Small family.... my wife's mother had 11 brothers and sisters. The oldest was born in Italy, the rest in New York.

Sounds like my family.  My Dad had 4 brothers, the oldest two were born in the "Old Country" and immegrated to the US, just after WWII.   My favorite uncle kept the "Family Business" running until he died of natural causes about 10 years ago.  He was a great guy.

And not to be taken lightly. Every one of them had a grandfather that went to public school in their village, during the Mussolini era, and either served in the Regia or left. Following the Italian Armistice, the Germans bombed Aquaviva and killed a bunch of civilians. The fellows on the left are carrying the effigy of the Blessed Mother.

Owl, that B-25 NMF looks great, you said something about Krylon???

yeah, sure did. For the main body of the plane, I used a Krylon rattle can, Matt aluminum. I misted teh first few coats on, then got closer and applied a heavier coat. Be carefull though, spray cans make it easy to puddle paint and hide detail. Because it was so humid, I let the Krylon coat cure for a few more days than I usualy do, then masked off the other metal panels. THe krylon held beautifully and I had no damage or paint peeling. Just make sure to stick the masking tape to something else a few times to remove most of the tackiness.

Excellent, good to see a low tech way to do a NMF come out so well. Geeked  BTW, if the humidity is high (as it often is in the summer) just spray in an A/C controlled, lower humidity indoor room...... just make sure you don't take too deep of breaths.Ick!

Nice looking Destroyer Navi Beer, I'll bet that 110 greenhouse canopy was a fun project in 1/72.

It was. I usually do canopies freehand, but I used tape on this one.

Here are a few shots of my Vietnamese Coastal Junk, being converted to civilian use. The two machine gun stand locations (fore and aft) will be covered by rope coils. I am doing the kit for my wife who is from Vietnam (Nha Trang) and remembers these vessels.

well, I was gonna go with the decals supplied with the kit, but....  Dead

yeah, the decals are useless. I'll have root through my spares box now.....Here's where the B25 sits now, but I've repainted the nose NMF because I can no longer use the eagle nose.

Don Hammerloni, may I humbly present for your review the 1/72 Bf-110:

The build was a "dime store build", in that only Testors square bottles and hardware store spray paint was used. The cockpit was beefed up with some balsa to replicate the sides better. The plane was then weathered with an enamel wash then black and white chalk.(thanks for the tip Hans Toast ). Now back to the Tomcat! As always, comments, good or bad, welcome.

finished the painting on the B25. The humidity made the paint take longer to cure than normal, but that Krylon is actually pretty darn durable. I was able to mask off the other NMF panels with no harm done! Some of the alternate colors are subtle, and hard to catch with the camera.

Base krylon matt aluminum:

Hans, I picked up a couple of Monogram F-100's and want to start one.  I trust it fits in this GB.  I plan to build the Trumpeter F-100C at the same time....

Hi, ya'll!

I finished the Red Baron. It was a blast! I wish the paint turned out better. There's the "Tijuana Taxi" at HL still; maybe I can score one for Christmas. Work has also progressed on the B-36; wings are on, and I'm hoping to get to painting in a couple of weeks. I need to start using the kitchen table. Those planes sitting on top of the B-36 are a Me109, Spitfire, P-51, and F4U....all the same scale.

Luv it....finished mine a few weeks back....brought back memories.....

Thanks Miss VOL!

I tried to look at as many online pics as I could find. One thing I found was the AGM 78 had a brownish nose cone? I found this in several pics. Of course all the references showed a flat black nose cone. Also I attempted to use Polly Scale Acrylic Paints for the color scheme (TAC Tan, Green, Dk Green) but had nothing but problems. I just couldn't find the right ratio of thinner and paint!Bang Head. I ended up using Tamiya Acrylics and they seems to work great and look like the right colors. Anyone had this problem before?

I should have the finished pics of the WW Thud up tonight as it is almost done on the bench!

Hans,

I`m calling this SBD "done". I used beading wire for the antennae but may change that to thread or sprue at a later date. Made it an "in-flight" model due to the fact that I forgot to install the gear before closing up the wings..doh! At least this kit got me out of my scratchbuilding funk...I enjoyed building this kit even though I screwed up alot..lol.

Please put this down as done and I`m gonna flip a coin for the next one...A-37 or F-100....both look like nice kits.
