All right new builds starting everywhere! Bish, I have that same kit so I am looking forward to your build. I actually like the resin kits (except for the prices), I find them more forgiving and they feel solid when done. Myself, I finished my previous build the Valkyrie on the Sci-fi gb. Now it is time to get started on this.

The left leg seems a little compressed. Screamin' says it will go back to original shape if you warm it up. However, this model has been sitting like this for many years so we will see if it works.

That's looking great Raven, looking forward to seeing the wash.

Nuc, nice to see someone else who has it. this is the third resin kit in a row and this one is not as well fitting or moulded as the other two. Reminds me of a short run plastic kit. There was some clean up on the inside of each fuselage, which wasn't easy as they are already joined. Also, the support braces on the wing pylons and the top and bottom detailing pieces of the pilots section needed some trimming to fit. Same for inserting the cockpit and putting the front piece on. But that being said, after a week I am ready to prime and start painting. I'll get some pics up tomorrow and plan on priming tomorrow as well.

Glad you got thos epics sored. Cewy looks nice and mean, how tall is that. I am glad I finally got a genuine Screamin kit in the Stormtrooper instead of the copy I had to sort out with Darth.

Decide to get those pics up tonight. The cockpit was painted Light Ghost Grey and then details painted with various colours. The pilot was painted semi gloss and flat black, the Imperial insignia are decals.

The cockpit then had the top fitted, this had been painted black with decals applied over that. As you can tell, its really hard to see anything in there. I had to do quite a bit of sanding around the top of the pit to get it squeezed in.

The front of the cockpit was then fitted and masked. The framing had been attached to the front section then painted Medium grey then given a panel line wash and a matt clear coat.  The clear piece, which is vacform and you get two of them and a plastic plug to help cut them out, was inserted from the inside before the whole thing was fitted. Sorry, I forgot to get some pics before masking, but its pretty straight forward. Some filler and sanding was needed once the front was attached, but nothing to difficult.

So here are a few pics of the completed body section ready for primer.

The more observant may notice the complete absence of the wings. Simple reason for that, there is nothing to add to them. All they require is painting and attaching to the body. One side of each wing got two coats of primer when I did the pit, I will do the other sides tomorrow when I prime the body.

Bish

No worries Josiah, look forward to seeing that. Was it easy to get hold of.

yes, and on sale (can't remember where as I'm not on my normal computer right now) for about 30 bucks, seems pricey for how small it turned out to be, I thought it would be bigger....I'll try to post some spree pics sometime next week.

Bish that's moving along quick, hope mine goes that fast. I wonder if it's possible to put an led in the cockpit so you can see it better. Found a pretty good book on amazon, "Star Wars Complete Vehicle Cross Sections". If you are really interested in the vehicles this gives you a good explanation of what items are, and how they work. Not to pricey either.

Nuc, I would imagine its possible, there is a large flat back on the cockpit. I just looked up that book, interesting. Might have tp get one of those, thanks.

I built a snap tite kit of this many years ago, think it might have been Revell, and that was pretty small. Don't recall the scale. 5 inches is a little longer than the TIE In. For fighter aircraft, seems they are pretty much in line with WW2 fighters, its surprising how small they are in this scale. Nice looking kit, looking forward to seeing it come together.

After reading this, I remembered I had some Star wars cross section books, as well as essential guides, visual directories and a few others. But they have been stored away in boxes with most of my other books for ages. So I just dug them out, I was sure the bomber wasn't in them. I was right, but still nice to get them dug out. I have just ordered that one you posted, a bit late for this build as its nearly done, but still going to be handy. Thanks for the heads up.

I got the bomber all wrapped up last night, I just decided to carry on till the end and post an update all in one.

For painting, I just mixed a couple of greys until I got a colour I liked.

And then for some weathering. I am more used to doing WW2 aircraft and armour, and just as with doing modern jets, I still struggle with Sci Fi builds. I started off with a dark dirt flory wash, but when removing the excess, I wasn't to happy with the result. There was quite a bt I couldn't remove, so decided to spray a very thin coat of the base colour, and was much happier with how that came out. The same went for the wings which were then masked and the panels painted black.

The final step was a matt clear coat and then some dry brushing with some Tamiya pastels. The wings were then attached and the whole thing fitted to the base. Like the model, this was also from Starship modeller.

And there you have it. I am really pleased to get one of these completed, I had begun to think I would never be able to.  Being the 3rd resin kit in a row that I have built, I would say this compared very well to the other to in regards of detail and fit. The only real problem being the clean up needed on the inside of the centre pods, which isn't easy given they are all one piece to start with. A flexi file would have been very handy here, unfortunately I don't have one.

If you really want a TIE bomber at a close to reasonable price and don't mind resin, this is the one to get.

Very nice Bish. The Bomber is one of the most unique TIE configurations and definitely one of the coolest. Great build! YesCoolYes

Great job Bish! I like the weathering effect you achieved. Good call on misting the base color over it. I just might have to pick one of those up. What scale is it?

Thnaks a lot guys, much appreciated.

Bob, its 72nd scale. I got mine from Starship modeller, but its hit and miss as to finding them in stock.

starshipmodeler.biz/.../172-imperial-twin-bombardier.html

But you can get them direct from Multi verse and according to their site, they have them.

www.mvmodels.biz/wars.asp

Not cheap, but if you want a bomber, you don't have much choice. I am thinking about getting one of there conversions for next time, maybe the Clutch.

Bish,

The Tie Bomber looks outstanding. I have to agree the grey is spot on, and the weathering is very realistic.

I like the stand, I think I'm going to check Starshipmodeler for a stand to fit my Star Destroyer.

Thanks Bruce. These stand are not very big, about 4 inches, they are basically for 72nd scale small craft. they do a wide range from different movies and series, but I am not sure they would suit a Star Destroyer.

I took at look, Bish, and yes, not seeing anything that would hold a 15" Star Destroyer. I could use what is provided, or think up something on my own. Hope to get started on this one in the next week.

I think a different base would be better. I never finished the one I started years ago (I really must get a new one) but I wasn't that keen on the base. In fact, on most of the older MPC/AMT kits I have built, I have not liked the base. Difficult to think what would work for that though.

Bish, Nice job on the bomber. It came out great and will look nice on the shelf.

As for a stand for the Star Destroyer this is what I ended up doing with mine.

Did not have enough shelf space at work so I decide to make wall mounts. If you wanted to you could make them fancy by painting planets and stars on the base.

Cool work, everyone (been lurking, since I finished my Falcon way back when...)

Bish, I noticed that there is no finished photos of my build on page 1, and looking back at the photos I posted, it seems I forgot to give you some First page-worthy shots. My Bad EmbarrassedSad.

Since I was taking pictures today anyways, I got some of my YT-1300:

White background (for comparison):

Hope that these are better for you. Let me know if you want anymore, will oblige on request.

Love the WIPs, guys! Keep it going!

Hi guys, a little bit of an update. I got the torso and legs together, but 21 years in the box kind of warped things. After heating and forming the two halves this was the best that I could do to get them together.

So out came the epoxy putty. Tried my hand at some minor sculpting and ended with this.

Hopefully it will look better once it is primed
