Hey guys... thanks so much for the kind words, still a ways to go, but I, m pleased so far with progress and I think its going to look pretty good when completed, (fingers crossed he says).

Nathan, your paint looking pretty blamed good too! As to the transfers, I get them from the train section of the LHS, and I did find some on Ebay for the stencils, however, the nationad markings and insignias are water slide. I really do wish that instead of waterslide that I could get rubons in the kits. I really do prefer them. Thanks again guys...

Doug

I like that scheme Doug, which transfer's are you using? Are they for the stencils? I really wanna try some at one point. I know there's some company out there that makes dry-rubs stencil sheets for Bf110s and a few other A/C.

Here's my latest update. Glossed and decaled up using the kit decals:

Don't forget the stencil in the cockpit:

Eduard decals worked ok, they were nice and thin, but really wanted to silver in the center of the crosses for no particular reason. Anyone else have this prob with Eduard decals?

PJ?, Jester, Doug?

Doug, I can hardly wait until I am able to pull off an exterior like that. Sweet.

Dog, I applaud your persistence and not getting mad at the puppy. Coming along nicely. That green putty sure is ugly going on, isn't it?

Clemens, do show us a pic of the panel when it's done, mate. Last go around I used Future for what you are going to do. A) I didn't care for the results, and B) you don't have future over there anyway. I'm trying something else next time, let me know what you end up using. I'd try the Alcad clear acryl myself, but I can't remember if we determined you have the Alclad Clear Acrylic or the other one.

OK my friends... Got a bit more done, I have the break up pattern almost like I want it (I'm sure it will change a little bit) and I'm going to start applying the decals since they need to be there so I can finish the mottle and pattern. I'm going to use both dry transfers (which I prefer) and water slides.

I greyed out an area where the A/C # will be applied so as to look like the # was changed when this ship arrived at her new assigned base.

Being a fighter bomber she has different tail markings (missions) then usual.

Well thats about all for now, I still have more to apply but these need to dry and allow the Micro Sol and Micro Set to work their magic.

Thanks

Doug

I just applied the gloss coat to all the IPs and I'll add the decals tomorrow. Then I only have to spray a flat clear coat on all the cockpit parts and add the "glass" to the dials. What would you guys recommend for this task? I have Revell Contacta Clear and Alclad Clear gloss at hand...

HUZZAH! It's been a long time coming but, I have completed the vast majority of the painting and the masking has come off. I still have some touching up to do but, I have to admit that I'm very pleased with the results. All the patience paid off. I was a bit nervous as it took some very careful manipulating of the putty to get  the camo edges to line up. I did have to remask certain small areas and touch up but for the most part I got her. I got to take the majority of the day yesterday to work on the 190. The first time in quite some time. It helped that the Denver Bronco game was the night game. The first pic is the last round of masking prior to the painting of the RLM 83.

And here she is with the putty all off. Sorry that it is not the best pic as I took the shot outside and it kind of washed it out a bit. I will have some better pics once I finish the last touch up.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement gentlemen.

Hey Joe... Looking forward to your next, You already do a great job on the AB... All you will be doing is honing your skills. alot of the time, I'll see something cool and try to reproduce it. I spend as much time doing things like that as I do building sometimes.

Thanks for the kudos but the paint has just begun... a ways to go yet! Take care!

I was actually talking about the decals for the A-8 because I thought you were only using the A-7 decals, but nevermind my audacious question... Wink

Hannants won't send me any orders below 20 bucks and i don't need anything atm, so I'll probably just wait untill I need to place an order above the minimum value Stick out tongue

Speaking of 1/72, I'm going to start on my 1/72 Hasegawa A-5, using Colorado decals to make a post war French aircraft. The decals call out for an overall 'light blue'. My best guess on this colour is 'Gris Bleu Clair', which was a light blue grey (more grey then blue) used on the underside of French aircraft in WWII. Since they operated a few of these 190s from 1946-49, it seems a logical conclusion to draw.

I've searched up a couple of colour matches on the 'net, Humbrol 127, 2 parts Tamiya XF-24 to 1 part flat white, and a complicated mix of 4 Humbrol enamels.

At this stage I'll go with the Tamiya mix, unless someone has a better idea (like build a German one)

Cheers

Tony
