Hey Larry,

Dunno if the badge is official or not, but since I managed to finish this build I thought I'd try it on for size.

Fits nice!

Cheers, Andy!

Ok guys, here's the progress so far from the world's slowest builder -- the second pic is with my painted but not weathered Panther (yes, from the group build -- STILL not done Sad [:(]) just to give you an idea of how big this bad boy was. It's the AFV Club kit. It's not a bad kit, but is a bit fiddly here and there. Anyway ....

I'm working on three Russian AT guns in a defensive position along the Dneiper River.

here is a museum photo of the type of gun... ZIS 3

(ref page http://www.thetankmaster.com/english/afv/ZIS-3_01.asp )

and the 45mm guns (2) that I am including with the ZIS 3:

(ref page http://www.thetankmaster.com/ENGLISH/AFV/45mm1937.asp

so when I'm done my guns should look like those above, but will have crews operating them Tongue [:P]

I do not vote for the 88 on the badge, b/c:

1. it will probably be its own build one day
2. it doesnt look like most of the "towed" guns
3. i'm building russian stuff for this gb Clown [:o)]

Great job maffen!

As for the badge how bout the most generic towed gun.. an old cannon (civil war) thats the most generic gun and sidesteps the Axis vs Allied gun debate

Larry:

AFV Club 155mm (with M4 HST).

I think your 8" is AFV Club also ? We should compare notes.

Like the jeep in the small AFV build, an 88mm has to be the most recognizable and infamous gun.

Maffen: Exceptional work as always!

I did the PaK 40 and am doing a 251/1 for a tow vehicle just because I have time left.

Finished!!!!!!!! Shock [:O]Tongue [:P]Wink [;)]Smile [:)]Big Smile [:D]Approve [^]

Larry, i just finished my Demag with nebelwerfer last night. I'm going to put into a dio where it has been abandoned and almost covered in snow

I'm hoping to build one or two other kits before the build's over, possibly that german mini howitzer thingie by Italeri or a pak 40

as far as the badge goes what if you made it the first towed gun-a cannon, thats pretty generic, but I'm with andytee, Dwight should have the final word.

I saw in the Stug (potential) group build that there was sign up for this one until May 20th. Is that correct? If so, I think I would like to join this one. Kinda missed out on the M1 build. Would have loved that one!

Democracy only goes so far. Kind of ironic that we'd be using a democratic process to vote for a Facist piece of equipment.
Dwight, since you so gracefully agreed to make it, I think the decision should be yours. And I guess the 88 is a fairly recognizable piece of artillery, but PLEASE no PAK. Better pieces out there. Heck, even an American piece would be very nice.

Derek/Andy:

Thanks for the vote of confidence, guys. But let's just wait for the other's opinion on this, OK? I am very much biased on the 88 you know because that's what's I am building. However, I agree that we should have a badge that more or less represents all the pieces being modeled here. (Could be a frankenstein of a towed gun...he-he-he).

Andytee: Well, I would like to give others the chance on this. There are a lot of ideas floating aroung here and I think it is better to have a democratic process in this although it might take a lot longer to decide (excluding the possibilities of recounts...he-he-he). It is a group effort afterall.

Anyway, not so many have completed their pieces yet so we still have time. I can wait.
