i am going to seal with a gloss clear coat instead of the MM sealer hopefully it wont dull the alumin shine....need it for decaling anyway.

Now thats some real weathered NMF!!!

take 2 steps back to move 1 forward..oh well...

Hey I like that beat up NMF look! Your extra effort will pay off in the end. ON a side note, I always thought the Jack was a combination of the P-47 and the FW-190, the latter design obviously coming from the GErmans, with the size and armament closer to a Thunderbolt.

stikpusher..the cat is looking great!...cant wait to see more....

got some more stuff done myself...the consoles are done and ready to go...

i think the IP is looking great...one little scratch to fix on the bottom of the small piece...

did a black primer in the hopes of adding some depth without using the wash...will probably still use it anyways..

going to do this scheme...

totally random project...threw a flat coat on this sucker...blew it on the wash and caused a ton of staining to the paint job...actually like how it ended up...

Upper wing-to-fuselage join? I really didn't see anything that looked too bad, maybe different "in person"? And as far as the wash issues go, it's a P-40, it's supposed to look dirty! :) I actually like the look of it. Did you leave your wash on too long? Problems removing the excess? Thumbs up from my point of view!
