Zokissma

Heres a sketch of the top up.

The long 'forward slash' type bar at the back was hinged to fold down. The two smaller bars were also hinged on it to fold back onto that bar. The canvas was folded back and forth to stow it. The bar in the middle of the vehicle was threaded through the canvas, and was lifted out of the brackets in the vehicle sides and stowed on top of the rear ones. The canvas was just clipped at the front.

These sites have a few pics that might give you an idea:

Ambitious! Towed guns are like Fritos, aren't they?

I have just about finished my 2cm Flackvierling 38, which was supposed to be the kit I built to feed the fire while I waited for the group build to begin. Then things got a little busy, so I am just getting it done.

Next I am starting the 3.7 cm Flak gun being towed by the British Universal Weapons Carrier.

Hope to post some pictures soon (once I figure out how to post pictures, that is...)

Ok, I did as much building as I'm going to do before I lay down a layer of paint, which I'll TRY (but probably won't) do tonight.
Anyways, I'm having a little trouble with the canvas top of the Demag. I want to construct the top folded down, but I have no good reference showing how the mechanism worked. Heck, even simple pictures showing how many beams were needed to hold the top on would be more than enough.
Anyone have any ideas?

Well, I managed to get a lot more work done last night than I originally thought. I finished most of the Demag body, and the tub. I left some pieces off to make it easier to paint. I will be making the top cover folded down, and the references you guys posted earlier will be very helpful. In the next few day's, I'll probably lay down a basecoat on everything, then it's on to painting wheels...
Also, have to start working on the dio base, as the partially finished models will make it easy to figure out positioning. I'm going to use a Tamiya radio tent plus some other tamiya figs that are from the 88 kit.

Sounds like it's really shaping up, and I'll bet it will be a heck of a diorama.

Looking cool Derek, now where's one with an 88 or Pak 40 for us German builders? Big Smile [:D] Maybe that's the way to go, multiple choice. Hey they all look good, tough choice.

D'oh. I like Larry's and all of Dereks. I do like the idea of having 2004 on there.

I am weathering my SiG33 at the minute. Going to tuck it into a little vignette I think. A dirty great Panther just jumped in the way of me building a towing vehicle.

I'm not saying which is my fav of these threeTongue [:P]

Dday....I think I've seen your site before. Nice work.

Yeah the Krupp is nice for it's vintage. I built the original personnel carrier version when it was first produced in the 70's (showing my age again).

As for the badge, I like it as is, but if you want symmetry, the wheel needs to be positioned centrally in the badge. This will also mean that the barrel and trailing legs will need to be the same length. Another option is to have the gun barrel raised more, then insert a small 'O4" or '2004' vertically in front of the field piece. This will balance out the sit of the gun components.

Nice work so far guys. Enjoying some catch up in the forum posts, and the pics have my fingers getting itchy to start my own.

Hmmm, I used the same font for all the letters .... Maybe it's an illusion based on the space allotted to the letters?

But it was just a suggestion! If anyone wants to make changes and so on, please do!

1. shorten the legs of the gun and move it to the right to show more barrel and dont let the barrel touch the left side of the badge

Good badge, that's what I had was voting for all along (not a pak or 88) :)

Not to be presumptious (where did I read that recently?Big Smile [:D]) but maybe like so....

Its still 90% Larry's, but I reckon somebody smarter than me could trick it up a bit more still.

Edit: The gun's still off-center or something, isn't it......

See my webpage for some 1st impressions & etc. The only thing I didn't note is that the tires are very, very post-war, in fact even post-Korean War.
Also see caveats about being under construction (the web page).
I'll have an update in about a week, as I've really started spreading some glue recently.

The M4 is (was) available from either Mission Models or RJ Enterprises.

Larry got the coup -- he got the Mack NO which I really wanted.

PS. I will be starting my 3.7mm Pak 36 this weekend. Using the Tamiya kit with the Krupp Protze but will be using the old (1995) Eduard set for the gun. The Protze will have some extra detail from scratch 'cause there is not much in the new Eduard set that you can't do yourself with patience.

Ahh the krupp protze by Tamiya its a great kit and I made it into my first dio,

Wow, leave for a weekend, and two pages add up.
Well, I didn't get anything done this weekend, except starting the basework for the dio. Got a lot of catching up to play this week.

Couldn't agree more. Love building artillery models. They can be quick and easy - just over a week for my OOB Pak 40 including the little dio - or you can spend months jazzing up an 88 or something with all the aftermarket hoopla. And so much variety - from a 2pdr pop gun through to that monstorous sewer tunnel or whatever it is that you are building! Big Smile [:D]

And all the detail is right out there where it can be seen! Great stuff - and great idea for a build! Might even squeeze in another model between now and July...

Cheers, Andy!

Looks ok -- I don't know if it's official either! I just wanted to put something up for people who had finished the build and wanted to wear their badge proudly. It'd be easy enough to replace with something nicer -- I had thought that it should have a GIF of a howitzer firing .... Tongue [:P]

Scorn, there is tons of time -- til July! And this is open to all. And the subject is a great weekender. Pick up a six pounder, build it over the weekend, paint it desert sand and you are done!

Can you imagine the Panther taking a direct hit from that thing? [:0]

Thanks. Yes, I did it myself -- I put Mirage's zimm set on all by myself. Laugh [(-D]

So the badge thing is only if you finish the kit? Uh oh! [:0]
