jibber

Bish I was a little confused on the overall base color. I've seen two, a Neutral Grey and Air Superiority Blue, and going through numerous photos of completed kits, I even found off-white ones so I went with the Neutral Grey which is what FM instructions call for. It's actually a nice color by Tamiya, kinda picks up a bit of blue.

Terry, check out this amazing build by Tony Bell ... Vader TIE. His research into TIE colour is great http://hyperscale.com/2007/features/tiefightertb_1.htm

Bish, Tony built quite a nice Fighter. He used a Lt Grey that seemed to get lighter as he went on. I'm a few shades darker but some where in the middle of the Dark Grey and Air Superiority Blue i've seen.       I should be all right. All I have left is to set the Solar Wings and shoot a few photos and I'll get them post today.

Thanks for recommending Fine Molds, I'm a big fan of that quality and detail when I get the time I'd like to build a few matching fighters.

Thanks for a cool GB, I love the work here especially the Falcon.

Bish is there a Star Trek GB coming up? It would seem theres not as much material as SW, but still cool.

Terry your TIE is looking great so far!  the old AMT kit is the first I built when I came back to the hobby so I have a special place for it.  I do remember reading something awhile back about a Star Trek GB, but I don't remember any of the details.  I have quite a bit of stuff in the stash for that as well.

Rob, thanks for that link. I think I will have to make a note of those colours.

Terry, really looking forward to seeing the finished build. As for the ST GB, I am not aware of one and certainly not planning on starting one. I am trying to cut down on the number of GB I run, to be honest I think it would be better to see less GB on the forum overall, 30 is a bit much.

But if someone was to start a ST GB say next year, filling the gap between this and the next SW GB, I would be in for that. I have a few kits. As you say, maybe not as much material, but certainly enough for a GB if there is enough interest.

Looks like I should have re freshed before posting. Terry, that is one really nice build, I love it. I like the colour you went with and the weathering is done really well.

Great work, thanks for taking part. I hope we will see you popping in from time to time. I have used the first pics for the front page.

Now we just need some of those rebel scum to show there faces.

I found a true color of the Tie Fighter under normal lighting, sorry for the dark photos.

Thank you, if I get the time and an extra $100, I would really like to build the Y Fighter.  Maybe?

Seems like everything I'm interested in is around that range, so much for the old days….Thanks again, and I'm going to work on my photography. I do to many builds and take a lot of time on detail to be washed out.

The prices have certainly shot up since they lost the rights to build SW kits. I know what you mean about taking pics, mine has got a but better, but I still need to work on it.

That's looking really good Doug. Love how the base is looking. Are they real branches there. The gun really looks the business, would never guess its origins.

Can't wait to see it finished.

Hey Bish, Thanks!  Yes the "Trees are real bits of limbs and branches I gathered from a wooded area behind my home, and the foliage is from a local home décor shop not far from where I live, where you can pick up all kinds of stuff like that to make arrangements and such. The moss (ground cover) comes from there too , its actual dried moss sold in a plastic bag. Yeah I just thought it would be fun to have him a real mean looking weapon to pose with, and as you already knew where it began, I just pieced it together  from spare parts. Don't think I'd want to run across him sitting in the woods holding that! lol...

Well, If I have until December, I should be good to go. No more deployments, moving, etc. I'd like to get in on this. No clue what I'll do. I did a TIE Interceptor last time.

Bish

Terry, you better grab them while you can't if you don't already have them.

Panzer, will do.

OK guys time for me to join the party!

Going to add 3 LED's for the engines and cockpit lighting.

Also going to do some scribing and accurizing too.

Thanks for the info Doug. I am not sure if I have asked you or someone else this before, but do you treat the wood at all. I have thought about using wood but was worried about it rotting. I assume you make sure its dry and insect free.

I like how you have done that, really gives the impression of very tall trees. All it needs is a little teddy bear in there throwing stones at the heroic Imperial trooper.

LOLOLOL... Thanks for the good laugh Bish! I needed one.  No, I don't treat the wood, as you said, as long as its dry and insect free, it will last . I cant say at this time, but I'm putting the finishing touches and I am really happy with the way its looking. I ran across something the other day and made a change in the thought process and how I am going to proceed.  I cant say much more at this time, but I think when you see, you'll agree. (I hope) Again... good laugh... always welcome!

Thanks Doug, I am going to have to give that a try. I am building a Jagdpanther next and am planning on my first attempt at building trees. I want it to look like a wood and some trigs might make good branches to put on the floor. The only trick will be trying to find dry wood round here this time of year. I think I have a look this weekend so will have enough time to dry it out.

Now your just teasing, don't keep us waiting to long. And always happy to put a grin on peoples faces. Wink

No problem Bish!

As far as the "kit" goes, it's a "junkyard dog".  I don't even have instructions for it!

Well, should be fun. Are you going to try and stick to the movie A-Wing or going for an improved variant.

Real good work everyone is doing here, wish I could say I've done the same. However I did do something somewhat related. I worked on a new model bench, this is what I started with.

i110.photobucket.com/.../20150221_183128_zps5e364994.jpg

and this is what I made

Still have to make the shelves, should not take long though. Look what I have languishing on the shelf though.
