For RD IV, how about a nightfighter theme?

Then you could choose from the following, to name but a few:

Do217

Ju88

Me110

Me410

Me109

Fw190

Ta154

Me262

A Nachtjagd RD IV.

Frank - Mark me down with a 1/48 Tamiya Fw-190D-9. No need for DML torture this time around. Stick out tongue

I would love to get in on this build if possible. I have the Tamiya FW-190A-3 in 1/48. This sounds like a blast. Look fowrward to seeing and posting some pics.

SupressionFire- No problem at all, glad to see some differently marked AC here!

dupes- Sorry my friend, can't help you with those 1/72 decals.  Hopefully someone else here can though!

bondo- Excellent!  I have seen that profile before, but never a build of it.  Looking forward to seeing it!  BTW, what kit/scale are you planning?

Travis- By all means, welcome aboard!

I believe I have everyone updated on page 1.  If you see anything amiss, by all means- holler!

Some great ideas from you guys for the next installment, looks like we have all sorts of subjects we can do.  Keep 'em coming!

Daywalker,

When I read about this GB I didn't recall joining, yet seeing my name on the list it felt like a honor to be in on another one of your highly successful group builds. I consider you and many other modelers here some of the most skilled I have had the pleasure to know!Bow Down

I ordered the 1/48 scale Edward FW-190 F-8 and a set of suitable decals ASAP, I hope my post war Canadian Butcher bird can soak up a bit of the talent seen on your builds.YesCool

Thanks again! When the mail arrives I will get a start on it. October is a ways off yet I can only dedicate rainy days to building.Storm

Cheers, JasonToast

Nice choice, Spike...I have the same kit and will be watching your progress closely to pick up some pointers.

I'll progably start with my ProModeller 109G-2 and give the Eduard kit a whirl if I have time.

Mucker  ; I was a fan forever but lost it back in the late 90's.I watch but get too worked up!!

Here s my build subject in the 1/24 Trump D-9 .So far I am in primer -superdetailed engine , wheel bays ,cockpit , all will be wired, plumbed. Verlinden resin kit , Eduard  P/E  : instrument/bezel kit , Bf 109 placards , seatbelts , archer cast weld beads for the supercharger scoop etc. Waldron ammo counters, rudder pedals. Corrections to the kit so far include removal of curved hinges on engine panels , re-arrangement in wheel bays , cannon barrel substitution , removal of round bolt heads on engine replaced with Grandt line, kit exhaust are very nice -with a lot of work into them!.. There prolly more but I am into the bobber right now. This is my large scale airplane entry in our 40th show (fingers crossed for a great finish)  -Oct date- so I'm in all the way !! I will be back on this soon though, I want to get to the paint.......................blk12.jpg picture by krow113

Hi Julez72,

I built that one when I was a teenager, in my pre-airbrush days, and considered it the best kit I'd ever built for quite a while. The scheme -- not sure, but I have a three-view AB illustration done back in the 80s that I can scan for you, and there'll be some unit data too. I always thought it was a real looker!

By the by, guys, if we're doing any variant of the 190, not just those in the last year of the war, it turns out I have around 20 in my stash, in three scales, so I sure have plenty to tackle. It's mostly dependant on me building a new display case before very much longer, I've already overflowed from the last one...

Cheers, M/TB379

Cheers Jules...

Hi again,

I've photographed it -- bad news is it's not the same plane, it's Red 19, but the same A-8 and carrying a ground attack loadout. The markings are obvioulsy different but it's a good look at the strike version. I'll try to post it tonight.

The artwork was printed at almost exactly 1:32nd scale, which makes me kinda hanker to do one of the Hasegawas -- I'm wondering if I can get away with it on my storage spave... I have an F-8 in the Revell reissue from a few years ago that would probably build very nicely...

Considering this old Airfix box art, I think it's safe to say that this is kind of a made up scheme.  SG 2 was using red rudders late in the war but not with a red band around the cowl.  Luftflotte 4 directed that a yellow band be applied to the cowl of all their aircraft in the closing months of the war, this is probably what they were shooting for.

Take a look at this sheet from EagleCals, "Yellow 2" on the top is probably what that box art was based on.
