Morning all... Well, Icy here in Atlanta again today, and treacherous driving conditions, Sooooo, I finished up my speeder bike. Here she be...

I found a small bag of lizards and turtles  in a craft store and thought they might lend a bit to the final looks, I took a shell from one of the turtles and fit it to a lizard to kinda combine them, make it look a bit alien maybe, (grin)

Placed another by the trooper, he doesn't seem too concerned with it and the lizard is a little more then curious maybe?

Well, heres the completed bike by itself.

And lastly a few over all views of the build. The other day I found a poster of a rain forest, and thought why not? I trimmed it and used some spray adhesive to mount it to a piece of cardboard , then attached to the back of the dio board which had been precut, I slightly rounded the back of the board to give it a wrap around effect. What really surprised me was the way the poster blended in with the dio making it look as if there is no separation and gives it a depth of view. Kind of a forced perspective view. Well that's it for this one, I've enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone for a bit, and will continue to look in on the many great works going on here! Bish, I'll try to find another kit and join in in the near future, This was a blast and many thanks for hosting! On to 1945!

Take care all!

Doug

Doug, that is brilliant. The bike looks awesome, I really like the trooper, but that base with the background really sets it off. And those lizards are a great touch and a very good idea adding the shell to the lizard, and why not, its Sci-Fi.

I do have one question. How the hell have you supported the bike, I can't for the life of me see how its fixed.

Really pleased to have you on board, and you know there will be a welcome for you if you want to build another. Now, tie to add one to the front page.

Impressive, most impressive.

Big Smile Every body loves a smart azz, right? lolol... seriously, if you look real close to the underside of the bike, you will see a piece of a popsicle stick under it, the popsicle stick was cut to fit, a notch was cut into the tree its next to, epoxied in, and painted black. it extends about 2/3 of the way under the bike, and supports it just above where the foot pedals are. with it resting near the tree its almost invisible from the front, and almost un-noticeable from the other side. Thank you my brother for the great build forum, and you can bet I'll try another soon!

Alright, first off I'm not sure if I'm supposed to reply to the original post or if I'm supposed to click new post? So, if I did this wrong, sorry.

On to the build. About 6-8 yrs ago, my oldest son and I did the Anakin and Obi-wan Jedi Starfighters (Interceptor) Revell Snap-Tites. They used to hang in his bedroom, but have since spent the last two years thrown in a closet. I have decided to revive these and hopefully breath some new life into them.

My "plan" is to mimic the opening scene from Ep III where Obi-Wan's ship is covered in buzz droids and Anakin tries scraping them off with his.

So, here's the first pic, not much done yet other than started to give OB1 some damage.

OBTW...OB1 is AWOL. so unfortunately unless I buy another kit, one ship may be pilotless...bummer.

Good Night!  There are some spectacular builds here!  I'm ashamed to put my ARC-170 in here!  Superb work everyone!

Pretty much got the 170 finished!  Had to mix some paint to try and get the same colors as the already pre-painted parts.  Wanted to try and match it before I did the whole bloody thing.  Might try to get a "space" background and shot a few more pics, but here she is!  Thanks for looking!

thanks nat, got you added to the roster.

I rather like that eagle, nice work. Where did you have to blend in the paint, I can't make it out there.

Thank you sir!  Mostly on the seam areas.  I know we talked about painting the whole bloody thing but with all that is going on here, I tried for a few minutes to match the paint colors first.  The "red"  Is actually Tamiya's Hull Red!

That looks real nice Eagle90!

Thank you very much!  Even thou it is a snap-tite kit, it is a very cool subject from the world of SW and adding a little weathering here and there and touching up the paint for the seams lines makes it look a lot better.

Wow, Awesome job, everyone!

Eagle90, that ARC-170 looks great! Doesn't even look like a Snap-tite kit.

I actually finished my pseudo-Falcon a week or so ago, but I've been so busy that I haven't had time to take final pics of the build (though I still need to paint the stand...). I'll try to get some pics up later this week, if I've got time. Sorry for the delay.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you Klik!

I tried to do some stuff like gluing and weathering to help it not look like a snap-tite.  Thanks so much!

Hello all...

It's not a big update, but considering how much sanding and eye straining work that took place, I figured at least a couple of pics were in order. Stick out tongue

This pic somewhat shows the cleanup taking place on the cannons. I cut them off and the left one shows how I cleaned up the molded mounting tabs. I also started working on detailing the front end.

I really wanted to light these, but I couldn't get the body apart w/o fear of breaking something.
