That A-6 is a very nice kit! With a lots of ordinance! Go for it!

I have the DML 1/35 Scud in Iraqi markings displayed next to my SA-2 on the shelf. Talk about two big builds.

As requested by tcepilot on another thread, here is the Trumpeter 1/35 SA-2 on Launcher that I built a few years back (2008-2010?) The Dragon VC figures a re to give a bit of scale perspective on how big this sucker is.

Ok I'll PM Mr. Kidwell and move it, but you should know that I'm a younger modeler... I put more work into these kits then a bum trying to  get  money  on the side of a Kansas road! ( Ok that was odd to say!) I'm 15 years old and working on my builds 5 hours a day.

bondoman- yeah, i will proble opt for different decals. hasegawa decals actually aren't that bad. compared to tamiya, they are a winner. i'll proble just end up using the kit markings.

... tce one more time you ought to rethink moving us all to the GB forum. There would be a LOT more traffic.

tcepilot - Bondo's right about that.  I'll second his suggestion.  It's going to be a good build:  It could be a huge build, too.

bondoman - A senior veteran of the FSM forum should be wearing some salad, I think.  How about just pinning on some of the more recent ones?  Wink

snagged this for $20 at the LHS today.

Sweet!

According to their unit history, VAQ-131 "Lancers" were deployed on the Kitty Hawk in 1968, in the Gulf of Tonkin.

That's a heck of a score, and I'm sure a great model. The decals are probably kind of dodgy, but that's fixable.

I'm not much of a badge guy either, because my posts would look like the chest of a Russian General. GB's are all I do, except ships. So don't sweat it if I don't use it.

i may need to jump into this GB.

Stik, constructor, everybody - I can make all your group build banner dreams come true.  Yes, unlimited banners on your signature line, if you'd like ... Whistling.  The secret is combining them all into one photo file.  I have been meaning to bring this up on the forum, but have been spacing it off ... maybe now is the time Wink.

Thats why I stopped using them. The slide show of my GB badges that I made on Photobucket did not work and since I coud only post one or two I just figured "why bother?"... I partake in the Group Builds, but do not need to keep score.

Why brown for the seat harness? Those straps are made of nylon, not leather. They should be a Sage Green (a grayish green with a hint of blue) or Khaki Olive, or something along those lines. OD for the seat chushions is good. Here are a few pics...

I know I just thought it would look alright idk why lol, I have sat in that cockpit (simulation/movie set exact replica of the real F-4C) many times at the USAF Museum (Dayton, Ohio).

Pilot.....were you able to save the details along the spine of the fuse? That is what has me worried...

Re preshading: I would say give it a go if you have an airbrush that will give you the thin lines you need. I can attest that and painting them is a problem. I did that on my B17 and it just doesn't work. Paint goes on too thick. Ever since i discovered pre shading I've been much happier with my finishes. You just have to lay your top coat over it nice and thin and in layers so you just don't obliterate it.

Well the detail was mostly there (it can be fixed by using super glue and a toothpick) and .she filled in nice, but I'm worried about the anttena thingy that goes on the top because of the stripe decals! AHH. I think I will put it on over the decals though...Indifferent
