Quick progress Wingy. Yes

On my end, not much to report.  Fuselage and wings are assembled.  Next is the engine and cowling.

Due to the fuselage warp, I have some gnarly gaps at the wing joints.

Nothing that can't be fixed with some styrene and putty.  However, this will have to wait till next week as I leave for holiday travel tomorrow.

Wishing all a great holiday! Toast

Boyd, crazy plans?  Moi?

Arki, those are some serious gaps.  How is the dihedral?  If it is kind of flat you may be able to get rid of some of that pulling some tape taught from wingtip to wingtip before you glue and fill.

Did you just say dihedral? Things are getting pretty smart around this GB, fellas! Geeked

I'm cranking out a Pz IV for 1,000 Roadwheels - then I think this Type 90 is next on the list. Pretty fired up to do that paintscheme. Alien

I'm just finishing up my Puma for the Achtraden GB, and then I'll be able to start on my FW-190 for this build.

I’ve gotten to the point of getting the base coats down.  Of course as soon as I did that I found a few things that I needed to chisel off to be replaced by PE later.  Next will be the hairspray and white.  I just need to remember to restrain myself and not over do the peeling since it is so cool when it starts to happens it’s hard to stop.

I made reflectors with a bulb for the headlights, wired them and Vacuformed new lens.  The 2 on the left are the vacs and one will be shot out.   Scale Hardware brass nuts are glued to punched disks for washers on the extra tracks and the cables ends were wrapped with fine wire.

wing nut- Gotta love the extra detailing!!Bow Down

Alrighty then, here's what I've been working on the past few days. It's taken some time, but the tracks and lower hull are finished up and weathered. The tracks were painted Tamyia Flat Earth, then went on a burnt umber wash, a rust wash, a black wash, and then another burnt umber wash. With the washes done, I then drybrushed the tracks with two shades of darkened steel......and that's the finished product.

As for the lower hull, a series of four washes also went on. Those included a grime wash, a burnt umber/burnt sienna, another grime, and finally a burnt umber.

I was also able to start work on the turret, a bit of work here and there. Already sanded the barrel, so might be able to get that on today.

All comment, questions, and suggestions welcome!

Mikael - those tracks look great...and the added rolled-steel texture is looking good. Can't quite tell what the "depth" is - maybe sand it down a bit more?

I will join with the Tamiya Pz IV D that I could not even start for the 1,000 GB :(

I will build it with my previous plan of OOB with some AM stuff, gray scheme, then winter-washed for some winter 41 Eastern front action. I will try my hand at my first ever base too.

Will post pics next week when I come back from vacation

Ok, main tank is complete, might give it another light wash, plus then weather and mudify it, working on base, have completed first base of snow and mud, needs more, plus some branchs/shrubs and painting that big rock in the back ground.

I attempted a look similar to this tiger, painting with a 00 brush to simulate a mop but I think I came off a little heavy handed, I hope a light wash and weathering will help that.

Konigwolf - looks good! I see what you mean about being a little heavy-handed (maybe next time thin the paint some more?). I think some washes and the subsequent weathering will bring it back to the level you want though. Yes

JMart! Sorry that 1,000 Roadwheels didn't work out for you, but I'm just as glad to see you crank out that Panzer IV here. Let's see it!

Went back to add people to the list on the first page, notably Bushi, Luzn It, and Mobious (no it's not too late to join, fellas).

Realize that I forgot to add SMJ's Long Tom onto the HST. I'll get to it tomorrow. That, and I need to finish the frickin' frackin' badges. That's tomorrow's project.

Any work get done over the long weekend?

Any work get done over the long weekend?

A bit here and there, decided to leave off the spare fuel cans. I also added new weld seams to the turret, and I finished scratching eleven grab handles for the turret(now I just have to attach them all.) Will try to get an update posted tommorrow.

Nope, just back from holiday travel.  Wingy, dihedral is canted correctly as is, so I can't use that trick to close the gap.  Some styrene and putty will fix it no problem.  Nice detailing on your target.

Konig that looks really nice.

Arki I have faith in you that it will turn out just fine.

Dupes, as you can see below... you better get that badge readyWink

I am managing to get bench time in between all the partying, food and drink.  Here it is painted , hair sprayed and peeled.  MIG pigments all the has been done so far.  I will seal all that and get some pin washes in ans some dry brushing.

Okay, here's that update I said I'd get up today. The build is starting to near completion, the hull is essentially done (just have to finish painting a shovel and saw.) As for the turret, it has taken some work to improve. I put in new weld seams with Testor's contour putty, using the end of a straw for that convex-curved welding marks.

After the welding, I decided to scratch new grab handles. For that I used a spool of wire I found in my basement. Cleaned it with alcohol(their's an oil on the spool to prevent corosion but also prevents paint from sticking well,) after cleaning I cut pieces to length(with regards to the kit supplied parts) and bent with pliers. To adhere the handles, I simply put a little putty where the handles would be and stuck them in(creating a realistic weld effect, adding a bit of crazy glue to make sure they don't move when the putty dries.) Now I just have to add some cast texture to the hull(probably not as much as I did on the hull.)

Wingy - you are FLYING! Aaaaaah! You're right, I need to finish the badges stat! Ick!

Mikael - also very cool. Like what you're doing with this one. Yes

As for the markings on Wingy's T-34, the top part says "Of Stalingrad". I can't make out the bottom stuff well enough to provide any meaningful translation. Maybe later!

OK dupes… you best get crackin’ on that badge because I need one.

Here is my T-34/72 1941 w/cast turret.   The kit is not without its problems but ended up it does end up going together pretty well.  It has the Voyager detail set added as well as Friul tracks.  This is the heaviest mud application I’ve done to date.  It is done with Mig pigments and the technique described on his DVD.  It will eventually be on a base.  But I am going to need a lot more pigments.
