Mach71: Set phasors to AWESOME!!!

I've collected, built all the accessory's

I turned the emitter tip from a section of an old blind rod in my drill press.

The knob on the back is from a Rubies phaser,

I have 2 power cover lenses, one clear resin, one wood. I'm not sure which I'll

use.

The thumb wheel section is fan a made resin part I had in my parts box.

Yeah, very impressive job there with the masking Shiv, not something I'm all that good at.

BH: I think there's always room for another X-Wing!

I tried posting a while back...but I don't think it posted. Is it too late to join? I'd like to build my 1/48 scale Fine Molds X-Wing.

This would my my first sci-fi build. By the way, that Cylon Raider looks damned impressive!

Nice job.

blue is on and tape is removed. Have some bleed through to touch up but overall happy with the results. Going to paint the canopy a clear green and have parts to paint an exhaust colour and some grey in areas.

That Phaser is really coming along. Didn't know about the two joining together, I always thought that they were separate weapons.

Loving the X-wing. I can't wait till it is all lit up.

The way Matt Jefferies conceived it was you would have one small phaser 1 and the useless

phaser 2. So yes the larger unit  not work. The idea is that the actual beam generator was in

the small phaser and the larger unit increased the power/range/fire time.

In his personal papers he had drawings of a larger phaser 3, kind of a phaser riffle that the P-1/P-2 unit fits into.

Stupid Star Trek question (I'm Star Wars, but appreciate Trek): so, if you remove the small phaser from the main unit, does it render the larger unit useless or would you technically have two working phasers, one for each hand??

I got the 1st coat of paint on. It show's I still have some work to do,

but it's starting to look nice!

There is a stubborn seam on the bottom.

Mach71: Almost done now, I'd think the collimater unit or whatever the knob thing on the front would have been the hardest but it turned out great- the emitter shouldn't be too hard after all that!

Yeah, I'd call the little Type I, electric razor phasor, more of a concealed carry version since they did hid or attempt to hide them on a couple episodes.

Rob, I think I'll try and turn the emitter tip from a wood dowel or plastic rod.

I'm doing the stunt version and that one did not have a clear emitter tip.

The concealed version is generally considered to be the phaser 1. The small

grey unit on the top. I'm doing the phaser 2 unit. That combines the phaser 1

and the handle/power unit. Does that help?

Still cleaning, puttying, sanding.

I've gotten my hands on everything I need except for the emitter tip.

I don't think it will be a big issue though.

I got one coat of grey primer on the P1. and stuck everything I have

together with some tape to see how everything will look together.

so this is the concealed carry version of the phaser.

That X-Wing is looking excellent. Really stoked about this one!

Here's a little progress on the X-Wing.  I've painted the inner part of the engines black and I've attached the s-foil panels with the scratch details:

The engine areas will be getting more paint later.  I just wanted to get the areas painted black now because it would have been hard to paint in those recessed areas once the s-foils were assembled.

spent 3 hours getting the alpha fighter ready for for blue paint. All taped up and ready. Did a bit of test with CN Blue from rail line paints,

wouldn't have been so bad if the thing wasn't so small. it is about half the size of my 1/72 scale P-38

Congratulations, Waynec! I’m so new to modeling that I actually didn't know events like this existed. I just looked into it and found a couple coming up in my area this fall (one in Poughkeepsie, NY and one in Danbury, CT) and I think I’m going to try to make it out to one or both. Congrats again - very cool!

took a bunch of general pics, not a lot of specifics. i probably met some of them and didn't know. i will be vegging tonight catching up on GBs, pics, newsletters, etc and will let you know. i s=don't know if ASM has any posted or any stats yet. will let you know when i know.

i presume the same place. me and 1 other guy went from my denver club and 5 guys went from my col spgs club. my frau went with me and visited friends on sat. i haven't seen the stats yet but it was bigger than last year by a nice margin. about have the room was airplanes. not a lot of ships but 3 large scratch-built wooden sailing ships, which i don't think should be allowed. (full disclosure i am the newsletter editor of the big wood ship club in denver).

oih i also picked up a seaquest seep ocean transport

I wanted to go and I meant to go but I just couldn't get the time off from work.  I could have called in sick but I really hate to do that(I was "on call" Fri, Sat and Sun).  I really wanted to see how my F-15E and F-16 Barak would have fared.  Oh well, maybe next year.

Gamera, the D-7 is looking fantastic so far.  I like the streaky weathering and fading on it.

I'm looking forward to some of these Macross/Robotech kits.  I have a couple of the ARII 1/100 kits in my stash...a Valkyrie and a Gerwalk.

At chili con 3 regionals so won't be updating pics until monday. 11 models entered, only 2 major repairs, droped 122mm and broke axle and hub so drilling, pin, cya fixed. My un unimog lost entire front differential. 3 questions on what category.
