And Russ, nice work there. I've had an airbrush for so long it amazes me what you can accomplish with just an old fashioned spray bomb.

Cheaper X-Acto Blades

I was getting tired of spending $3-4 for 5 blades when I discovered a box of 100 for $28. That's about half price over time. I got mine at Ace Hardware, but you could probably find them at any hardware store.

Cheers,

Russ

Dang Mike, I need to get Hellgate installed and running again, I'd forgotten about all the cool monsters. Been messing around with Gothic III and just ordered Two Worlds. We'll see how it goes.

Cool Warthog, guy on the right looks sorta like Jackson himself!

i sent some of my work to an special effects outfit in California 20 years ago. Never made a dime. One of my pieces was featured in a rock video, but the band never broke out.

An effects guy in Toronto said that when he put the raw video of one of my pieces into his video editing computer, it destroyed the system.......he blamed it on the sculpture.....sure.Alien

Guys,

For those of you interested in the B-52D bomb clips, I added some links to videos which show the entire bomb clip loading process from ship to assembly to aircraft. They're in the Big Belly thread at:

Hi Russ,

Thanks for the tip!  I am always looking for a way to save some money in this hobby!  Those #11 X-Acto blades go fast.  I also found them on Amazon.com for just under $20 and free shipping if your total order is over $25.  http://www.amazon.com/X-Acto-X611-Blades-Knives-Bulk/dp/B00006ICJV

Here' why LHS's are going out of business:

i wanted to get a  Airfix Vicker's Valient so i called three LHS's. The first call put me on an answering machine. The second call, the guy was part time and took down the information and my phone number. The third place, the guy asked me to go online and get the Airfix part number for him so he could look it up.

It will take at least an hour to drive to and from any of those shops, plus the waiting for the kit to show up, and the inevitable 'special item' pricing. I can get one on Ebay.

I don't know how these guys pay the rent.Hmm

Hi Dom,

Well, here in my town, the only local hobby shop that might carry anything close to what I would look for only really carries radio control cars, planes and accessories.  I went there several times looking for model building supplies but they don't stock it and they had to order it.  So for me, ordering on line is the way to go and I am not hurting any local hobby shop since they do not carry anything that I need.

I always find that eBay is a good source for just about anything.  As a matter of fact, sometimes too good a source.  I got a dream Garage sale find the other day, a Stereo system just likie the one I had as a kid (Radio Shack Realistic Clarinette 98), and I need to find some speakers for it.  Ever go through 71 pages of 200 listings each....?  All I am tring to find is a pair of older wood cabinet 2 or 3 way speakers, medium to large size to hook up to it, but I have to sift through all this other junk modern speakers to find anything.  Same with some hobby stuff.  I have one saved search I run every week or so just for the word "Vintage" in the military aircraft section, and I have to go through page upon page of decals, cars, tanks and other stuff that shouldn't even be listed in that category.....  Oh well.  Back to the speaker hunt.

Dom: That's cool about sending your work to the FX company, too bad it fell though. But then again when your stuff is so awesome it's blowing up their editing computers Wink Yeah, I'd love to see more of your stuff if it's not too much trouble to find it.

I buy a kit at the local hobby shop every now and again but most of my buying is there is paint. Course paints not cheap anymore so I helping keep him in business.

Mike: Gothic III is ok, haven't played too much of it so far but so far not that impressed. I love Bethesda's Elder Scrolls games, played everyone since Arena back in '91 or so. Gothic III is kinda like them though not as good IMHO. One thing I really hate is it loads stuff all the friggin' time so the game runs really choppy including during combat. At least I think so, I need to check some more sites to figure out what's going on here.

I have Gothic II but haven't been able to get it to run. Seems it doesn't like Win7. Which I can understand in a way since it was written for Win95/98 but still I've got other games that old that still work so I dunno. I've read a bunch of work-arounds on the net but none have worked so far, I'm going to keep at it.

Gothic 2 had a strange install style. It was designed specifically to run with the 95/98 file structure. I managed to get it to run on XP (After hours of jiggering, changing settings etc) but it was really unstable and wouldnt play the videos without crashing. Doesnt surprise me that it wont run on 7. Might have to run it in a virtual window or something.

They have dosbox. Im waiting for win95box. lol.

Laid some gray for the cockpit interior.

Poor fit of the belly panel.

Winter Camo (White Primer)

First Coat of OD. Put a white paper towel in the background to so you guys can see if theres any colour issues.

Dom: You're one heck of a sculptor. I tried sculpting a shark once and it was so bad I balled it up and threw it away, I can't imagine how hard it is to do a human. Thanks for sharing them with us, fantastic work there!

Mike: The weird problem I'm having with Gothic II and Win7 is on doing a web-search I found instructions from many people on how to get it to work, but what they're telling me doesn't seem to have any effect. Oh well, I'm going to keep working at it.

Nice work on the AH-64, the OD green looks pretty close to me. Looks like it was a job in itself masking off that massive canopy.

Hi Dom,

I totally mis-read your earlier post!  Yeah, with service like that, why bother with them.  They have to earn your business.  If they expect you to go the extra mile to give them business, forget it!  Sorry about that, I re-read your post and now I understand what you are saying.
