So much really great work going on here!

This week I found some time to work on the Falcon and to begin my favorite part of the process... weathering. I started applying the first filter over the base color... Abteilung German Ochre. The base coat needed to be warmed up a little and the german ochre does the job.

But before applying the filter I went in with a gundam marker and put all the little hash marks that appear all over the ship. Here you can see the hash marks and also the filter. The left side of the image has the first layer of the filter and the right side doesn't.

I also did the bulk of the painting of the death star tiles. I gave each one a slight different shade of grey. I still may go back and add different tonalites as well as do some weathering on them.

And here's the falcon with a couple more layers of filtering with german ochre. Warming it up inch by inch.

Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

Senor thats some fantastic build, I'm drawn to the cockpit with the figures which is awesome, then I look at the Falcon with all the detail and then to one very cool base. You really have it going on this one, very nice. Terry

Señormodeler, this looks incredible, and it's a beast!

Thanks nat. It certainly is a beast. 900 parts. But I loved it. Something about diving headlong into a huge task with lots of details really excited me. But now I'm ready for a weekend build.

Looks nice but I think it needs a wash and some dry brushing though...

Too clean.

Yeah, it's not nearly finished, panzer. Just beginning the weathering process.

uodate:

heres a section where Ive begun to do some dot filter discoloration. I used blue, dark rust and dark mud (abteilung oils). It's mostly transparent.

The next step will be to do some subtle streaking. Then I'll go in and paint the individual grey and yellow panels. And after that some more discoloration of individual panels. Then more streaking. Then pigments.

Outstanding work, everyone!

Ok, I finally had an hour or two free so I took some 'final' pictures for y'all.

Note: I haven't been able to paint the stand yet, so it is currently unpainted.

Anyhow, pics:

Overall Views:

And, as an added bonus, a close-up of the cockpit:

And that's all she wrote on this build (except the stand...I'll spray it with black paint from a rattle-can, which is actually the same paint I used on the cockpit framing)

Something else about this build; I haven't named her yet, and every starship needs a name. Suggestions?

Keep up the work, everyone!

Klik, I really like that. Its a real novel twist on the falcon. I really do like the 2 tone scheme. I'll hold out on posting a pic on the front page until you have done the stand, unless you want me to use one of these.

Now, naming suggestions. I am useless at that sort of thing, but will have a think on it. But hopefully someone else will come up with a god suggestion first.

It looks fantastic...how about the Peregrine Falcon?

Also Bish, I've decided my build is going to the graceful Naboo Starfighter in 1/72 by Fine Molds....FOR THE REPUBLIC

WOW!  There is some seriously great work here!  I'm embarrassed to put the ARC pics up.  Great work everyone!

I know, a very pathetic attempt at a "space" background.  My apologies for that.

Your descretion Bish on which pic you'd like to use.  And a big thank you sir for hosting a great GB!  You rock my friend!

Nice little build there Eagle, you seem to have done a nice touch up job there. Does that kit come with any sort of stand.

Thank you sir!

You know I asked the same thing!  No landing gear to speak of and no stand!  Huh?  Will have to try and fabricate one to be able to put it on the shelf.

Spent this last weekend at the KC Planet Comicon, it was a lot of fun.

Here's a little update: I've been working on my little army of Buzz Droids. I'm hoping that by this time tomorrow I might actually have one at least fully assembled.

If it's not too late to join, I'd like to jump on board with the rebellion with a MPC X-Wing fighter

I found an older ROTJ kit opened but appears complete.

Awesome - when I remember my photo hosting site's password I will upload a photo of the box art.

The model is out in the garage drying from a shot of primer

Good grief this is probably the most tedious thing I have ever tried...

Well, Here's my first (minus paint) completed Buzz Droid:
