Nice start with the PE Guy. Is it just me or do the side panels look like they have the old trunk (boot?) spatter paint on them? Hmm

Unfortunately Sk3tch, that's how we learn. Angry  Clean out that airbrush real good after metallics.

Richie - Hey, thanks for sharing that little fact about the cooling fan. I thought the same thing you did. What is the name of the video you have?

I'm getting close to finishing up my Messerschmitt for the BoB group build so I should be starting on my 190 here pretty soon. I can't wait to get started! Beer

sk3tch- Yes, that does look like the older Hasegawa boxing.  I have never built that one, but the newer boxings are quite nice indeed.  Also, like Richie stated, after spraying metallics I ALWAYS tear down the 'brush and clean it well.  I even have a separate paint cup exclusively for metallics.

SF- Yep, looks to be a good one already!

I cleaned up all of the cockpit bits last night, and shot a coat of RLM 66 on everything.  Decided to use the kit parts mostly, substituting a True Details resin seat with belts.  Also ordered a pair of Aires wheels to replace the undersized kit tires.

Jeremy, the DVD is simply called 'Focke-Wolfe 190' Nazi germany's infamous 'Butcher Bird'. There is a site on the back of the case.

 www.rajon.com.au

I got it here in Oz at a music and dvd store in one of the malls for $10. Has interviews of pilots and one of them is Galland himself. HTHToast

Jeremy, your right about the side consols. There is a spattery look to them. I presume thats the look that Eduard wanted? Beats me, but it does look ok,

Progress of sorts. Washed the parts sprues in TSP and dish washing soap. Here is a picture showing the unused ordinance on the green side. Included with this to the spares box are extra tires without tread and the ordinance on the wheel bay sprue frame.

Great start everyone and looking forward to tackling Edwards jem of a kit!Toast

Guy whats with that foreign refreshmant on the work bench? I though all you Brits only allowed a good cuppa on the model workbench? Great job on the pit. You know you can take a small break in between kits right?:slomo: I am going to be along shortly. I really want to get alot more done on my Curtis P-12 before I crack open another box.

The PCM Ta152H-1 arrived today.  PCM delivers at the speed of light.  Kit has a bag of styrene, a bag of resin (cockpit, wells, and quite few pieces I haven't identified yet), PE for the cockpit doodads, excellent painting directions, and Cartograph decals.  Here is the open box shot.

Also, based on the other posts, the IP looks to be about 90% accurate.

Now I have to decide whether to finish a Tiger I WIP 30% complete or start on this baby.  I am thinking the Cat can wait.

Nomad,

The decal sheet  includes numerals for Green 3, 4, 8, and 9 in both a very dark green and a brighter shade.  Explaining the painting is a bit complicated.  The painting instruction booklet calls for RLM 81 and 83 on the upper surfaces.  A correction sheet says to substitute RLM 82 for 81.  The lower is RLM 76.  The correction sheet also advises the brighter green numerals should be used.  Hope that helps.

SF- Looks like your spares box will be well-stocked for the next Luftwaffe project!

Mo- Thanks for that link, I added it to page one!  Looking forward to taking a looksie there with a good cup of coffee.

xradio81- You got it, list updated!

Clebode- Looks like a sharp kit!  If you are at all interested, Jerry Rutman makes a resin set to address a couple of the shortcomings of that kit.

Can someone translate the RLM #s into standard Tamiya and Testors colors? A chart would really help, bonus points for Krylon spray bomb colors!

Thanks,

Jason

This is the way to go IMHO. These ship immediately, they aren't very expensive and I hear they are quite accurate. I buy their ship model colors two-three at a time. Of course they aren't acrylics. http://www.whiteensignmodels.com/acatalog/WWII_Luftwaffe_Colours.html

Testors makes a jar of each of the colors you need, labeled as such but I hear they aren't very close to the actual color.

I use Tamiya acrylics almost exclusively, but there are a couple of RLM colors I have had trouble mixing myself- 74 and 75 for instance.  For those, I use Gunze paints.  For everything else, there's Mastercard.  LOL, J/K!

If you tell me which RLM colors you are looking for, I can do my best to help with Tamiya color callouts.

Crusher- Great news, can't wait for some pics!

Just ordered these decals for the Dora. I never liked the look of the JG 44 candy cane stripes that the kit came with. The only other option was kind of boring so I picked these out of the huge assortment of choices. Oh my Frank has been in the rum agian Bondo!:1244::dance:

Sure am!  The good Cap'n Bondo handed out double rations this evening, and seeing as how a few of the lads were AWOL, I felt it my duty to consume theirs as well.  So, which scheme are you gonna use?  My vote goes for Yellow 1.
