Vetteman,

Thanks for the offer but your helper eats parts... mine just leaves hair on fresh paint...

Initial construction is finished. It is now 7:02am, saturday morning, 13 hours in. So that leaves me with a day and a half to paint and weather; riiiiight on scheduleBig Smile

The Ehkranami (applique armor) really pops at you on these kv's.

Painted at 25 hours 18min

I painted this free hand with my airbrush, the results weren't as good as i hoped…

When paint dries, I can do landing gear and touch up paint and stuff like that, if I can get all that done today I might be able to apply decals tomorrow!

Looks good Kermit!

I do like tanks a little bit, I just like them for thier looks & off road ability.

Im not as happy with the paint job as I wanted to be, but oh well.

I got the paint, landing gear, and some weathering done today.

Tomorrow - decals, weathering, flat coat.

I also got the prop ready, but that will have to wait until I put the shark mouth on, I want going to do the shark face, but since I have a few errors on the cowling, I'll use that to cover them up. And it looks mean!

29 hours 40min.

Sorry a bit late, but life got in the way.  This is the Hobbyboss 'EasyBuild' 1/72 F4F-3 Grumman Wildcat.  Well, some bits were good, and some were, well, interesting.  Most of the kit was assembled without glue, which shows how well it went together.   The undercarriage was a bit weird, but, maybe it was me, and the glass underside didn't fit properly.  Worse was that although the parts are cut off the sprues, in places they were badly cut, leading to some bits that needed cutting.

The decals were awful!  Taking them out of water before too long made them 'snatch' onto the plastic too quickly, not leaving time for moving them.  Leaving them longer caused them to break up (see the fuselage stars, which are missing bits).  As the decals were looking awful, I did just the stars, and numbers, leaving off the propellor labels (both sets, not bad for such a kit).

Paint was Testor's Light Ghost Grey for the underside.  I'm not sure if it's the right color, but it looked right.  Topside was 'Color of Eagles' (long gone!) Intermediate Blue.

And the beautiful builds are still rolling in!

red baron - Nice P-40! I love the shark mouth/OD combo!

Richard - Sweet little KV-1!  Great job on the paint and weathering!

Centhot - Luv the Wildcat!  Excellent job on the paint and decals, even with the problems you had!

p38jl - Beautiful work on the Ventura!  Nose looks fine to me as does everything else!

razor - how long is the GB going on?  If there's time I'd like to give it another go.  I learned my lesson with the Patton tank and think I can nail one in 48 hrs.  Won't be able to start it until this Friday evening though....

Even though I didn't build this in time I finally finished the M48A2 Patton today.  I was out of town from Wed til today, but started putting the finishing touches on it as soon as I got home.  Rob Gronovious in the Armor forum gave a tip for the tacky tracks:  I used weathering pigments on them and the tacky paint practically absorbed the pigment and, VOILA!  Tackiness gone.  Painted the connectors and teeth in a rusty tone and made an antenna from stretched sprue.  I totally forgot about the fuel cans on the turret, but I'll get them on later.....much later!!Propeller

Cool the goodies keep rollin in man !!

Kermit the KV looks great man ! Love your weathering work especially, and so quickly too YesYes After this build I bet you need auh Beer or two.

Centhot gotta love a nicely done Wildcat, and yours does fit that bill. Well done.

P38jl Wow such a complicated build in such a short time, my hat is off to you. That kit isnt an easy one at all to be sure.

Bifflehead Love your Patton !! Another not so easy build.

Red Baron a very very nice P-40 you have completed here Yes LOve the last picture too, a nice touch. I must say your skills have improved a bunch, keep it up man YesYes

After building my simple Ryan and goin crazy worrying about the deadline of 48 hours, and then seeing the builds you guys have completed still leaves me in awe of your skills and speed that you can build at. Bow Down
