Dom, looks like I made a boo boo. I cut slots in the upper fuselage corresponding to the door hinges but in reality, there are none. Must have looked at the pictures wrong, or maybe I just had a bad day. You can see them in the post above, along the lip of the bomb bay. Now I'll have to fill them in Bang Head

Gamera

Hey nice work there Jim!

I would have said beautiful work but I'm not sure there's much beautiful about an A-7. Stick out tongue

What? You are calling the SLUFF ugly? Next you'll tell me the A-10 is not the most beautiful thing you ever saw or such planes as the XF-85 goblin:

Or this hansom devil here:

They are all beautiful.....in their creators eyes in any case....

*******

On my workbench now:

It's all about classic cars now!

Why can't I find the "Any" key on my keyboard?

Ok Jim, ugly maybe but not quite as butt ugly as the A-10 or the Goblin!

I always thought the A-7 was gorgeous.

It may not be as pretty as something like an F-14 or an F-18 but its still beautiful.

Hey Guys,

Here is a preliminary look at the bomb bay doors configured in load position. The detail on the door is only suggestive, not authentic. The only bomb bay detail I'm adding is the catwalk structure along the sides, since that's about all you will be able to see with the plane sitting on the ground

Russ

Russ;

I thought you were new to model building, but do correct me on that.

I can see how you know the subject and are handy with the materials. You didn't start yesterday, right....lol

When i checked my BUFF I realized I have just enough tolerance left over to cut the upper doors as you have described....I saw them, but never translated that info to the kit, lucky for me you pointed that out. You must have cut about 30 or so little ribs to finish the uppermost section of the belly doors? and re-cut the top hinges?

Russ, where did you get the catwalks, I'm guessing sheet stock, patience, and a drill?

Nice work on the bomb belly and bulkheads, You lined the inside of the lower doors with thin stock sheet right? And How come?

Thanks for explaining the Radome, I guess the Revel and Mono kits are exactly the same tooling after all....What with you in addition to this thread, we are turning into a scratch channel.....

Also, did you put in some scratch just behind the bomb belly, over the rear wheels.....your build is really shaping up man.....I hope you don't mind if I take some of your ideas....

Dom

Nice work there Russ!!  Yes  Yes  But very sorry to hear about having to fill in those slots.  Sad  But at least you did catch it before you had the final finish on it!

Awesome work again Jim!  Very nice!  And I like the joke too, very funny!  Big Smile

Hi Everyone,

I have the document done on how to make those ejection seat handles.  I had to spend twice as long as I intended this morning working on the servers at work and then I had to work at my Mom's house.  So I didn't have as much time to work on it that I thought I would.  With that said, I don't have any pictures in it, but I have the description on how to do it.  I will work on putting in the pictures later.  Anyone who wants a copy please PM me (I am down stairs on my laptop so I don't have everyone's email address here) and I will send it to you.

Nice work Jim!

From where I am, A-7's always been a great looking ride. Some late model was supersonic, I always thought of it as a fixed wing Crusader, another old favourite of mine.

I had forgotten about the supersonic version of the A-7, after having read about it somewhere a while ago. Only existed as a prototype and powered by the same A/B engine as the F-15 and F-16. Read about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vought_YA-7F

Another interesting fact is that the A-7D (and K) was used as a trainer for the F-117 program as the actual flights of the F-117's were extremely restricted due to the 'black' nature of the program. The 7's offered the pilots an approximate workload equal to that of the F-117's. Also there were not enough F-117's available for training at the time. You can also read some of the history of it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTV_A-7_Corsair_II

I just think the A-7 is an interesting plane, even if it was just slow!

I'm staggered - I just looked at the stats for the B-52 Big Belly thread - it's only 4 pages long but has been viewed 2,348 times! Surprise

is it the one where northrop builds a replica and puts it in their wind tunnels?

EDIT: It may have been their radar testing thingy they use the test stealth.

Your channel line up is different than mine.  It is not on mine.

Mike, I realized after I sent that document to you that I need to add more to it, but that should be enough to get you going.  I am totally beat.  I had to work on the servers at work both Saturday and Sunday, so I did not have a weekend off.  And I will have to work again tomorrow night.

Argh.  My Day started out sucking and has been going downhill fast.  The Wifey and Mom In Law are watching Olympic stuff, so I don't get to watch the Ho229 piece...  Or anything else for that matter....  I keep getting sniped trying to get a cheap pair of speakers for the vintage stereo I got at a Garage sale, and I just ran out of Flat Black MM halfway through the Prop on a 1/32 R/M Corsair kit...  Oh Yeh, and my idiot cat got ahold of one of my pills again (Flexorall) and is sitting here stoned off of his gourd.  In about half an hour, he's gonna gak, and I don't want to be anywhere near him when he does....

So how was everyone else's day?

BTW Ken, you still have my email addy right?

In the Hangar: 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18D RAAF Hornet,

On the Tarmac:  F4U-1D RNZAF Corsair 1/48 Scale.

Not having that much bad luck so far......

Here's hoping the cat doesn't gak on your build.....

I wanted to watch the rest of the Horton documentary but

the recorder came on at 9:00 and keeps updating and I am toast......

Hi guys.  I don't know if anyone has ever posted this link, but I just stumbled onto this website and it's a great resource.  It has camouflage and markings pallettes for almost any military aircraft you could imagine.

Check it out.
